I love Wormtown! The beer is consistently good and the menu rotates enough for even us regulars to try something new every so often. I note that several reviewers state that they experienced terrible service. The bartenders, as a whole, are terrific — helpful, friendly, knowledgable. I’ve not had good service from one bartender in particular, but have learned to simply avoid this person and seek out the friendly folks. One person is not a reflection on the whole place. Grab a beer and a spot inside or out, sit back, and relax.

What a great taproom! Went on a Wednesday in the early afternoon. There were only a few people in the place and we were easily able to get service. The bartender was extremely nice and professional.(he changed the music playlist to avoid explicit songs for my kids). Not only that, he truly cared and knew about the beers which is also a major plus. And the beers… everything is at least average and a few were top notch for their style-my favorite was the X series. The pretzel was also delicious. I will definitely return!

A great brewery in downtown Worcester, with wonderful outdoor seating. Brought my brother here recently and we enjoyed the spring sun on our backs as my kids played the provided Hungry Hippos next to me. Breweries that offer things for the kiddos to do are a win in my book. The beers are fantastic as well! Will definitely be back.

I come from Boston to visit this place. It should make the dreck brewed in Boston tremble in their wussy boots. Yes i am looking at you Trillium… godawful pretentious waste.

Nice little brewery! Great selection for whatever you palate desires. We got two samplers to share and glad we did! The variety and names were wonderful. Only disappointment was not being able to get a souvenir koozy or bottle opener because they were out of stock.

The beer is delicious, but the service was absolutely TERRIBLE. This was my first and last time visiting Wormtown. I love the Be Hoppy and was excited to go the source, but upon arrival, the miserable«bartender» was rude to me and my friends. I asked a simple question about getting a flight and she nastily replied no I can’t get a flight, offering no help. When I awkwardly and uncomfortably explained that I would be sharing the flight, and inquired about prices, she pointed to the barely legible chalkboard, curtly groaning that I could read it myself. I came in to give you my money, why would the drink pourer make her customers feel stupid for not knowing what or how to order? I was very taken aback. This shows no passion; someone else would love to have that job. What I hoped would be a great experience learning about Worcester and drinking delicious beers turned out to be a customer service disaster. I really don’t know how Wormtown is open with that kind of service. We’ll be taking our business elsewhere, but with that being said, the beer was delicious. You guys can do something well.

Good beer but terrible service. I have been here three times and the bartenders are consistently bad. Slow and surly service every time. The most recent visit I asked how much it would cost to get two samplers of all 8 beers(4 beers in 2 sampler trays). The lady bartender snidely said«I don’t know, they all cost different amounts, just look up at the board…». The board being a chalk board that was hard to read and appeared to have beers that were not listed on the menu so it was hard to tell which beer cost what. She could have looked at the board for us or at the very least just not replied like we were jerks for wanting to make a purchase. I can only guess this is a fairly common request and I am sure she is this nasty with everyone. We just left without bothering to spend any money there so she lost a tip and customers. Honestly the brewery should just charge $ 2 a beer to make it easier. Or get new bartenders who like to help customers.

Not sure why I have not reviewed previously, Tap room on steroids. Every beer here is super tasty. Hopulence DIPA — that’s what I’m gonna name my next kid. Expansion, expansion, expansion… if you make a fantastic product, people will come and come. I very willingly drive 40 miles for a growler fill. Hit up next door for some pizza if you hungry, no food here, but Shrewsbury St. will provide. Cannot beat the beer here. Glad I knew them when they were somewhat small.

Great beer and fun, casual atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. Love the live music. Also great to get growlers to take home(and refill). Their beer never disappoints!

I’ve been to Wormtown Brewery twice now — and the second time took the tour(thanks Bruce!). On both occasions, I came on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The place was comfortably full, has had a really interesting mix of patrons, and the atmosphere is really friendly. They recently started serving hot pretzels as a food option — which is a life saver because those IPA’s really creep up on you! I love the indoor/outdoor feel of the main area and the sliding/collapsing door between the two. It definitely makes the place feel bigger. We’ve purchased t shirts, mugs, taken home growlers — everything was high quality. Most recently took some family here visiting from out of town — would definitely recommend this as a low key relaxing place to impress friends/family or as a great spot when the weather is nice to just hang with your pals. Walking distance to lots of food if the pretzels don’t tide you over :)

Their IPA’s are all effectively hoppy and won’t disappoint. The B Hoppy is especially good with a smooth piney finish. I’ve been drinking their excellent craft beers for years now and will continue. Jim

I’ve had their beer before. It’s pretty good. I give them two stars for that alone. I do not like that they support turtleboy blog. It’s unprofessional and I don’t want to spend $ supporting that. Other than that it’s a nice place to visit and I wish I could support it.

So happy they moved to a bigger & better location! Nothing beats grabbing a flight and sitting outside on a warm, sunny afternoon. The staff behind the bar have been friendly and helpful whenever I had trouble deciding. During the colder weather, seating & space can be a bit tight when they’re busy. When it’s warm, they have a great patio space to take advantage of. Be Hoppy, Hopulence & Buddha’s Juice are a few of the best by Wormtown. Definitely a Worcester staple.

Delicious beer — Porters, Stouts, IPAs, Lagers and seasonals. The Blizzard of ’78 is exceptional. Great atmosphere in the taproom too. For holidays or other special events, get there early to get your growlers filled as the wait can be long.

Awesome local brewery to grab a fresh beer, definitely worth a stop if your around Worcester. You can’t go wrong with any of their IPAs, very reliable.

First time at Wormtown and based on experienced at other micro brewery type establishments the experience was extremely sub par. The brew list on the blackboard tells you nothing about the beer listed other than the alcohol content and a funky name. That would be fine if the bar tender would give you the least bit of help choosing a beer. Clerk 239 acted so bothered that I didn’t already know about the beers. She was dismissive and completely rude. The pumpkin beer tasted like Budwieser, the Wheat and 7 Hills were unmemorable. I would have enjoyed the beer more if the staff were the least bit courteous and helpful. Seating was limited and very uncomfortable. I won’t be going out of my way to return.

I love it here! I just wish that they were open later! They have a window behind the bar so that you can see the brewery and the bar itself is super clean. Cute little patio out front. Most often you’ll find people coming here for a drink after work.

my boyfriend and i recently had a great afternoon here. as other reviews mention, the atmosphere is very casual and relaxed. we’ve been to a bunch of breweries, but they all operate a little differently, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect here. upon entrance, we mosied up to the bar and were promptly greeted. after i said it was our first time, we were given an excellent breakdown of what was available for us(flights, pints, growlers, etc.). we each decided to go with a flight, and sat outside. all of the beers were tasty, but my favorite was the masshole red; the flavor is really smooth and nuanced. my boyfriend enjoyed the pumpkin patch(which i honestly had expected to be a bit sweeter, based on the smell), as well as the be hoppy. if you’re in the area, i highly recommend checking out wormtown. you won’t be disappointed.

Small Brewery with nice outdoor patio. I believe they have beer tour. Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. Try their flight if you want to try variety of beers. Check out their hours prior to visiting. They close early.

Really great place to spend a sunny afternoon. The beer selection is quite impressive for a new brewery. Also the beer is really good, especially if you are into hoppy ales. Also, great that you can grab pizza from volturno next door and eat it at the brewery! This place is a much needed establishment on shrewsbury street

Wormtown finally opened their own location where they can showcase what they do! There are beer choices for all different palates, and beer sizes for all different thirsts. The outside patio is a perfect place to enjoy a cold beer on a summer night. The staff is friendly and knowedgable so they can help you choose from their vast beer selection. The prices are VERY reasonable. Start at Wormtown, head to Volturno for dinner, and then to Sweet for dessert. Wormtown is a welcome addition to the already thriving Shrewsbury Street.

Delicious beer and lots of variety. Their Be Hoppy IPA reminds me a lot of Fremont Brewery’s IPA, my very favorite beer. I will definitely be back!

Located off of Shrewsbury st, this place is a great place to meet up with friends to enjoy some great beers. Most of their beers are bitter hoppy/IPA based(which are delicious) but they do offer a couple other styles of beers(highly recommend the kola beer/citron wit and heffewise beer).

Finally! I’ve always liked their beer, but wasn’t a fan of using a restaurant as their taproom. They have an expansive selection available and most of them are very good. I wasn’t a huge fan of their triple IPA. Homefield, Be Hoppy, and Hopulence are all outstanding. Wormtown seems to specialize in hoppy beers, but I have enjoyed their Irish Red and Hefeweizen. The taproom is a big improvement over the old location, but I think 3Cross(the other Worcester brewery) has a better vibe going on. It looked like they were in the process installing a patio, which could greatly improve things.
