My 6^th grader’s class schedule was completely incorrect; found out through social media that a lot of other kids schedules were screwed up as well. So many mistakes that the principal apologized, said it was computer error (right, not human error?) and every single student will receive a new schedule on the first day of school. My child’s schedule was one of many screw ups. She was placed in regular class in both math and language arts. I knew the math was suppose to be an accelerated class so I told her to find out why she was placed in regular math. I also asked her to find out about language arts to see whether it should be honors. The counselor took so long to do a simple task (by the way, shouldn’t this kind of information already be in the computer system before or at registration?). The math we got it corrected but we got screwed on the language arts. The counselor informs me that my daughter did pass to be in Honors but guess what, «if you take honors class, you need to drop the orchestra because the only unfilled honors class is in the same period as the orchestra class». Wow, if she didn’t take so darn long finding out about the language arts placement test, maybe my child doesn’t have to make a ridiculous choice. No one, not the principal or the district will accomodate both honors language arts and orchestra in this situation, nevermind that they were the culprit. They say one or the other. So, the counselor drags her feet to do her job right and in turn affects my child to have both orchestra and language arts honors class… does this seem right? Watch out people of all grades, as long as this counselor is employed in this school, make sure (VERIFY) that if your child should be in honors class, make sure early on, that this counselor does her job correctly or your child will be affected just like mine. If I am paying taxes to pay for public education to get this kind of screw up, I rather not pay taxes and place my child in private schools. They just don’t want to acknowledge how the school (well, the counselor) messed up. The rule of thumb, if you spilled milk, clean it up, don’t sweep it under the rug and don’t talk nonsense because this is exactly what the school did. By the way, the school district will back up the school, not the parents. Again, if your child goes to this school, be on your toes or they will do what they did to my child. Pretty scary, I know.
