A group of friends and I were planning to go to Eggless after final exams, only to find out it was closed for a few weeks. So on a quiet Thursday night there wasn’t many options and I didn’t feel like St Louis. So we decided to try Sir Café(Gouger Street). And I have to say, I certainly regret it. The first thing I noticed was that the place smelled so good! The smell of pastry was so welcoming. The staff are friendly and happy to help as well, thats another plus. Like other dessert cafes this one is dimly lit but I don’t mind. The menu is pretty extensive, with multiple choices of crepes, waffles and the well known Hong Kong style honey toast. While there’s coffee and chocolate hot and cold drinks I’d like to see HK or Malay style milk tea as a personal thing. I went with a mango smoothie which was okay. The highlight was the durian crêpe with durian icecream and honey. It was Godly!!! I found a thin sheet of filo in between the crêpe and the durian filling which adds that really delicate crisp texture. The durian filling was A+ since it taste like 100% how durian should. The durian icecream was great too for the same reason and eating the cold icecream with the hot filling and crêpe is really worth the experience. My friends all enjoyed what they ordered as well so it’s not just me. While the menu isn’t as creative as Eggless and is a bit pricier, it still beats alot of the established dessert houses. Great first impression from Sir Café Gouger, I’m definitely going back again!

I’ve heard about this place quite a lot over the last few months but I just never got around to trying it out until my friends and I spontaneously decided to try it out last night. It’s located on Rundle street and is next to Vego & Love’n is. First walk in and I instantly notice the cool vintage-style décor and furnishings. There’s a phonograph playing some soft, easy-going music over here, British flag printed ottomans dotted around the place, antique style sofas over there, a huge mirror on one side of the room and the walls are painted in an eggplant colour. It’s a very cute vintage-style dessert café. We were the only customers there except another couple that night and it’s quite small as there’s not many seats so i can’t imagine it being able to hold many groups of people. A waitress attended to us almost immediately and she was very friendly, sweet and helpful. The menu selection isn’t huge but it isn’t too limited either. Desserts ranging from honey toasts, waffles, cheesecakes, crepes and the usual coffee and tea selections. I really wanted to try the green tea cheesecake but was disappointed when I was informed they didn’t have the green tea matcha cheesecake as they ran out earlier so I opted for the banana chocolate crepes to the recommendation of the waitress. I liked the crepes, it was sweet but not too rich, portion wise it’s not tiny but not huge either that I will feel guilty for not being able to finish the dish. Overall, I was satisfied. It was nice but nothing spectacular. My friends liked their blueberry cheesecake but I had to help them finish it because it was quite dense and rich. Nonetheless, it was delicious. Sir Café is a place worth trying out though just for the sake of it. It’s not too expensive but it’s not dirt cheap either. It’s a cute little café serving up nice desserts but don’t expect your socks to be blown off. I gave them an extra star for the wonderful, friendly service and for the place’s cute décor.

One of the latest dessert places to hit Adelaide. This a very cute quaint place on Rundle Street. Blink as you walk down and you could easily miss it! Walk up the two flights of stairs and you are welcomed to a warm room and sign with a moustache. The interior of the place is very cute with warm couches and pretty furniture however not much seating is available. This is not the place you rock up to with 8 friends. I would say your pushing it with a group of 4 if you all want to sit together. Service was wonderful, we were greeted immediately and made to feel welcome. The menus were brought over and we were asked a couple times if we were ready to order — our fault for chatting to long! There are a few items on the menu that they suggest you have including the«cubes». So a cube is some cake that has the middle taken out, yummy things are put in the hole mixed with the cake that was taken out. We got the strawberry cube and the the serve was enormous! Definitely something to share. We also ordered the waffles which was also a very generous serve. Both dishes were nice but did not take you on a dessert journey like some of the other dessert bars in Adelaide. The low prices you paid for the dishes was representative of what you received in quality but definitely not quantity.
