I love the cupcakes here! And they really turn their hitter on! So it’s a great place for winter. So far I’ve had the chai&cinnamon cupcake and the mango&coconut cupcake, the chai one was too sweat for me since I’m not addicted to sugar, but the mango and coconut one got me, it’s kind of refreshing and has coconut drizzles and mango jam(I guess) filling in it! What could you ask more for a cupcake! I’ve decided to try every kind of them here: P The only flaw I think is the upstairs room to be a little narrow.

Went here with some friends on a Saturday night, and it was brilliant. The food and drinks were amazing, from caramel hot chocolates, to waffles and sundaes. The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. Cute spot, and a great place to finish a date.

The best sweet cocktail I’ve ever had– Snickers!!! Was so beyond amazing! Plus every other time I’ve been here(which is a lot, used to be the hangout spot at uni!) I’ve always had great stuff.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! this place! This is a tiny little place, that doesnt get a lot of foot traffic, but is always busy — that to me is the sign of a great little dessert bar. I really love the food here. And love that they have a number of dairy and wheat free options, so my Mum can eat there too. The only thing I will say is that the décor is getting a little dated, and given its popularity, it could possibly do with being in a slightly larger space, but for what it is and where it is currently it is great :) I am a little confused as to their opening times, I recently tried to go there on a Sunda night, and it was closed, but when I went back the following week, they had a sign out saying that they are open on Sundays. I dont know if this is a recent change? or if they mean they are open during the day on Sunday — but it was a little confusing. However, I still love this place and it will definitly remain on my dessert bar rotation :)

Yeah not bad… Pretty cosy atmosphere. cooler than your commercial joints like san churro which use powder to make their chai lattes. Here they use loose leaf. But sad to see them using dairy farmers milk. Not local stuff. They might as well be using coles brand which is the same milk processor. Seriously your wasting your money buying Pauls/Dairy Farmers you might as well support local by buying direct from farms such as Fleureiu Milk Company or Paris Creek.

I went to Chocolate Bean for the first time with friends and enjoyed it. The space is small downstairs but there is seating upstairs and outside. The chocolate drinks are a little on the expensive side but the sizes are generous and they are tasty. The place is very vegan friendly with heaps of awesome looking vegan cakes and other desserts to choose from. Overall, I wasn’t blown away by Chocolate Bean, but the experience was still good.

This place is pretty trendy. Great late opening hours. Plenty of vegan options. I was initially a bit put off by the 80 cents extra for soy, only to be told by the nice lady that it has been put down to 50 cents, which seemed ok by comparison. She also told me they are considering including a variety of milk options such as rice, lactose free and even macadamia milk(which I didn’t even know existed until now) to cater to their mostly vegan & other dietary needs crowd. Pretty cool… I love the old exchange buildings. Adds a bit of charm I reckon. A side note: I randomly spotted senator Nick Xenophon while I was there and he seemed like a regular.

Seriously good! Perhaps the best way to finish a meal in the city is to get over to this little eatery for a coffee/tea and some incredibly delicious and decadent cakes and cupcakes. Great service and staff, exceptional food and a prime location. Adelaide is lucky to have them!

Great arty atmosphere but casual enough for anyone. The grand selection of cakes and drinks taste absolutely amazing. We sat upstairs and had our food taken up to us. The staff were so good. The lighting was so nice I ended up taking a few pictures of my friend next to the window.(sounds pretentious but then are some of the uni students) ;D

Ahhh Chocolate Bean, Chocolate Bean. There’s no doubt that Chocolate Bean is a great place, and it’s probably the best chocolate café in the CBD. Many similar places lack the genuine charm that Chocolate Bean is oozing with. But despite all this I can’t quite bring myself to give them 5 stars, and to be honest I seesaw between a 3&4. Their hot chocolates are the highlight of the menu for me, and they were what brought me here in the first place. I remember the whispers at uni a few years ago about this café that did white & regular hot chocolates in a range of different flavours. The mix I’m trying at the moment is the white hot chocolate with rose. Perhaps inspired by my Air Bandung at Mamak Corner, this is sweet, warming, and a little bit exotic. I’ve never really been wowed by the food I’ve had from here, but they do do pretty good cupcakes(plus they use my favourite cupcake liners) I think I need to go back to Chocolate Bean with a big group to really sample some of their chocolate desserts. But for now I’m sticking to my 4 stars.

Who knew that a place could be so happening at 9:30 Tuesday night in Radelaide? And with great customer service! We came here after a movie and it was packed. There were only outside tables available and it was very cold. So the awesome staff OFFERED to move a table from outside in. Once we were settled, we ordered lattes. I was in the mood for sweets and tried the sticky date pudding. Beautiful. Not cloyingly sweet and with a really lovely flavor. My partner went for a spinach quiche, which was very tasty. We’ll definitely be back.

I went in for a takeaway coffee, and spotted vegan cupcakes! I chose a snickerdoodle, which was so delicious I couldn’t believe it was vegan. The waitresses were friendly, and the vibe was relaxed. Will definitely be going back.

Call me crazy, but I don’t actually come here for the chocolate. I’m aware of how good it is, I’m just not all that into sweets. What I do love about the Chocolate Bean, however, is their amazing coffees. If you love coffee and are up for trying something different other than your average Italian espresso, then this place is right up your alley. They have imported coffee beans from a range of different countries, all with distinctive aromas and tastes. The Columbian coffee is irresistible, and its dark and rich textures are just what I need when I’m in the mood to really to take the time to appreciate a hot cup of jo. Their large range of chocolates is also exquisite, and I’ve been told by many vegan friends that their chocolate is vegan friendly. If you don’t dig on meat, then this is a good place to get your chocolate fix.

There are two types of cafés in the world of cafés. There’s the coffee café and the chocolate café. Perhaps you can add a third if you include cafés that specialise as informal restaurants, I guess, but I like my cafés for their coffee and their chocolate. The Chocolate Bean is of the latter variation. It was a chocolate café in Adelaide, having opened in August of 2004. It features everything from truffles to chocolate soup. The chocolate is of a very, very high quality, and everything here is handmade. Additionally, they serve cocktails, and have alternative for those who aren’t partial to gluten, as well as organic alternatives. There aren’t just sweets, either, there are savoury offerings for those of us savoury-tooths, and for those in the market for some lunch. The Chocolate Bean sports a classic architectural theme, with upstairs and downstairs seating areas. The area is small, tight and cozy, which is just what you want in this sort of place. It’s not often busy so you can sit back, relax, and partake in the deliciousness of the chocolate with nothing but yourself, a bit of silence, and perhaps a book or a magazine. Personally, my chocolate café of choice is still, and will likely always be, Bracegirdle’s. But The Chocolate Bean is a happy alternative if I find myself too far from Glenelg and too close to the city.

This is my favourite chocolate café in Adelaide. It is situated in an ambient side street that is complete with old market facades and beautiful trees. It is a pleasure to sit outside on the pavement and soak up the sun. The venue itself is very quaint with an old fashioned feel reminiscent of a rustic French café. My favourite drink is the mocha but they also serve iced drinks with interesting flavours such as gingerbread which is surprisingly good. The flourless chocolate cake is scrumptious and they serve a great quiche for something savoury. The staff are an eclectic group of people, quirky and very warm and friendly. On my visit there today I had three staff bid my good bye as I walked down the stairs. It was an interesting exit to say the least. Not only is the chocolate amazing, the café itself is worth a visit just for the atmosphere.

Intimate café with home made chocolate goods including drinks and yummy snacks, really wonderful. Gets very busy. free Internet if you get in with your laptop. Once it was the best kept secret in Adelaide, now you’d be better off booking ahead if you actually want to have a little party upstairs. There are some larger venues that provide a very similar possibly more ‘mainstream’ service, just around the corner — so at least if you pop in to try your luck, and get none, you can always keep walking. But there is a sense of ‘the original and the best’ when it comes to little café spots like this — so I suggest you do the ‘mainstream’ thing and book ahead; that way you can enjoy the secrets on both sides of the coin — the secrets of the mainstream where booking ahead gets you a spot, and the secret of going somewhere that is totally chocked with street cred! Ah the prices are pretty moderate, the food is good and the service is always with a smile.

Wow. Any shop that dedicated itself to chocolate gets a vote from me. Chocolate bean, located in the heart of Adelaide, put out many delicious offerings for chocolate lovers such as myself. Lets start with the drinks. Personally, I cant go past the hot chocolate, it is so rich and creamy, it just glides down your throat. I personally also like the chocolate and strawberries. Such a classic combination. If you are really game or have a huge craving for something decadent, try the chocolate filth. Mousse, chocolate syrup, mud cake, cream, melted chocolate and strawberries… trust me, if this doesn’t fix your craving, nothing will!
