Good little spot near the public transports for coffee and a bite to eat. A fellow patron’s dog kept jumping on me one time while I was waiting for my coffee, much to my delight. Honestly I doubt you’ll be so lucky. I’d give it 5 stars but there’s something missing, there’s a slightly unfuzzy edginess to the vibe of the place, slightly too many frowny frowns in the place.

The service here hasn’t been the best and coffee is overpriced and seems hyped up. I did get free sparkling water once from there so that was a great thing. Smiles go a long way please don’t be «too cool» for that

As you can probably tell from my check-ins I’ve been to this place quite a few times. There is a pretty good reason for that — it’s awesome. Okay, I have to admit that after work, especially on Fridays, it gets really, really crowded, so don’t expect to find any place where you can sit down for a quiet drink(no quiet drinks here unfortunately). However, this place also seems to be open at the crack of dawn ready to serve some pretty decent coffee and a really cool breakfast. In fact I had some spring rolls, though not what you would expect, these were banana spring rolls, and I have to admit that they were nothing short of awesome. If it wasn’t for the fact that the train gets pretty packed in the morning I’d be coming back here more often for those delicious spring rolls.

The coffee and tea is amazing here, and the chai lattes are off the charts wonderful. The atmosphere and design of this place is flawless and so classy and urban. Good selections of drinks and small snack type meals. Plus, outside has heaters so it’s a great pick for those cold Melbourne nights. I will never stop coming here.

Sooooo good. I had these spicy eggs Benedict over salmon and veggies. The veggies were a tiny bit over-salted but the rest of the meal made up for it. Went out back to use the bathroom before we left — it looked really fun out there! Bar with lots of ambiance, meats roasting over a grill. I would love to go back.

Only for their coffee … Their Soy Lattes is never failed to impress, hitting all the right notes, nuttier than most, creamy and enough kicks. Order through a Window … Crates chairs and tables are novelty sitting under Victoria Park station while watching big graffiti across and people passing by. Only dislikes are those smokes coming from this smokers’ favourite spot.

Visiting from Sydney, stumbled upon this place during our visit. oh man. Glad we did! The service was great, food was delicious and beer selection were pretty good. We had the delicious pork bao the snapper and the beetle leaf w chicken. Definitely plenty for 2 people. Highly recommend this place! Served by a lovely lady named Rachel. Rad times.

I went there for coffee and breakfast on a Sunday morning. The coffee was okay, but the breakfast was great! I had the corn cakes and they were definitely different from your typical fritter. The chimichurri dressing makes the dish great. Location is conveniently located next to Victoria Park train station. Wait service was decent but could be better.

Spent a cold winters night at Dr Morse by the ‘fire’ enjoying a few glasses of wine. It was quiet, being a weeknight and what was probably one of the coldest nights of the season, but the place was cosy, and the wine selection ok(some felt like they’d been open too long), so a pleasant time was had. Feel like I have to be back in summer and try some food to really be able to embrace what they do here, so I shall do just that!

Pretension and Over-Pricing over Substance. Food — Average Service — wait staff have absolutley no idea what’s going on Pricing — about 25 –30 for a small piece of protein and some veg — no distinction between any of the flavours on the plate and only a minor distinction in texture, if you have a small to moderate appetite you will prob still need to get some fries somewhere on the way home. Drinks — only drank beer — couple of tap beers and cider, none to my taste. Selection of standard import beers you’d find anywhere Ambience — this is the strong point and beside the Victoria train Station ramp leading directly to the front door, it does promise an intimate local sophisticated stop off, minimal but warm fit out including open fire place, large cosy well heated beer garden serviced by another small bar, usually serviced by people more consumed with themselves then anyone they are serving. The couple of times I’ve been there there has been a DJ playing what some disappointingly dreary electro mediocrity. One drink and a small bite afterwork will leave you your appetite and thirst unsatiated, your senses a little confused, and a strange sense of disconnect as well as your a disproportiate amount of your weekend entertainment budget plundered!

Lovely place for a mid-week drink. We went on a cold winter’s night and had a toasty mulled cider. The mood is inviting(not quite ‘cozy’ but a good place to sit and chat) and the music is set at «just right». We didn’t eat but I bet it would be a good spot for that too.

Could not fault anything about this place. Great food & service with a funky fitout to match. I’d give it 6 stars if I could.

I’ve strolled past here with my dog for a few weeks and went in last night. Was way above what I expected. Staff here were absolutely awesome all night. We sat on a table overlooking Johnston St, trains came and went, traffic bustled by and Dr Morse slowly filled up heading towards 9pm. The whole vibe was friendly and welcoming. The wine list is great and offers a good selection by the glass. The food was standout though. Hummus dip and fresh warm house made pita was really generous and fresh. Smoked salmon share plate at $ 16 was incredible value for the smoked fillet with toasted bread, pickled onion, herbed mayo. Great combination of flavours. Another fish dish of pan fried barramundi atop a fennel mash was equally good. Salad of barley, roast dutch carrots, fresh herbs, goats cheese and toasted hazelnuts was crisp, fresh, and an extremely generous serving size for the money. Quinoa with heirloom tomatoes, shaved zucchini, honey and greens — great serving size again. Desserts of toffee apple — twirls of apple above warm toasted honey oat crumble was really well balanced with vanilla ice cream. Chocolate brioche with salted caramel was extremely rich but also decent. The beer garden looks outstanding and is something I’ll return for. The front area is spacious and the seating comfortable. Music was a great mix of old, new, and alternative. Dr Morse did everything right last night. The kitchen is pumping out some amazing dishes at this price point. Highly recommended, will definitely be back.

Normally I don’t venture to the North side as I am too lazy to get my butt over there. Loving this place. Serving delicious craft beers on tap & bottle and lovely wine list. Delicious menu. My burger was tasty and nice: p Love the courtyard, very cool tunes on Sunday afternoons. x

The food was delicious. I had the beet salad and fries, and one of the best G&Ts I’ve ever had in my life. The venue had a great vibe too and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended!

It’s been interesting watching this little hole in the wall for takeaway coffee develop into a sophisticated and styling café. Dr Morse isn’t on my usual weekend route but I sometime make the trip down Johnston Street to avail myself of the coin laundry across the road. I try to avoid having a dryer at home due to environmental and money concerns, but melbourne often doesn’t want to play nice with the weather so I drag my butt down to the laundromat. Dr morse has a variety of indoor and outdoor seating in all sorts of configurations so you can always find something to sit you. Lots of gas heaters and fireplaces mean you can snuggle up in even worst melbourne weather. The menu is vegetarian friendly and the options are a fresh take of café food. My charred grilled corn and baked bean Jaffna came out seconds after my coffee was ready. I also like the touch of having a glass of sparkling water with every coffee. Nice.

Great service, amazing coffe, try the Heirloom tomatoes with goat curd on toasted rye & verjuice, so awesome. They cater for vegans and vegetarians. Fabulous outdoor area
