After reading al the reviews I reluctantly used Paul’s big mistake the arrived late told me 12 came at 5 broke my furniture even though assured me the loud bang I heard was there truck on arrival unpaid before offload and found my China cabinet in pieces all the depression glass broken it’s impossible to fix I paid for insurance through his company and the refuse to pay for repair I think he took my money and didn’t file paperwork his insurance has no record of my move I’m currently heading to small claims court this moving company is an atrocity wish I could give 0 stars

Owner is a drunk crew doesn’t speak English and destroyed all my boxes labeled fragile his crew wrapped and broke all my dishes owner said not my fault even though charges me to wrap them do not use. he threatens customers and hires day laborer sounds like if he doesn’t agree with reviews lies about his jobs prices lack of insurance put the bottle down and if u illegally charge my credit card I’ll go to the police

I have used Paul’s Moving three times. The first two were office moves, and the most recent was packing furniture in a large shipping container for overseas. They were very professional and got the job done. The container was packed expertly, everything arrived without damage. Paul takes a personal interest in his customers, easier to deal with than some large moving company that charges a lot more. I recommend Paul’s without hesitation.

I’m honestly surprised at the number of negative reviews here. I hired Paul’s Moving to hoist a couch out of my 3^rd-​floor apartment window. I spoke to Paul on the phone a couple of times to schedule the hoist based on availability and weather, and everything went smoothly. The day of the move, Paul and his crew showed up right on time, and worked very efficiently. They wrapped the couch in furniture pads, and Paul ended up selling the pads to me for a bargain ($ 20) so that I could keep the pads on the couch while my dad drove the couch to my new place. Everything was really smooth, and the crew couldn’t have been nicer. I’d definitely hire them again and recommend them to anyone.

I had a flight out of Boston at 8 pm and figured I could schedule a moving company for 8 am to help me move out of my Allston studio. After all, the mover said it shouldn’t take more than three hours. This guy then proceeds to not show up until after 1 pm, without any semblance of apology, and does his work angrily the entire time. He has an assistant with him, a skinny high-​school age kid, but since I am running late for my flight I end up doing a large portion of the work on both ends of the move. We don’t finish until 6.
All the meanwhile this dude could give two shits that he showed up five hours late, causing me to stress out about a flight I should have been able to catch with plenty of time to spare. Not a good look.

The movers showed up and nothing was damaged. I went back and forth with Paul about the date of the move, which I totally understand because end of August is a busy time for moves. I was told people would be at our place around 10– no one showed up until 12:30. I called Paul three or four times to make sure someone was coming, and he was very hard to get a hold of. The guys who showed up were nice and hardworking, but it was clear to us that one of them had never moved professionally before, they worked slower than I thought they would have. The job was originally quoted to us as two and a half hours, and ended up taking five– the price per hour was low enough that it still beat the competitors prices.

I read the other reviews here on Unilocal after my move was completed and couldn’t believe any of them to be true. These guys were great and I’ll be sure to use them again in future moves in the area. Even on the busiest moving day in Boston, they were able to fit me into their schedule and move me and another roommate all in the same day. My furniture was treated with care and found nothing damaged after finishing unpacking just this past weekend. These guys were friendly, hardworking, and definitely worth the money you put down for a moving service.
I’m not sure what was happening in the past to result in such negative reviews, but my moving experience this past Sept. 1 was great!

The worst ever… do NOT hire this company…2 hours late, a guy short, Paul is a lunatic and asked me if I had cash to give to someone if they showed up to help!!! Mind you, I booked well in advance, went over everything including the fact I told him it was a 4^th floor walk up, he didn’t tell his movers this!!! I have scratched furniture, a piece left in the foyer… the movers couldn’t fit it??? and Paul offers free storage for a month… what does that resolve, he couldn’t give me a straight answer as to disassembly… most companies do that (his workers advised against storage as Paul is known to sell left items on craigslist, hoping you won’t get it out of storage) Paul was rude and condescing throughout the entire experience, often hanging up on me… I mean he asked me for cash to pay his random worker (which turned out to be 2 kids… literally on bicycles that carried boxes up)…best of all… they left the door to my apartment unable to close and lock!!! I live in the city and Paul tells me all of his workers have the day off and he will come… no way do I want to deal with that guy ever again… do not call, do not use this company… in this case you dont get what you pay for and this company should be shut down.

**Updated 8÷12÷13 — The response from Paul below is fictional and so far from true. My wife was aghast at his behavior as she could hear him on the phone. Paul was begged to keep the appointment and told he would be paid for services. Let me ask you. why would someone who supposedly cancelled an appointment for a better rate even care to post a rating or review about a service?

Paul backed out just days before the move and left my family out to dry on a cross country move. He quoted 3 – 4 hours for a job that took Titan moving less than an hour.
He was very unprofessional and just an angry person; that included yelling and hanging up.
Titan also wrapped and loaded furniture into the truck that was not theirs (something Paul complained about). Paul could not remember what we had discussed when booking his services because apparently he took bad notes. He also never sent a receipt.
Titan did not complain and was extremely happy to provide these services. Def Not the experience from Paul!!! If you need hoisting and don’t want someone to back out on you I do recommend you call Titan moving first.
Paul’s moving service was the worst experience I have ever had in my 30+ years and 15+ moves. Actually probably the worst experience I’ve ever had with a business providing services. Please take caution! I would rate lower than 1 star if possible.

Paul, you messed us up, but we forgive you. I see how you do business, and why some people are happy with you and why some are not. I wish I could have been one of the former, but you caused us a lot of trouble. Because of you, my view of Craigslist (where I found you) and the Better Business Bureau (that approved you on your website) has plunged to the depths. Do you remember us? We had to move a piano out of a house that we just sold. It had to be done, because the final walkthrough was the next morning, and the buyer could have leveraged the piano’s presence against us. The day of the move, you had scheduled two teams of two people each to meet at the house and move the piano. The first team of two guys was HOURS late. When they showed up, they said they couldn’t move the piano without the other team. While we were trying to reach you, there was lots of rain, and the first team LEFT (ran away!). The second team arrived even later. They said they couldn’t move the piano without the other team. While I was playing TXT tag with you, Paul, the second team also ran away! Remember that day? You were too sick to answer the phone, so you could only TXT me. In the end, you stopped texting also (hope you didn’t die). Without any recourse, I tried calling every piano mover, but they were booked. So, I see that booking you on short notice was a sign that you *jam* and *cram* your moves so much that it’s beyond the point of bursting. If we didn’t have a drop-​dead deadline, or if we didn’t have a piano move (requiring both teams to be there at the same time), then it wouldn’t have been so bad. As it stands, you can’t get more than one star from me. I wish better for the next guy/​gal.

I moved from Boston to NY and used Paul’s moving services because they quoted me the cheapest rate (2 men loading, 1 man unloading). They managed to squish my entire 1 BR into a small UHaul camioneta, which was awesome. My stuff arrived on time and undamaged. I would use again.

I moved last weekend (something I’m not a fan of doing), but Paul’s Moving Service made the experience pretty painless, and I would recommend his company to anyone.
One thing that I appreciated from Paul was his flexibility. When I first contacted him, I was unsure of my move-​in date, but he was able to give me a large window of availability while I nailed it down with my landlord. He also was able to secure the required city permit (for a fee) saving me the trouble of getting it myself.
On move-​in day his employees showed up exactly on time, and they were very friendly and professional. Things went a little slower than I expected during the loading stage, but this was mainly due to their meticulous attention to securing all of my stuff by wrapping it and making sure it was safe.
Unloading went very quick. The only snag came when one of my bookcases wouldn’t fit up my just-​a-​little-​to-​narrow stairs. We called Paul and he suggested that he would come back another day with another few guys to do a hoist up to the 2^nd floor porch. Great idea, but I wasn’t excited about the prospect of having to pay as if it were a completely unrelated second job, which is what he proposed. After refusing to pay more than the piece was worth to get it up, we eventually settled on a flat rate price that was reasonable. He came back the next day with his team and we got the bookcase in fairly easily.
Overall, I’d say that Paul was a professional, who knows his stuff, and I’d recommend him to anyone who is moving.

I was able to get a reservation with Paul to help with the move in less than 24 hours of Sept 1^st. I was moving out of a shared apartment and into a 1 bedroom.
Paul showed up about 1 hour late, but he was coming from downtown during Boston moving day. Hard to fault him for that. I was also particularly easy going because it was such a last minute reservation.
Packing the trailer took a little longer than I expected, (I’d moved 2 years previously with mostly the same things and it was significantly faster — and I didn’t help them). I helped Paul the entire move.
Unpacking at the new place was _​very_​fast. They asked where to put the furniture type items and did everything I asked. There was also a very old and structurally unstable IKEA dresser that Paul suggested dumping, but I asked if we could try and move it anyway. It made it to the new place just fine after all.
Paul was good, but not great.

Just wanted to update; I hope others whose reviews were blasted by these con men do the same.
My mother doesn’t have a Unilocal account, which is why I posted this review. She was horribly disappointed with this company. The idea that she would have had to find another company at late notice and enormous additional cost is absurd. I find it incredible that a company would reply to a negative review not in a positive, conciliatory manner, but actually blame its customers for its gross failings.
I was contacted by another Unilocaler letting me know that this company has been able to buy its way into the Better Business Bureau (which is itself being investigated for being corrupt,) and was planning to file a complaint, but was just going to let it go, since it has been OVER A YEAR (way to be on the ball about responding to customer complaints, by the way.) Guess I will have to do that now.
I’m glad Unilocal exists so that I can put the word out there about horrible, swindling people like this. And that I can respond to them when they malign my family.

I don’t know where I read a bunch of positive reviews about Paul’s moving service but somehow I did and was seriously misled. Here are some of the «highlights» of my moving experience:
–2 hours late – Ok fine, moving companies are late especially around September 1^st.
–Paul was rude and short with me on every point of contact. He treated me like an idiot and made me feel cheap for trying to hold him to his word and contract. On one such instance he decided to change things last minute and pressured me to be OK with it (obviously an extra charge) until I conceded. He called/​texted me over 10 times the day of– because everyone needs that the day they move, right?
–Crew was nice/​friendly and relatively efficient when they arrived but didn’t clean up after themselves. I still have tarps here from the move.
–On two occasions (the pick up AND drop off) the crew would have forgotten a number of my things had I not (literally) run after them to say, «hey, you forgot my _​_​_​_​_​_​!!!»
–Scratched beautiful wood bed and failed to leave me with all of the energy saving light bulbs (that are supposed to last years and are not cheap) that they unscrewed when moving all of my lighting pieces.
An expensive and time-​consuming mistake.

All I needed was a Hot Tub moved. I called around and got estimates from $ 600 to over $ 1000. Pauls came in at $ 400.
I was worried about the reviews I read but went forward anyway.
I did have an unxpected change in move date but I was flexible in date of move so I didn’t have any issue with it.
I will say that the communication exceeded my expectations. I prefer to do things via email as it’s not easy for me to do personal stuff in my cube. The whole thing was handled easily and quickly with only a brief phone call for the deposit.
I’m glad I went with Pauls. Saved myself a few hundred bucks. The move went smooth as can be and I’m completely happy.

I used Paul’s moving company to move from a second floor condo into a storage unit. I scheduled them about 6 weeks in advance because I had to move on a certain day due a really hectic schedule while I was trying to move cross country. Paul kept trying to get me to reschedule for the previous day, even though I told him several times I was unavailable. They were supposed to arrive around noon and did not show up until about 4 pm. I had an event at 6:30 pm, so this was extremely annoying.
I was quoted $ 285 for 2 men and a truck and ended up getting charged around $ 320. He conveniently brought a crew of 4 (obviously had needed all 4 of them for a previous job) and offered me a «bargain» flat rate that was supposed to be finished quickly with twice as many movers as needed. Really… I did not need 4 movers. Paul was clearly in a bad mood and was fighting with his guys. They could not get a large piece out of the apartment and spent over 30 minutes trying to get it out. Paul claimed there was no way that they got the piece in without bringing it in through the window, which is not how my previous movers got the piece in. So he ended up hoisting the piece out of the window, damaging the woodwork around the window and in my foyer, the window screen, and the floors throughout my dining room and kitchen in the process.
Paul also tried to take my old mattress for free to try and sell it. It bothered me a lot that he seems to take old furniture from people he moves and then sell it for a profit. I asked him to move it to the back of the house so we could trash it later.
The movers were really nice, but Paul was insufferable. He got lost driving from my house to the storage unit and was in an awful mood when we got to the storage unit, fighting with the guys the whole time about how to unload the truck. I usually tip movers but I (1) could never have afforded to tip all 4 movers he brought, (2) I was charged $ 40 over the quote, and (3) the service was just so so bad I could not tip for that.
Next time, I’m just going to shell out for more expensive movers or just hire some college kids from craigslist. Craigslist randoms would be the same quality as Paul, but a lot cheaper.

This guy was something else… So he called me at 8:45AM to say that although he was schedule for 9, he was going to be late. After several calls back and forth, the guy finally shows up at 3PM… yes, 6 hours after he was scheduled to be there. He was a complete jerk on the phone, even going so far as to hang up on me once. Once he showed up, he and his helper did a pretty decent job. The comment about schizophrenic isn’t far off. The guy is not stable. If you need a mover, look elsewhere… I think Wicked Smart Movers is who I’d go with if I had it to do over.

A moving company is a moving company, and I don’t suppose I can expect more when I was trying to move on the cheap. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for — and when you pay an average price, not great, but not horrible, you get average service.
The movers showed up an hour after scheduled, but did give me a call (literally at the time they were scheduled) to give me a heads-​up. The owner arrived about 20 minutes before his helpers and the job started billing then, even though all he did was walk around my apartment and then hang out on the phone. Once the helpers did arrive, the owner spent another 20 minutes trying to cram the over-​sized box truck into the under-​sized driveway, even though I paid the city to reserve a moving parking spot RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE. (And I had to have someone towed to clear that spot, which the moving truck didn’t even use.) About the time the landlord started arguing with the moving guys about trying to fit the truck into the drive and potential damage to the house and fence, I took off to the new place to prepare for their arrival.
The moving guys showed up with their truck full of my stuff literally two minutes before my parking permit expired. The spot was reserved for 8 hours, and they had to get in under the wire. That made me feel a little stressed (and annoyed.) Once they arrived at my new apartment, they unpacked quickly and efficiently, asking where I would like things and taking the boxes to their designated rooms. The unloading part was very pleasant, which is why I gave them 3 stars instead of 2. However, the owner got very defensive whenever I hooked up the tv (the bf, who watched them pack at the old place, informed me that the tv had gotten a little banged up so I wanted to make sure it still worked.) In spite of the fact that there were cracks in the tv base and new paint swipes on the top of the tv, the owner insisted that ‘nothing happened to the tv’ because he was with it the entire time. I understand him being nervous that I would call him on the damage, but I didn’t like that he lied to me about the condition of the tv and was prepared for the worst when I did turn it on. It worked fine, though, so I chose not to complain about a few paint chips.
I used these guys because my boss used them to move some furniture in his office. They did a very poor job with his furniture move, but he insisted that he was satisfied so I gave them a shot.
I used a private company on two moves in Indiana, and I was very satisfied with their performance and rates. Paul’s performance here in Boston was simply mediocre, and his rates were fairly consistent with quotes I received from other local, small-​name movers. No special deals here.
If you can’t afford the quality, big-​name movers like Gentle Giants, it might be worth a shot to check these guys out. But you’ll probably have the same experience with every other small-​time mover in the phonebook, so don’t go out of your way to track them down.
