This location is closed. Must have closed a long time ago, the phone rings and says the mailbox is full but it’s because they have shit down.

Terrible customer service. Rarely reachable as most of the time their phone either goes directly to a messages saying it is not set up to receive calls without ringing — or it goes to an answering service letting you know that you’ll have to call back as they don’t check voicemails. Really? I finally had to call Apple Care and have someone from Apple call them only to discover they still refused to give any timeline for the supposed repair they were doing on my iMac. Apple assured me they will be rescinding authorization for MacTalk to handle AppleCare service. Thank God. This was the worst experience. Now I have to wait for my iMac to be returned to the Ventura store only to have to now drive it back out to the Apple Thousand Oaks location to begin the whole process afresh. An awful experience from start to finish. I recommend you run the opposite direction from MacTalk. Will never, ever return here.

Mac Talk is totally unprofessional who waste precious time of customers. First I called about the parts, which they gave me the price. So I went into get the service done. They were out of stock and said they would get it in on Monday. I called Monday and nothing. I called later in the day and no shipment. He said it will hopefully be in on Tuesday. So I called in the middle of the day and once again not in stock.
Please people be honest. Don’t say that you will get a part in by a certain time if you don’t know. If I knew of this I would have gone to another store for the service. If they had to order it I would have gotten it way long before.
I finally went to another store and they had tons of them in stock. A much more professional store.
Mac Talk only wastes time and for a professional like myself who needs his computer for deadlines and work time is valuable.

I was desperate and ignored the negative reviews. Never again. It cost me $ 80 for their mistake and I got a part I didn’t need. Before I went in I called to make sure they had the battery I thought I might need for my laptop. The gentleman said they did and to bring in my computer and they would make sure it was the battery. I thought that was nice, it made me feel good about shopping there despite the negative reviews. When I went to the store I asked for the battery. The salesperson got it for me. Before she charged me, I asked her, shouldn’t you make sure it’s the battery? Maybe it’s a cable, the power adapter? She said no. I trusted her expertise. Big Mistake.
I took the laptop home. After a few minutes my laptop shut off. Why? Because it was not the battery! It was the power adapter. When I took it back and asked for an exchange she said she’d have to charge me for it because it was policy: She had unwrapped it, briefly put it inside my laptop, saw there was a charge, so they had to charge me for the battery, the battery I did not need. No one ever told me about this policy.
After getting no where with her and being on the receiving end of bad communications, that in no way resembled good customer service, and her repeating it was policy again… Though she hesitated when I reminded her that I had asked her to check the power adapter to make sure it really was the battery, she gave me the manager’s phone numer. When he returned my call, I emphasized the fact that I asked her to check the power adapter BEFORE she charged me for the battery. It didn’t matter he said, the battery was mine, now you have two.
This policy was never discussed with me. If it had been I would have insisted they test the power adapter. I will never shop there again or recommend them. I lost $ 80! Even if you are desperate like I was, it would not be worth it, in time, effort or your wallet.

This place is awful. Rude technician, paid over $ 600 to have data recovery and transfer to a new hard disc, and was basically given a rats nest. Multiple duplicate files and so disorganize as to be useless! Stay away from here. They were recommended by the Apple store, but do not listen.

This place sucks and is a rip off… Anybody that has claimed to have a good experience here just doesn’t know any better. $ 120 labor to put a $ 160 battery in your laptop which takes about 5 – 10 minutes. Oh and they won’t sell you the battery without paying for installation.
Dishonest and overpriced!!!

This is just RESONATING with me as I deal with the aftermath everyday with my mac.
I’ll spare you the long annoying story, but I tend to write mainly negative reviews on Unilocal in order to help others avoid exceptionally bad experiences in a world which should be observing original trusting values, of which we were born with. Positive reviews are important, but negative reviews are MORE important to me, as these reflect reality more often.
Flat-​out this little shop is an extortion pit. They are actually stealing people’s hard earned cash and are 3 TIMES more expensive as well as leaving you with unfinished work.
My entire Adobe suite and all programs are gone. I asked them to clean the computer. I didn’t ask them to leave me high and dry.

Omg. Dont waste your time here. Not sure what to make of what I saw and how I was quoted on a repair to my mac book pro 2009. 500 $ for what? Plus 125 $ for what??? And work on by who? Been in business for a while and still a FAIL…, HEADS UP… THIS PLACE IS TOTALLY WEIRD!!!

I’m really surprised of the negative reviews, but I guess it’s just part of doing business. I had a great experience. My Mac was no longer allowing itself to recharge. I took it to the Genius Bar, where they said a small liquid stain (barely touching any of the mechanics) totally negated my Apple Care coverage and they’d have to ship it off and not only fix the item damaged, but anything else that MIGHT POSSIBLY have been touched by this liquid. Up to $ 750, they said. Heck no. So I went to Mac Talk. Long story short: In under 24 hours (not even paying for expedited service) my issue was fixed, and cost less than $ 200. So grateful to them. Really had a great experience.

I’ve used Mac Talk a couple of times for the past 10 years before the days of
and such. Ironically, as more self-​help options have become available, Mac Talk has become more smug and unhelpful. The staff seems bored and borderline rude. They charge 50.00 to even guess what the problem may be. For example, my son cracked his screen on his MacBook Pro. I know the screen is cracked and it could need a new display, glass, or both. I asked for a general ballpark of cost and the person helping kept saying they had no idea. That is less than truthful. This employee has been working there for over 8 years and has seen hundreds of cracked screens. By the way, the cost should be around 350 to 500 dollars in the worst case. I had to do my own research, of course. Needless to say, I did not leave the laptop with them. I can’t see them staying in business much longer. Too bad. They were a pretty decent business a few years back.

Ripped OFF by these scammers !!! This company is terrible! Unprofessional and uncaring. I brought my MAC into the store to get it repaired. They charge a $ 50 inspection fee and said the $ 50 would go towards repairing of the computer, so I was okay with that. The next day they called me and said that the computer will not be able to get repaired… ummm ??? I went in and they then told me that when they plugged my computer into the socket, «sparks flew.» Okayyy, what does that mean exactly? … After «sparks flew» they did no additional inspection and just said that my motherboard and computer was done. All they did was plug my computer in and fried my computer somehow. They broke my computer. Since I could of plugged my computer in to see
«sparks fly» and since they did not inspect my computer, I asked for them to refund my $ 50 or give me store credit. They said I would need to email the store manager and that he is busy training a new tech. I received a reply 2 days later which said that my «deposit is not unfairly kept but was applied to the service rendered, call it diagnostics and assessment. OKAY FOR YOU TO BREAK MY FAVORITE COMPUTER OF ALL TIME!!! NO! They plugged it in saw sparks and did not inspect a thing. I asked the manager Kyle to at least give me store credit but he denied that as well, simply my not replying to me. Utterly ridiculous! There are so much competition for computer repair you would think they would treat their customers with care and respect. They are only in it to gouge you for as much money as they can get. Do not take your mac here. If you do, you take the chance of having your computer broken by a inconsiderate, unprofessional, money hungry company. BEWARE of Mac Talk Inc. I don’t like giving them 1 star.

Do not use these people. I just called to ask a simple question before I brought in my ipad for service and the woman, Tara, did not understand my entire question, she only understood part of it. I told her multiple times I was willing to pay but I needed a simple question answered first that was «not a technical question.» She just kept repeating their fees over and over to me and stated repeatedly advice was not free. I asked her 4 times to please speak with a supervisor and she refused… If you don’t mind being completely frustrated, patronize this business, otherwise, stay away.

I was nervous because the reviews on Unilocal are mixed, but I had great service here, and now I have a working computer!
I needed the inverter cable on my laptop replaced (the backlight doesn’t work without it). I originally took it to the Apple Store and they told me they couldn’t replace the cable without replacing the whole screen. I said no thank you and took it to Mac Talk. They fixed the cable in a day and now everything works perfectly.
It cost $ 140 in total. Labor was $ 120 an hour, which is more than I’d like to spend, but fortunately I only needed 1 hour of labor. Also, because they didn’t replace the screen, the total cost was half of what the Apple Store quoted me. So overall I saved quite a bit of money.

Kinda pricey, however, their customer service could also use some improvement.
However, the nicest person there Natalie and was probably Steve, the owner.

I purchased a MacBook on 11÷27÷09 and picked it up on 12÷1÷09. It is unopened and I want to return it due it being the wrong gift. I am a long time customer of Mac Talk and asked if they could refund the full amount to my credit card. Kyle, the manager, flat out refused. Competing stores offer a full refund within 14 days of purchase. I believe Mac Talk’s policies to be outdated and anti-​consumer. This hostile approach to dealing with long time and committed customers has lost Mac Talk my business.

Thank you Mac Talk. My Hard Drive crashed on Wednesday evening.
I entered Mac Talk around 10:30 am on Thursday and requested Expedited Service for $ 150.00. Two hours later they called with the diagnosis. My computer was ready at around 2:30 pm. I called back with a question about Time Machine back up and Migration Assistant for my now repaired Mac and Jason from service spent several minutes on the phone walking me through what I had to do to restore my computer. Quick excellent service and well worth the price for expedited service.

the first rule of Unilocal is check Unilocal first. I learned this the hard way. My school computer had a broken screen. it had happen over the summer when i wasn’t there. I asked the principal about it and he said get a price. So I take it over to Mac Talk and the guy behind the counter says its 95 $ to check it out.
Now in the back of my mind i am thinking «It is a cracked screen, what is there to check out, they will just get me a price and i will either pay for it to be fixed or not.»
About a week later I get a call from them and they say 800 smakers.
Gulp!
I can buy a new computer for a few bones more. So I tell em «No Gracias». I will just pick it up.
Silence for a moment on the other end.
Ok. So i wait a day or two and go in to pick it up. It is still not ready. the best part was the attitude.
It was a cracked screen for goodness sake.
A week goes by and I call to see if it is ready. It was. I go in and pay the 95 dollars. Again they were in their rights, As I was just stupid for thinking it was going to go alright.
It is a shame since I have over twenty Macs that need servicing from time to time, but not here.

They have no clue on tech support. Lied about an additional service they did, which they never performed , and then charge us! We had to take our computer to another store who knew what they are doing and did what was needed.
If you trust «stoner dudes» to work on your computer then go to them .
If you want professional «adult» computer techs to work on your computer, then go elsewhere !

If you like sub-​standard service, wasting time and dealing with incompetent associates… then this is your store. For the rest of the MAC users out there go to the Apple store. The service, solutions, selection and prices are better.
These losers tried to charge me almost $ 500 for a solution that took all of 10 secs to perform on my own (after talking to a real Apple expert) at zero cost. Did I report them to Apple? You bet. If it were up to me I would pull their status as an authorized vendor & repair shop in a heartbeat.
This is the kind of computer repair shop that reminds you of those sleazy auto repair shops that show up on the news.
Go to the Apple store. You’ll never regret their customer experience. Live and learn.
