We had used Martin to fully service the heating unit at our home in Topanga a few years ago & when the A/​C unit in our Chatsworth condo was having problems we called a number of companies & he was very quick to reply, competitive & able to schedule the work immediately. Martin A/​C is professional, reliable & I would highly recommend them for any job.

I’m lucky to have come into contact with Martin and listened to his advice. I have an upstairs business that gets hot even in the winter and had explored various options for resolving my climate control situation. All of the other bids on my job were very expensive and taped into the existing AC/​heating system which I was dissatisfied with on many levels. Martin came up with an original plan that used a separate unit from the existing one and was very reasonable. Most importantly the unit is very effective at cooling and to my pleasant surprise worked well to heat my unit during a recent weeks relative «cold spell.» I highly recommend Martin AC.

I left messages for numerous AC repair companies when my unit started struggling to keep up with our usual mid-​summer demand. Martin replied most promptly and we scheduled an appointment for the next day. He and his assistant arrived to the appointment early and waited patiently while I completed some errands. They quickly discovered the issue and resolved it with care. Martin AC comes highly recommended.

Martin is professional and does a great job. Martin was recommended to us by our previous AC professional when he retired. He came earlier in the month to do a preventative maintenance and then again yesterday when the unit stopped working. He was able to diagnose and resolve the problem quickly and at a fair price. Martin came to the rescue on a Sunday afternoon and did a great job on top of that!
I would definitely recommend him but fear he wouldn’t be available if we needed him.
He was prompt and careful and thorough. He didn’t automatically try to sell me a big job or new parts. He fixed it and gave us a 90 day warrantee.
I had been a loyal customer of Kahn for 10 years and paid 500 a year for their maintenance program. But today they wanted 300 dollars surcharge just to come over. And i had paid them 340 dollars two weeks ago to fix the same problem!!! Today I said no and got Martin for no extra charge. Goodbye Kahn, hello Martin!

Well, sorry to rain on the Martin A/​C parade here but my experience was less than stellar — overcharged for the work done.
Pros:
1. Came quickly after I called
2. Was courteous, diagnosed the problem quickly
3. Got it done quickly, we were without A/​C for only less than half a day total
Cons:
Turns out the problem was a large ‘Run Capacitor’ on the outside unit had died. I was told $ 275 to replace it along with an A/​C check. This seemed pretty high to me, but we were boiling, so I said OK. Then, while they were here working, I searched on «run capacitor’ and learned about the price range that is usual for this service. First of all, the part — even a big one — will run $ 35 max. Generally they are in the $ 15 – 25 range. So, what’s a fair price? Well, many others on discussion boards about this feel the $ 119 MAX for a service call + parts cost = $ 155 absolute maximum for this service. Others had had it done for $ 110 total, others had paid $ 200 – 250 then realized they’d been a bit ripped after researching the problem.
I have a feeling that they saw I was in a fairly nice neighborhood — saw the nice cars in my garage that I worked my ass off for, and thought, «hey, we can charge this guy $ 275.» After all, if someone lives in a nicer house or has nice cars, it must mean they can pay whatever number we throw out there — not that they worked their butts off for these things and know what fair and unfair pricing is.
When I confronted them with a printout showing the part was $ 20, he stammered a bit and couldn’t really give a good reason why they were charging $ 275 for less than 40 min. of work and a $ 20 part. He told me he’d do me a favor and drop the price to $ 250.
So, in short, my A/​C works again, I am out $ 250, and Martin A/​C got my business one time. They will never get it again.

Tho’ my first time with A/​C, I just sensed it was not as efficient as possible. I called Martin A/​C and he came the next morning. The refrigerant was down by 1/​3, which he promptly fixed, and then checked the rest of the unit lines and connectors for leaks. It is working very efficiently now, and I thought the price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend the company.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED
Martin came to our house yesterday to fix the heater and after evaluating the problem informed us that he will come back tomorrow (today) BUT he did not show up. I had to not go to work and wait for him all day. Originally he said that he will come in the morning but after my first call it moved to couple of hours and after 3 – 4 more calls, he informed me he is busy and can’t make it today. What a disappointment and a waste of my time.
I will not be using this company ever again or referring them to anyone. They don’t know customer service and the guy never picks up his cell.

Martin A/​C came highly recommended from my brother in law who has used them in the past. I quickly called them since my A/​C unit wasn’t shutting off and the lines had frozen over. I pulled the fuse and called Martin AC expecting to set up and appointment for an inspection this week, but I was delighted to hear that he was available the same day.
Martin showed up within 30 min and got to work quickly. After troubleshooting the problem he explained the cause and repaired the unit at a great price. Most importantly, my AC unit was properly serviced after many years of neglect by me. Martin A/​C was very professional and courteous and I would have no problem recommending them to anyone.

I had called on a Saturday during Labor Day weekend. Martin has messaged me after I posted this review expressing his hopes my situation was resolved (it was), and explaining «we are … not listed as an „emergency 24/​7“ business.» Good to know. I thought «call today» on the website means call today. Thanks for the email, Martin.

My AC was freezing over and pumping out only moderately-​cooled air during the hottest weeks of 2012. After trying unsuccessfully to adjust around it with ceiling fans and opening windows at night, I called Martin A/​C.
Their representative showed up on-​time with one assistant, and immediately got to work. Within minutes, he identified the problem: not enough charge in the main AC unit. He adjusted it, then checked the flow and temperature of air in the house. Almost immediately, it began to start cooling down. I’m now looking at a thermostat at 76 which for the past two weeks was consistently above 89. Don’t know why I waited so long.
He told me my unit was very solid, and that we should be able to go for many more years without the need for any expensive repairs. He charged a completely fair price, and I am basking in my newly-​cooled house.
Even my dog looks happier.

I know it’s 100+ degrees, and he did come the same day. Very professional and the problem WAS fixed.
BUT. $ 275 to replace a $ 30 capacitor in ten minutes is excessive, in my opinion, I don’t care what the circumstances are.
So – Ask questions first. How much of the charge is the part? Can I see the old part you removed? Etc. Be a wise shopper and you’ll probably make out better than I did on the cost of this repair.

He’s the best!!!
I always get a little intimidated with this kind of stuff– I have no idea how much things generally cost and I’m afraid I’ll get taken advantage of… but not with this. Not with him. He returned every call right away. He made himself available within a days notice. He showed up on time. He fixed my air conditioning system within a ½ hour. He’s honest and his prices reflect as such.
