Chewuch Inn & Cabins

We have stayed here twice. The second and most recent time we stayed in one of their new cabins. WOW! WOW! WOW!
The Bed was comfortable — which for a hotel is not very common. The cabin itself had really neat décor. We felt like we were in a mini-​home. It was awesome and made a really relaxing interlude in the middle of our two week vacation.
We loved the cabin so much that we are going to come back and book it for a week next year.
BTW — The breakfast is gourmet. One of the best hotel breakfasts we have ever had.

Beautiful property, extremely friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms (memory foam bed in the Corral room!), and the best complimentary breakfast you’ll ever have. Not just because it’s free, but because it’s delicious! ;)
This served as a good halfway point during our drive between Spokane and Vancouver, and I wasn’t expecting much since the Winthrop I knew about 15 years ago was not a place you’d want to stop if you had a choice. But this experience has changed my opinion dramatically. We’re hoping to get back to Winthrop and the Chewuch Inn to spend at least a few days to take more advantage of its close proximity to great hiking in the Cascades!

Great hosts-​very helpful and informative. Delicious breakfast –just wish it started earlier, so we could hit the trail before it gets too hot. Even having coffee, fruit and granola out at 7AM would be nice. We did not realize that the basement unit was not a daylight basement, so NO windows. It would have been nice to have some natural light and a little fresh air. Very dark and cool, which some may love in the summer.

Fabulous food! Really friendly hosts and staff. Clean, good beds and roomy. Convenient to town and ski trail. Very comfy attractive community sitting room.
Both stays have been very good. We are definitely staying here again. Thank you folks for making our stay fabulous!

This place was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I stayed in the Eagle’s nest room in the Fall. Winthrop was stunning in October. It was so romantic and the room had beautiful views. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING. I couldn’t leave without buying some of the homemade granola. Cozy eating area with stunning rock fireplace. Wish we stayed longer and brought our swimsuits for the hot tub. They offer free movie rental too at the front, with a lot of new movies. Definitely will stay here next time and hopefully soon!

First of all, I love Winthrop. It always seems like the community is friendly, supportive and there is no shortage of fun things to do in the area! My family stayed here during the holidays recently and loved it. The small kitchenettes were great in the cabins and let us have snacks and cook dinner, but we all loved the breakfasts in the morning! Great coffee, waffles, yogurt and homemade granola, scones… it was delicious and far surpasses any breakfast I have had at an inn. The hot tub was fantastic during the cold weather and great for after skiing and snowshoeing! Dan and Sally were so helpful and accommodating and we felt so welcome. The cabins and lodge rooms are far enough away from downtown Winthrop that its quiet, serene and peaceful but close enough that it takes about a minute and a half to get downtown. We loved it and I highly recommend Chewuch Inn to everyone!

I almost don’t want to write a review of this gem of a place, because I want to keep it all to myself. The owners and staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and special. The homemade breakfast had vegetarian options and was out of this world amazing. We will be back soon to this cozy and inviting place!

We had a very nice stay there this past weekend. We were in the Marie cabin which was the perfect size for a couple. Very clean and spacious. Also enjoyed the breakfast… great quiche, scones, and waffles. Thank you for making our visit to Winthrop so enjoyable.

Great B&B in Winthrop. We’ve been staying here since 2002 and love to see how the Inn and places around the Valley continue to change. The breakfasts are extremely tasty. This is the perfect place to stay for small families or couples who like a more laidback and relaxed inn. Definitely a great alternative to larger or more expensive lodging in the valley. If you want more privacy, the cabins are fantasic. We prefer to stay in the Inn with close access to the hot tub. Great after a long day skiing or mountain biking.

Went for my birthday and the Balloon Festival in Winthrop. Loved this Inn. We stayed in one of the cabins. They are laid out well with a fireplace and small walk through kitchens. There was a BBQ grill off the back patio as well. Didn’t use it b/​c of all the snow.
Other amenities: a hot tub off the lobby, movie library, tea and coffee throughout the day. They serve breakfast in the morning and have cookies in the evening.
The woman who checked us in was friendly and it was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway.

My husband and I have been to the Chewuch Inn for a few years now, it’s a bit of a winter tradition. The Inn is close to the community trailhead, walking distance to town and the grocery store, and as friendly as it gets.
You can’t beat the breakfast before a day of skiing, the hot tub after, or the general friendliness of Dan and Sally, the owners, and their staff during your visit.
We often stay in the cabins («romantic» version has a fireplace, «country» type has a sofa and full table — better for kids I suppose). We’ve also stayed in their new King rooms (upscale and very very nice) and a couple of the rooms in the actual main building (Eagle’s Nest — smaller but up top, Dancing Bears — kitchenette, fireplace and a bit more room for clothes/​skis than even the cabins).
The one knock I’d give the cabins (especially the romantic ones) is there isn’t any great place for your clothes — can’t store the luggage under the bed since it’s a platform. It’s super minor though, and really only an issue in the winter when you have ski clothes and normal clothes hanging all over the place. But just ask ahead, they’ve got a lot of different rooms with a lot of different configurations and one will fit your and your stuff just perfectly.
Ok, one more minor complaint — stronger coffee needed in the breakfast room! But you have your own coffee maker with excellent nearly unlimited coffee, so you can make your own as black as sludge ;-)
Once or twice we’ve dreamed of getting our own cabin in the Methow, but why would we when the Chewuch makes it just so easy and pleasant?

Super experience. Great friends at a great place. CLEAN is the key for us and clean it was. Pride of ownership is apparent throughout. the hot tub holds tons of people. The owners are nice and the breakfast is great. We will go again!

Totally amazing experience. I expected it to be more rustic, but the cabin was really comfortable (especially for the affordable price).
I stayed in one of the cabins located near the back of the property for 3 nights in August. The cabin was actually really spacious. There’s a parking space right out front. The bathroom is to the right when you walk in and it had 4 sets of towels and complementary toiletries. The queen bed around the corner was soft and the bedding was higher quality than is typical for hotels. The flatscreen tv wasn’t huge, but it got 20 channels and there was a DVD/​VHS player. There’s free wi-​fi and I had no trouble getting a strong signal. The cabin came with a kitchenette stocked with a huge variety of cooking utensils (even an electric kettle and electric griddle!). The heater worked great. There’s a patio out back with two chairs, a wooden table and a nice propane grill. We ended up BBQing out there one night. The owners have even provided folding chairs in the closet because they know you’ll probably have a group of people at your cabin.
The price of the room includes a breakfast served in the lobby at 8AM-9:30. I wasn’t able to go to breakfast but the people I was traveling with had good things to say about it. The common area has tables and there’s a hot-​tub in the back. There’s also 100+ VHS movies available to borrow. We hung out in the lobby playing cards (since the cabins are a bit small to fit many people inside).
Great location. Its a 5 minute drive to downtown Winthrop or a 20 minute walk. I’ll definitely stay here next time I’m in Winthrop.

Great great great place to stay, can be quite inexpensive as well. Clean and well-​furnished with loads of «extras» you don’t get at normal lodgings.
Gracious staff who were warm and friendly and helpful every time I asked for something. The hidden gem (in my opinion) is the breakfast in the morning. Waffles, scones, cinnamon rolls, granola, cereal, yogurt, egg dish, toast, coffee, hot chocolate, orange juice, milk, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. VERY yummy and healthy to boot (okay, the cinnamon rolls were not at all healthy).
We will stay here again.

Stayed here over last weekend in unit 16. Huge room that is very well appointed. King bed is awesome, and I need that for my ‘6“5 size, to many places only have Queens! The room had a great big soaker tub that my wife enjoyed. It also had a fridge, coffee maker, microwave, gas fireplace, and a nice deck to chill on.
I stay in hotels for a living, this place is very nice. Great location, and the breakfast was pretty darn good as well. If you are expecting to be seated at a giant table and meeting guests like someone else mentioned? The breakfast is buffet, so have the right expectations and you will love this place. The Inn is obviously run by people who care about details, I will be recommending it to friends…,

We grabbed one of their individual cabins, which was built for the 3 little pigs but nicely appointed and comfortable. It is just outside of town and it is walkable. The breakfast was great. Very good waffles and lots of fresh, healthy options. Highly recommend for a town with lots of tourist traps!

We recently stayed at the Chewuch Inn. I agree with all of the other reviewers regarding the accommodations. I travel a lot for my job, so I’m pretty picky. We stayed in one of the newer king suites and it was lovely. The breakfast in the morning was really nice as well. The one thing you need to be aware of is that quiet time is at 8 pm. My husband and I aren’t noisy people and have never gotten a complaint until this recent stay. We obviously stayed next door to people who were very sensitive to any noise. It definitely put a damper on how we felt while we were in the room for the rest of the trip. The 8 pm rule is in place to cater to early rising skiers, so if that’s your thing, you’ll love this place. Not sure what they do in the summer, but I’m assuming it’s strictly enforced then as well. Oh, one other minor thing. If you are a sports fan and want to watch any coverage of events on ESPN, you’re out of luck.
