Have You Met Charlie?

These little gift shops are popping up everywhere. Most are very similar — broaches, hipster books about moustaches, and quirky jewelery. While, Have You Met Charlie has some similar qualities to other trendy gift shops, what sets it apart is the affordable FRAMED prints from local artists. Framed artwork is so expensive, but I bought a beautiful framed print for $ 40. If you want to scrimp even more, you can buy the print and frame it yourself. I did attempt to frame a print, and now I have a great respect for framers. Seriously it’s not worth the pain if you can afford the extra dosh. Shop is full of products and customer service is great. I hope Have You Met Charlie continues to set itself apart from the rest (the lack of hipster moustache parafanalia gives it extra points).

I’m undecided about this place … these shops are popping up all over the place, and they all look very similar. The products have a ‘homogenised’ feel … nothing stands out, everything is in the same colour tones, nothing is too bright or too brilliant.
But what I do like about this place is that they stock local artists and designers. The only issue is they are the *same* artists and designers that can be found at Bowerbird Bazaar, That Dapper Market, and various other shops and cafes around Adelaide.
Saying that, it is great to have a gift store to grab that little something that can’t be found in a department store and know that you are supporting Adelaide businesses. I’m just a bit disappointed that they don’t have a ‘point of difference’ at all — it will be great if they decide to branch out in future and take a few more risks!

Oh gosh, where do I start?! There is so much to love about this gorgeous shop that is absolutely filled to the brim with beautiful and unique pieces from local artists and designers.
There’s home wares, accessories, jewellery, art, a bit of vintage clothing and even tea! There is so much that I could spend my hard earned cash on here that it is actually daunting however if anyone who knows and /​or loves me is reading this review, please go here to buy me presents — I’ll have one of everything, thanks.
Upon a recent visit I spotted some stacking rings that I’d been lusting over online for some time. Unfortunately the sizes were too small for my fingers (adding to my underlying complex regarding having fat fingers…) but the wonderful shop assistant went out of her way to try and find out if the came in bigger sizes or to find me an alternative. They don’t *sigh* so my fat fingers will have to be bare for a while — but only a couple of weeks, as she told me they are getting in rings from a local designer soon! Yay, so I’ll be back soon to try and see if I can dress my fingers!
