I had the tofu salad. It’s is a really sad bad version of a salad. A few lettuce leaves 2 half strawberries 4 cherry tomatoes blob of mayo and the tofu was over cried and mixed with a super sweet sauce that was poured all over the lettuce. Yuck. And at $ 11 it’s a sad excuse for a salad.

Sushi in the City is a great option for a quick takeaway lunch. The selection is wide and always seems fresh. Both maki(rolls) and nigiri options are available. Recommended.

Cafteteria style«grab and go» sushi. Choose from the huge number of options available in the cabinet or it can be made to order. There is a dine in option but it’s just not as much fun. Grab your bucket or container, fill it with your faves and take it somewhere outdoors(or back to the office!) to enjoy. Friendly efficient service and great«combo» 2 for $ 5 options.

This is my first visit after having it bookmarked for a while and it’s just like the lovely and helpful Unilocalers said! Fresh and affordable, the sushi is flavoursome and individually packaged in plastic. I couldn’t go past my favourite tuna and avocado and it was really tasty. The servings are on the larger side as well, which makes for a filling lunch. Plenty of filling too as I’ve experienced previously a rice vs filling imbalance with way too much rice. I ventured away from my favourite to also try the pork goyoza and they were really delicious, containing many well balanced flavours. It was busy but the staff members served people quickly and so it didn’t take long to get served. Apparently there is a $ 10 min for eftpos and having cash speeds up the process as they were calling for people with cash to jump the queue. Centrally located, it’s easy to find, convenient, eat in or takeaway and a place to which I’ll definitely return!

This is the only place I will buy sushi from anymore. Their prices are very reasonable and the range of sushi and other freshly made dishes is extensive. What I absolutely love about this place is that you are not slugged for extras such as wasabi or soy sauce. But the clincher has to be the taste of the food, always fresh and just delicious.

Sushi in the city more like place in the city that only costs ten buck for four pieces of long sushi, that are decent and are just the right amount of food for lunch. Four pieces of sushi stars.

Pick your own freshly made, great range of sushi in Adelaide! No, literally, you pick your own. Go to the fridge, grab a roll, put it in a bucket or a plastic container and take it to the counter to pay. This place is efficient for a business that is always bustling at lunchtime and the food is freshly replenished throughout the afternoon(so much so sometimes the rice is still warm). My favourite thing about this place is they serve raw tuna rolls(hard to find in Adelaide) and their fish tastes fresh. BONUSPOINTS = as much free wasabi and soy sauce to your delight, instead of a pointless 10c per packet! The one thing that still gets me a little queezy if I think about it too much is there are no sneeze guards over the open aired fridges. Probably not an issue if the food is so fresh but still a bit awkward!

16÷1÷2012 Photos 1 Wow, very clean looking place! 2 Grab a paper bowl, which is on your left as you enter 3 Choose from the wall of food packages on your left e.g., sushi rolls, or ready-made meals — don’t forget to choose a drink from the fridge(I wanted to try their Arizona drink, which was imported from US)! 3 Take your selections to the cash register, next to the entrance. The lady at the counter was very happy to see me! If you want anything extra like salt or pepper, just ask! 4 Enjoy your meal and drink! I certainly did! Plenty of seats vacant, and space once you sit down. The waitress cleans up your meal pretty fast. I said«Arigato»(which means Thank you, in Japanese) to her, and she replied, «I’m not Japanese.» So I laughed and with a smile, I said, «I’m sorry. I always say that after eating sushi to everyone.» I don’t think she got my humour, because she walked away with an expressionless face. Oh well, life’s tough when I’m trying to be a comedian, I was only trying to cheer her up! 5 The toilets look like house toilets, rather than a restaurant toilet. But nonetheless, just go and get out. This lunch wasn’t that big of a deal for me, it didn’t make me throw it down my oesophagus, even though I was starving. I was so close to giving this place 4 stars because they had nice drinks and service, but unfortunately I’ve had better sushi elsewhere.

It was by chance one work day lunchtime that I stumbled on Sushi in the City on Gawler Place. I was walking from Pirie Street to the Mall, heading to the DJ’s food court for sushi, when I stumbled across this modern café with a flurry of people coming and going. My hunger and intrigue got the better of me and, boy am I glad it did. The sushi here is the best I have every tasted. EVER! A table at the entrance offers the choice of a traditional clear pack for your rolls in(the packs you see at all sushi places), monster size coffee cups in which you can stack four rolls standing up, or a attractive black cardboard tray. The ‘coffee’ cups are popular as you can stack your sushi rolls, soy and wasabi inside and top with a lid, just like a take away coffee, but without the sip spout. Quirky, but practical and fun. The sushi is so fresh the rice is often still warm as you pick your favourites from the refrigerated display along the left wall. Each roll is attractively and hygienically wrapped in clear cellophane with more than a dozen varieties to choose from. They also offer japanese style salads e.g. teriyaki chicken breast with greens or vegetarian fried rolls, from $ 3 to $ 8 and there is a printed menu with items they cook to order, including bento boxes. Sushi is two rolls for $ 5 with free soy and wasabi. You are encouraged to pack your rolls in a takeaway box and then sit in the rows of small, white tables at no extra charge. Bottles of soy and dishes are also provided for your convenience. Most city workers comfortably sit here alone, with the odd groups of 2 to 4. Service is fast and very friendly. I eat more than my fair share of sushi rolls and I can’t speak highly enough of this place. If fast parking was more plenty of Gawler Street, I’d drop in to the city every day of the week for my fix. Five stars is a big call. Here, I give it without hesitation.
