History

Established in 1988.

Born and raised in Northern California, Troy Barnett loved all types of music ever since he was a kid. At the age of 15, he was the DJ at a successful school function, which led to him becoming a DJ at several local events.

After a move to Jacksonville, Florida in 1994, Troy was asked to DJ at a friend’s wedding, which led to a career as a mobile DJ for other events in the area. A year later, he started REAL MUSIC & CO and began networking throughout Northern Florida and providing his services for corporate events, private parties, and charity events. Later on, he gained experience working with entertainers from all over the world with help from Palm Beach Princess Casino Lines.

In 2006, Troy moved back to Northern California to use his knowledge of music and the entertainment

Born and raised in Northern California, Troy Barnett loved all types of music ever since he was a kid. At the age of 15, he was the DJ at a successful school function, which led to him becoming a DJ at several local events. His grandfather Donald Morrison encouraged him to get a degree in radio communications, so Troy enrolled at Chabot Community College where he took classes in Radio Marketing, Theatre Arts, and Improvisation Arts.

I recently hired DJ Barnett for my wedding and cannot recommend him enough. Troy was punctual, professional, he contacted and met with me prior to our wedding, he showed up and set-​up on time and he did just an outstanding job throughout the entire day.
His gear was top notch, he came equipped with lights, a portable sound system for the ceremony and he made everything sound great. I performed a song for my wife during our reception and Troy did a great job miking and mixing the my live sound. That is something that is not easily done!
His ability to keep the ceremony moving as an MC but not be overly chatty or «entertaining» during the wedding was excellent. I can’t say enough good things about Troy and DJ Barnett.
Thank you Troy. You made my wedding more memorable by being a part of it. You do good work and I wish you the best.

We were referred to DJ Barnett by our venue, Inn at Park Winters. We had just interviewed with two or three DJs and, to be honest, were not looking forward to another interview. However, Troy blew us away.
He showed up to the meeting place before our meeting even started, and he was funny, and kind, and just a great person to talk to. He has a great personality and it really showed at our wedding. I cannot tell you how many compliments we got about him. He was very organized and very attentive to our needs. If we wanted something to happen, he made sure that it happened just the way we wanted. He knew how to respond with our guests. He even would check in with me every so often and make sure he was doing a «good enough» job.
Honestly, I recommend DJ Barnett to every single person I hear that is having a wedding or some kind of event. He does such a great job and I guarantee that if you go with him you will not be disappointed.

DJ Barnett was my brother’s wedding DJ two years ago. We thought he did such a fantastic job, so when I was planning my wedding, there was no question who we wanted to go with. He helped us out tremendously when it came down to the last few days leading up to our wedding, helping us plan out the little details of music, dinner, and everything inbetween. He went above and beyond with our wedding and was always very professional. I highly recommend DJ Barnett if you are looking for a great DJ that will help your wedding go exactly as you’d hoped.

We couldn’t have been happier with the service.
DJ Troy took a real interest in our event. He met with us days before the wedding and we went through all our plans and ideas. We went over the timeline and the expectations and had a few requests that were «off the wall» and required flexibility and adaptability from our DJ.
Not only did he handle everything we could come up with… but he was great to brainstorm with or bounce ideas from. He made sure whatever we had in mind or whatever we envisioned was made real. He played music, added small touches with up-​lighting, and his personality and energy really made our reception top tier.
I could write a book on all the positives from Troy. Bottom line, we trusted him with our wedding and he delivered far and above what we asked. HIGHLY recommend.

I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Troy for several years now. I cannot say enough about his professionalism and how I much I relax when I know he is the DJ for the night. That is hard to say these days when you cater a lot of weddings and are sometimes not sure who you will be working with that night. We also use him for our personal parties a couple times a year! So if you are thinking about a local DJ who always goes the extra mile he is the one to hire.

Love Dj Troy Barnett! Just heard him play at fundraiser last Friday did a great job! He’s always helping in comunnity with playing at all fundraiser. He even shaved his head for relay for life to raise money! Not only a great DJ but a very compassionate one! You won’t go wrong hiring him! Hands down best DJ around.

He was our wedding DJ and I was beyond happy with his work he’s probably the only one I didnt have to tell what to do! He worked with my price range, he made my wedding so rememberable!
