Ashton Oaks Apartments

These apartments are so bad I wouldn’t recommend a sewer rat to live here. I have a very close friend that signed the leased at these apartments for a year and gladly she moved out just last month. I’m writing the review from both my and her point-​of-​view because I visited frequently; practically living here myself.
Firstly, the apartments is not in a very great location. There is an immediate turn up a steep hill that has to be made right from the highway. Depending on the car, one has to make a complete stop before turning into the complex. The apartments, aren’t the prettiest looking, but they are good for those looking for ‘first-​time renting’ affordable living. Some of the neighbors are nice, however; there are some very obnoxious people living there too. One day I was awaken by one neighbor from a completely different building screaming and cursing at the maintenance crew. It was very early in the morning yet, it seemed like no one really cared. Instead of maintenance trying to calm her down, they were laughing at her; even making her more annoyed and loud.
These apartments are unsafe to live in as well. My friend came home from work one day to find a couple of police cars at her neighbor’s apartment. Horribly, a young women was gang raped that night inside of her apartment (my friend got the news from another neighbor and later, more from the news). The apartment did not send out any safety tips or a letter to everyone to reassure safety. (My personal apartment sent out a courtesy note because of car robberies going around and tips on additional safety.) The fact that the apartment complex doesn’t keep there lights on for months doesn’t help with safety either. There are nights when I came over and the complete back of the complex was pitch black. This apartment even allow a broken pipe to run for two complete months before fixing it. There was a huge hole in the street with gushing water coming out. It took weeks before they even put caution tape around it.
There aren’t really good activities or community events within these apartments. It seems like no one knows each other or want to know one another. The community pool is broken all year-​round, therefore; no one can use it. There aren’t any area for kids to play or playground. There isn’t side walks to walk pets. The car care center is just a water hose. They have pet poop-​bags throughout the apartment, but they are never stocked. In fact, they are always filled with garbage. Speaking of trash, it is everywhere. They don’t enforce people picking-​up after their pets. I constantly saw abandoned garbage bags underneath the bottom of the apartment stairwells. The stairwells are always dirty with spider webs, leaves, and trash. There community trash dump is always overfilled and looks very hazardous. During the summer, they will wait such a long time to cut their own grass. One time the grass got so high near my friend’s apartment, a neighbor borrowed and cut the grass himself. The cleanliness standard of these apartments are low.
If anything goes wrong in the apartment, it is super frustrating and hard to get staff to help. When they finally pickup the phone, it’s like they beet-​around-​the-​bush. It takes so long to get maintenance out too fix something. There are some very sweet maintenance people, but again, there are some very rude ones that shouldn’t be working there in my opinion. My friend couldn’t get mail for the first few weeks because the mailbox was broken. Mail carriers don’t deliver mail to defective mailboxes, yet it took such a long time to get it fix.
I hate giving bad reviews, but these apartments are just bad. Until Aston Oaks has improve, I’ll recommend another affordable apartment if considering this one.

Do not live here. It was the absolute worst! They were great until I moved in.
During the snow storm no salt was put down on the slope or driveways so people were stuck inside or outside. Cars were parked along the driveway because they could not get up the hill. When we called for help. no one answered.
Nobody ever answers the emergency line. Once, the lock on my door was stuck leaving me stuck inside and It took 6 hours for them to call me back and get it open. I had to climb through my window to get out.
Maintenance is terrible. They always claim to be backed up with requests. I put in a request in October and when I moved out in May the problem still had not been fixed.
Lights are always going off around the complex and they do not get fixed for months leaving it dark in the evenings in front of the apartments, on the steps and around the grounds.
In February trees were cut down and left in front of the apartment buildings up until I left in May. They are probably still there. I complained several times but they always said corporate had to handle it.
The staff seemed exhausted probably because of the quantity of complaints.
Pest control was also horrible. A neighbor saw a scorpion inside his apartment. During my year’s stay, they only came in once in the Fall to spray.
The pool is never open and was not well maintained. It was apparently not up to health standards and closed.
There is no tennis court. Barely a pool. The laundry machines never work. The mail area is filthy. There is no appeal to this place. Once, the trash was not collected for 3 weeks. Seeing as though we pay a trash fee, I am not sure where that money went.
The apartments needed paint. The stairs were never swept. Walls were dirty. Corridors were filthy. Trash stayed on the ground.
I was so relieved to move out and would not recommend this place to anyone. In fact, I am trying to save someone from experiencing what I went through. Don’t live here unless you want to waste money and pay for stress and discomfort.

My husband and I just moved out of this apartment early from what our lease said and I have to say it was a joke. We moved in October 2012 into a one bedroom. It was the «upgraded» room, with new appliances, counter tops, and vinyl flooring. Sure it looked nice, but that was about it. When we were looking to move in, the staff was great, and were quick to respond to any of my questions or concerns. However, once we did move in, none of our issues were ever addressed. The apartment itself was decent for the price, but it wasn’t worth the headache there. The walls are paper thin, we constantly heard stomping from the unit above us or music from the neighbors beside of us. The people around were fairly nice but there were always people outside hanging around the parking lot during late hours. I couldn’t stand the constant sirens nearby or walking outside to the flashing blue lights from COPS (which we saw almost everyday). Also, when we did move out, the staff was pretty much of no help. They were disorganized to say the least and were quick to have out leave as well (despite how kind we were). The pool there is definitely small, the hot tub doesn’t work, our mailbox door was always broken, the laundry rooms were always broken and the gym there was just plain crappy. The «car wash station» was just horrible. The tennis courts even lacked nets. I would only recommend this place if you are crunched on cash and have nothing forward to look for from apartment community. The staff that helped us move out was more concerned with her outfit than helping us. Hated this place!
