What these guys lack in coffee, they make up for markedly in food and their soul soothing chai. I’m not a huge fan of the coffee beans these guys use unfortunately, and I often find that despite usually opting for a triple shot in my latte, it can still lack the strength and flavour I crave in a good coffee. However, these guys make a mean soy chai latte. Made from tea, and not those horrible sugary powders, this chai is incredibly delicious with warming notes of cinnamon and spice; complimented by a good soy. I’ve only tried the breakfasts here, but they always satisfy the breakfast beast in me. Delicious smashed Avocado, haloumi, fresh crusty loaves, well poached eggs and large portions make for one happy breakfast punter. The décor is creative, trendy and hip; and has a Melbourne feel. Service is ultra friendly, with table service available to those dining in. A place worth visiting and returning to.

Super delicious! Popped in for quick breakfast with my son. He is super fussy and he loved it! I had chilli scrambled eggs with crispy shallots and added bacon. Bacon was cooked perfectly… Nice and crunchy!!!

Honestly I was so disappointed with this place. There were so many things that made brunch here a not too pleasant experience. First off before I say anymore their coffee is good, really good so don’t get put off that, but I found their food and service to be subpar. So I get there and they serve me water in a dirty glass. Then I go to order the chef’s special and I get told unapologetically that it isn’t available. I go to order another thing on the menu specifically for the avocado in the dish and am told that«we don’t use avocado here when its out of season because we only use local produce». Now that is understandable but there is nothing on the menu that states that, is it too much effort to print out a summer menu so customers can actually see what’s available to them? When the meal finally arrives the scrambled eggs are really oily, the rest of the meal was good but the oiliness just ruined it for me. I’m sorry to say but this place is all in the name. I know I won’t be going here again.

Good coffee and very good breakfast. Visited on a weekend and very busy on both days. Acoustics tend to make it a bit noisy. Struggled to find great coffee in Adelaide on the weekend but this is very good.

I had the sirloin steak, which was part of the specials board, for brunch and was cooked very well. The service was quick and the staff very helpful. However, you have to try the crispy potatoes if the special is not available — either way, you’re guaranteed a great feed!

Small café with lots of character. Had breakfast there this morning and the croissant pastry with prosciutto and cheese filling was satisfaction. Waiting for my order and looking at my surroundings and notice cool little touches, my eyes glance up to the ceiling and it full of wooden spoons!!! Awesome placement making it look like honeycombs.

Pocket-sized yumminess. Perfect people-watching pozzies. Fabulously distracting ceiling. The Situation: Saturday. 2pm. Post rehearsals for Carols. One of my favourites ladies and I getting to hang out. Hungry. Need the tastebuds to be fed. Need the caffeine fix before heading to the Flinders Street Markets for pre-Christmas snooping and potential purchasing. Walked straight in and got seated. The Yummyness: Clare valley poached eggs, avocado and lime, haloumi and ciabatta. WOW. Subtle flavours, crunch, layers, and a well filling meal. Followed by an excellently made Flat White. Happy-goofy look was plastered all over my face. Lovely lady pal of mine had an equally impressive face post food and beverage. The Pozzie: We got one of the window stools locations, looking out onto Flinders Street, admiring the people going by, discussing life and all that and accidentally doing that«i’m not creepy staring at you, you just happen to be sitting where my thinking face is focussed to look». It was great. The Fabulous ceiling: Ten Thousand Spoons by Megan Roodenrys. I want to know if there really is ten thousand spoons up there. Its clever. Its beautiful. Its on the ceiling which makes talking to friends somewhat less easy, since I want to have my face turned as far above my friends heads so I can look at the magic above, an issue with my friends because it would seem I’m not interested in what they have to say(not true!). The pokiness: its not a big place, and seating is quite close together, so if you find you are one of those awkward people who aren’t a size zilch, have a hand bag, have a rotund belly(pregnant?), or need to breathe in life, it might prove a little«Getting to know you» with passing people in a sort of ‘group hug’ way. However, there is outdoor seating for those less comfy, otherwise if you enjoy giving random people a firm nudge with your buttocks or the groovy«we don’t know each other» group hug, then keep that cozy inside atmosphere.

What a super cute spot in the quiet back streets of Adelaide. I really like the interior here(the wooden spoon roof is very clever) and the outdoor tables make for a relaxing time. Juices served in mason jars and other trendy items appear on the menu. I’ve been twice now and on my most recent visit I was seriously confused about the process for ordering. Taking a seat outside, I saw others receiving table service but I needed to flag someone down after some time to ask if I ordered inside or out. Turns out that table service IS offered, and a menu was brought over to me. Some time later I had to flag the same staff member down to order and then patiently waited for my selection of mixed Smørrebrød(Danish open sandwiches with simple toppings) … and I waited. And waited. Until finally after 25 minutes I started to look around curiously to see if other tables had received their meals. Finally after 27 minutes(yes I timed it) the three simply topped pieces of bread were put in front of me. They were beautiful to look at, but both the lashings of butter and the creamy topping were overkill when put together. At $ 10 for three Smørrebrød they’re certainly good value, but the overdose of oil and the seemingly long wait for what was essentially a sandwich left me with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. The service I received on my previous visit was excellent, so I’m hoping this was an isolated experience as I’d really love to come back to The Project next time I find myself in Adelaide. I’ll probably order the Smørrebrød again, hold the butter.

I visited this café with a couple of interstate guests yesterday and we were pretty impressed. Sat in for a coffee, no food this time, and it was great. There’s not much happening down Flinders Street, and like the owner’s other venues(The Pantry & Gingers) this will be the beginning of a resurgence in the area. If you whipping through the city like I often do — I would recommend popping into here to get your fix — easy to park and really great coffee. The spoons on the ceiling are an immediate wow-factor. After chatting with co-owner and chef, Stewart, he told us there were 10,000 up there! Originally designed to create better acoustics in the room, the concept has been carried across the whole venue with beautiful wood furnishings and cabinetry. Flinders Street Project also has a bakery out the back and they bake all their breads and pastries in-house! Stewart also chatted through their degustation’s, which they run every month… Yum yum yum! I will most certainly be joining the mailing list for them!

Funky little café around the corner from my oral surgeon! I’m not sure if there is more to the name ‘The Flinders Street Project’ e.g. is there a project involving bringing your own mug to get coffee? or if it simply someone’s coffee project they have ‘projected’ onto Flinders Street? But regardless of the deep meaning of this cafés name — the décor was funky and the coffee GREAT! While waiting inside the café, look to the skies and admire the ceiling decked out with what look like little wooden spoons! I had myself a plain butter croissant and a coffee, but I spied a fellow customers dish that looked delicious for brunch, so it would be nice to head back and try some food. I’m interested in asking what the project is, if there is one. I saw a guy come strolling in after me with his own mug from work, so I’m making a guess that they are trying to reduce waste by encouraging customers to bring their own thermos/spotty mug/bucket. Who knows. Free coffee on me to the first Unilocaler who finds out!

It isn’t an extensive menu as per most other workplace lunch venues but it sure is a great one. I had a delicious pork and fennel sausage roll with yummy chutney on the side for lunch with a yummy green apple, kale, lemon juice(+ some other ingredients which i can’t quite remember!). My only small comment would be that I feel like«freshly squeezed juices» should be made on demand not in jars waiting to be purchased but I guess it does save time! I found it very reasonably priced for how good the food was and how trendy the place looked — wooden spoon installation has to be seen! Overall, highly recommended — can’t wait to head there for breakfast soon!
