Prime location on Hindmarsh Square in the CBD, unfortunately this«café» is not where it should be. Too many times coffees have been burnt, orders delivered incorrectly(usually greeted with a grunt from the man behind the counter) and menu items not available. Customer service is not the forefront of this business. Last week a farewell lunch for a colleague was held here, 3 out of the 7 dishes ordered were inedible and sent back. Risotto was delivered with a layer of oil across the top… Not on… With some tender love and care this place could be amazing. There are certainly several better options available in the vicinity.

I’ve driven past this café many times before when I head into the city to go to work and I always notice it as it is one hell of a huge café and it’s situated straight bang on the corner. Never have I considered walking in here to eat until my friend recently had her 20th birthday party here, and yep it is a HUGE place. It’s massive. It’s gigantic. Yep you get it. It’s HUGE. It’s probably the biggest café I have been to in Adelaide and it feels quite intimidating because it’s so big. There’s plenty of seating and there were only about six other customers on the Saturday night the party was on. My friend had the upstairs booked for the party and it’s quite nice. The whole space is modern and chic, and it really is a great place to have a function because of how big the place is. I read on their website they also cater for a variety of other functions including engagement parties. They serve your typical Italian dishes you would be familiar with at other Italian restaurants and cafes around Adelaide; quite on par with those down on nearby Rundle Street. Pasta, risotto, pizza, steaks, coffee, steak, seafood dishes, as well as a breakfast menu that includes eggs benedict and eggs frittata, a lunch menu and wine list consisting of both Australian and Italian wines. Price wise it’s similar to other similar cafes in the city but I like it a lot how their servings coordinates with how huge the place is and yep the portions here are very, very generous. You get a lot more for the same price as you would get compared to nearby Italian cafes. I ordered the meat ravioli with napolitana sauce and it’s quite nice and the flavour is just right. It wasn’t the best napolitana I’ve ever had but it’s still quite nice and I was more than happy with how much I got as well. My friends got the risotto, pizza and steaks and like mine their servings were also very generous and everyone seemed to be quite happy with their meals. We had only one waiter to serve our whole party of twenty plus but he still managed to do his job well and was quite easy going. Will have to try out their breakfast menu and coffees sometime as well.

Went out walking in the CBD for a brunch hit and stopped in here. Café space is huge, with plenty of room between tables so that you can spread out and don’t feel cramped. Ordered an Eggs Florentine and the Amore Breakfast and some coffees. Coffees came out together, and so did the food. Coffee was OK, not excellent. Food likewise, eggs were poached nicely. Salmon was super salty though and so was the char-grilled bacon. Not amazing but not terrible. Service from our waitress was a little terse. Felt more like we were doing them a favor by coming. Asked what we wanted first without being provided a menu which was interesting. The gentleman working the register however was very friendly and redeemed the service somewhat. WiFi is available, but was dropping in and out when we visited so was of limited use for logging onto the work network, so gave up in the end. Worth a try if you are looking for a meal /coffee — the menu is varied, breakfast runs late, the spacious interiors would be great for a group, and if you have some work to do you may be able to find a quieter corner.

I have always had a good experience in Caffe Amore, polite, friendly staff, good food and coffee, and I can be sure if I arrange to meet someone there we will be able to get a table. Because there is lots of them. The décor is light and bright, and while it does lack the cosiness and quirkiness of other cafes, sometimes I like having my space dammit. I can come in here with my work, and know I’m not likely to be bothered with copious amounts of noise, or people sitting right on top of me. Did I mention I love the staff? I can’t remember the last time I have been so impressed with service.

If you’ve got a few people that you want to get a coffee with, then this place is probably pretty decent. They’ve got a lot of space, but yeah, it doesn’t really have the charm or atmosphere of a smaller and cozier place. That’s alright, because they do pretty decent coffee, and I’ve found the staff to be really good, friendly, chatty, not snobby or rude at all, really quick to look after customers. That’s part of what I really like about this place. The food, well, I haven’t really tried. I thought it was probably a bit over priced for what it appeared to be, but that’s alright.

Café Amore is… Big. Like, dauntingly big. I’ve come here a few times for coffee and sweets, and always felt it was huge. Maybe it’s the Adelaidean in me that’s used to smaller venues and cosy cafes, but Café Amore doesn’t really have that ‘touch’ or appeal that others do. To me it feels cold and somewhat impersonal, like you’re grabbing coffee in a shopping centre. I do, however, have massive compliments about the staff. They are always without fail, friendly, helpful and polite. I love when staff are the first to greet you, particularly café staff who work behind the counter. That initiative just goes a long way with me. There isn’t anything considerably wrong about the place or its menu, really. It’s just another café. The coffee was nice, the German Apple cheesecake I ordered was nice, although it wasn’t store made. What brings this place up is the impeccable service, and the fact that Red Love is just upstairs.
