Beyond Reality

I walked into Beyond Reality wanting a Snug piercing. The lady behind the counter was super friendly. The piercer was still learning and she honestly told me that given my anatomy she didn’t feel comfortable performing the piercing but she could call the owner and set up an appointment time with him. Much to my delight he told her that he could be at the shop in 10 minutes. Sure enough, he showed up and pierced my snug. I couldn’t have been happier with the service.

Even though it was my first and last tattoo — the staff was very pleasant and supportive. I was extremely nervous but Wizz made sure I didn’t make a run for it. There’s a small restroom in the back if u need to change clothes or obviously use it — clean. There was a total of 3 people in our and I was second; before starting he wanted to know where I wanted and to make sure I was comfortable.
Please note the minimum price is $ 65… So make sure you get a size which equal up to that value and color included.
He played music, cracker jokes, and OMG he was some nice eye candy to look at as well (yummy). I know I wasn’t cool at all because I couldn’t even look at it as he was tattoo’n — YES IM A BIG BABY but I didn’t cry.

I was in search of a tattoo shop recently and it’s been such a long time since I’ve had one, I felt lost, like I was starting a search from scratch.
I’ve been to Beyond Reality before, but it’s been such a long time since then. My cousin had one done here a few years ago, and I was with her, so I’m familiar with the place and it’s existence.
I read some of the other reviews about the customer service and uninterested attitude of the staff and am glad to say that I did not experience any of that. I called one day to set up a time to come in and speak with one of the artists. My phone call was great… the young lady was helpful and informative, let me know when I could come in and who would be available to do my ink on the day I wanted. I ended up going into the shop to talk about the tattoo I wanted with the actual artist, Wizz. When I got there, everybody was super cool. We talked about my art and a couple of my friends wanted something done, too, so we talked about what they might want. We set up a time and date and we were set.
At the appointment, which was my birthday, Wizz set us up with the paperwork, design, payment and we were ready to get the party started. The place is super clean and professional (licenses, paperwork, etc). Wizz was a lot of fun and is an excellent artist. We. were all very satisfied with our tattoos and had a blast getting them.
The place has tinted windows, so it often looks closed, but it’s not… I’d highly suggest them for quality, professional work.

I went to Beyond Reality twice. The first time was in 2009, the second in 2010.
The first time I went I wanted a simple tattoo. I saw Dennis at the recommendation of friends and he was terrific. Even though I just wanted simple text, he drew up several concepts for me and we discussed them together. It was a good experience.
The second time I went to get a gift certificate for my sister (who wanted her nipples done). I explained to the piercer at the time (Fish, I think his name was) that I was going to tip ahead of time so that she would not have to (I think I tipped $ 20 or $ 25, and the piercings were $ 90 with the jewelry). I also explained that she was very anxious about this piercing, but had wanted it for a while and that I hoped he could put her at ease. He didn’t seem too interested in what I was saying until I tipped ahead of time.
When I brought my sister in (having made an appointment ahead of time) I felt a little like we were bothering them, and that feeling did not go away. She got her piercings and we never went back.

The place is clean and everything, but they do not make you feel welcomed or comfortable when you walk in. The shop monkeys are usually sitting around playing video games or watching a movie and you have to speak to them first.
They don’t have a set pricelist for piercings because they prefer to charge people based on their looks or personality. Great going, guys. They are just horribly overpriced and pretentious.
Overall, you can do better and you can find nicer places.

Beyond Reality is about 45 min from my house. I went there for my latest tattoo based on recommendations from a friend with many tatts. I went specifically to see Dennis, who has an artistic ability that impressed me more than I had expected. I am nothing but thrilled with how my tattoo came out and how honest and talented Dennis is. The other places I have had tattoos, I have found the artists to be cocky and somewhat rude, not really caring that I had to live with the design for the rest of my life.
As is true with most tattoo parlors, it looks pretty shady from the outside, and even a little on the inside. I knocked off a star because other places I have been have tried a *little* harder to make the shop look nice. That is just being picky I suppose, but I admit to being a snob, so I am cool with that. As far as tattoos go, I couldn’t be happier.

I got a tattoo at Beyond Reality in early 2006. They did a good job and the people were very nice.
