As its business card reads — The other door, another menu. Instantly you are lured inside by the beautiful coloured lanterns that hang from the tree branches out front. Not to confuse you, but there are three parts to this flashy place: From the beach end is Misuzu’s restaurant, the take away kitchen in the centre and Umami the sake bar at the other end. I find Umami to be slightly cheaper than Misuzu’s and it has a wider variety of choice. I have eaten upstairs and downstairs, and I recommend booking a table downstairs as the atmosphere is more contemporary and vibrant. The menu offers traditional and modern Japanese-style dishes served the izakaya way. The sashimi and crusted eye fillet steak are really yummy. OH! There’s also a charming alfresco dining area, which should be taken advantage of in the summertime. Tip: It’s expensive, but not too expensive if you know what I mean!
