This is really odd. I have reviewed this winery several times and the owners complain and take it down. I have seen many other negative reviews get taken down as well. I am not sure why this is ok because this is about honest reviews. I have been here and I have reasonable negative feedback that should be displayed. The only positive is the area, the scenery is breathtaking. Otherwise the owner woman Julie was very rude to me and my family, and I am not sure why they receive so many positive reviews. I suspect there is something afoot with the owners padding their very below average experience. The wine is bland and does not stand out in any way in Sonoma county, I would rather go to Korbel. The stemware was spotted with soap and interfered with the wine tasting process. The food was actually better than the wine. They pushed joining their wine club and we politely declined but you could tell their was a snobby undertone. No thanks, plenty of other wineries and vineyards in the area to choose from that are leaps and bounds better. Unilocal please don’t keep removing negative reviews of this place. Not very fair for the consumer.

Not impressed. Driveway was long and uncomfortable. Wasn’t aware you needed an appointment.

Beautiful winery hidden in the country on a huge property estate. You would never know that a winery tasting room was hidden down a long dirt road. The tasting room may be by appointment only so call ahead. The décor is country chic. Very friendly staff. Great wines. I will return.

Very important to all who read, this Vineyard requires appointments in advance. We didn’t know that and drove all the way to their door. Also, they close at five, we showed up right at that time. But, being that we were leaving the country the next morning with no planned return we figured we would at least ask. Expecting to be denied we were quite pleasantly surprised when John the sales manager agreed to meet us in their tasting room. Not only did he stay an extra hour and a half to personally open and explain each wine he did so on a very long day in which he hosted members of the media for the launch of the return of their line of wines originally grown on the property. We were fortunate enough to taste wines not yet released to the public which we can’t wait to be amongst the first to bring to Canada. Everything we tasted was exceptional, we both prefer Reds however found the whites and rose to be terrific as well. While tasting two more staff came by and stayed to chat for awhile. We have all experienced long days of work, wanting nothing more than to book it out at closing time but everyone here seemed super happy to remain late, even after their long day dealing with media dignitaries, presentations, preparations, and clean up. Staff even waved to us pleasantly as we drove by. The grounds were spectacular, the Orchard meticulous, with wild animals roaming around. Getting to see a Vineyard is a terrific experience for it is only by seeing it for yourself that you can determine the love and care taken towards the creation of the product. We were also able to learn that the owner has set aside hundreds of acres of land for the conservation of natural habitat for animals, something in too rare supply with such valuable produce able to be grown. We were truly blessed to experience the first class customer service provided by John while tasting out of this world wines. The passion each person showed towards their environment was truly exceptional. We felt extremely special to have been able to be treated to a once in a lifetime experience!

WOW!!! I was in the Ledson Hotel bar Thursday night enjoying a glass of wine with my wife. We were celebrating our 30th and sparing no expense. We both are very in to our Pinots and were sharing a bottle of one of our favorites($ 150 w/our club discount… don’t want to say the name b/c we love them too!) when a guy from Windsor Oaks came in. It was hard to tell if he was there to sell wine or meet up with some old friends. Turns out, he was there to do both. He was meeting friends on their honeymoon and wanted to share his wine w/Vinnie the bartender and Mike the manager. To Mike and Vinnie’s credit, they allowed him to turn the experience into an impromptu Windsor Oaks wine tasting. He paid the corkage fees and began to sample us and two other couples in the bar as well. We were all blown away by the quality of his wines and not one of us had ever heard of Windsor Oaks b/f. Brian poured us an 08 Reserve Pinot and an 07 Reserve Cab. They were both amazing! We wanted to buy some on the spot, but he wouldn’t give us a price and said we were free to go to and make a purchase that way. That night I went to their web page and to my surprise, the Pinot was $ 35 and the Cab was $ 45! Unfortunately we did not get a chance to visit the Windsor Oaks property, but if it is even close to the way Brian described it and on par with the quality of their wine, it has to be GORGEOUS! We will be visiting on our next trip to wine country for sure!

Windsor Oaks is a gem! From the moment you walk in you feel welcome! Julie is one of the most passionate winemakers I have ever met and her husband Douglas is the vineyard manager! What a great team. Just to hear them talk about the wines and the vineyards is so fun. I have been a wine club member for a over a year now and the wines NEVER disappoint, they are soooo good! It is the most flexible wine club I am in. I love being able to order what I love most, the hardest part is deciding which wines to order! The people who work and volunteer at the events are so nice and you can tell how excited they are to be there. They are knowledgeable and proud of the wines that they pour. The pairings with the wines are fabulous and they will even share the recipes with you. The lobster bisque and the mushroom soup pair beautifully with the wines! The property is so spectacular! It encompasses three wine regions, Russian River, Chalk Hill and Sonoma Coast. I will post some pictures from a beautiful afternoon there last fall. I am a local tour guide and this is a definite favorite stop and they will be opening up more appointments for tasting in the near future. Many of my guests have signed up for their wine club. Thank you Julie, Douglas, Terry, Laura and Laura and everyone at Windsor Oaks for all of your hard work and amazing wines!

Just back from the second weekend of the annual Barrel Tasting event in and around Healdsburg, and I do not want to waste any time in sharing what a fantastic experience we(all) had a Windsor Oaks Winery. This is not our first time at Windsor Oaks, but the folks at Windsor Oaks outdid themselves this time with their warm hospitality, their flawless execution of the event itself, their skill in creating an incredible new crop of wines that we tasted in the barrels, their savvy pairing of food to compliment these wines, and their generosity in welcoming us to taste wines off the standard menu and linger with them without being in the least bit rushed. In an wine tasting event that sadly has become increasingly all about tour buses, limos, bridal parties and frat boys guzzling Coors Light in the parking lots, many wineries struggled to find the right balance of paying attention to those that were there to focus on the art of winemaking, and those that were there to party. The folks at Windsor Oaks rose above and created a memory for all in attendance. Special thanks goes to winemakerJulie Hagler Lumgair, who climbed atop a second tier barrel, and from above, shared a taste of yet another wine«off the list»…her passion, expertise, warmth, and generosity were infectous… Don’t waste another minute… go to Windsor Oaks… or log on, buy their wine, and see for yourself… a rare find indeed!

I do not rate very many wines or wineries this high but I’ll make the exception here. Well lets start with what got me here. The Chalk Hill Appellation has produced several good wines and I like several different wines from this area. Reds tend to do very good here– to excellent. I buy futures or try to get deals when I can and this place is reasonable for what you are getting and they remember you(well me anyway). I am a returning frequent wine taster. I was there for barrel tasting last weekend and Julie(the winemaker) showed her passion for her wines. She will share all kinds of wines with you and tries to learn what her customers enjoy. She is not afraid to experiment and put extra effort and care into those red wines. The Mountain Cuvee(slightly lighter red) should turn out surprisingly good along with one of my favorites the Super Tuscan Blend. The Tuscan is probably their Flagship. I couldn’t resist the offer on the most pricey bottle the two barrel Cabernet. I couldn’t afford much more but hey you only live once. The winery is nice. You are never rushed out(My last stop)! They served lobster bisque this year. — — -and lots of wines to sample. NOT Pretentious here like some big wineries in Napa– Thanks to Doug and Julie I will be returning. The experience is worth 5 stars– your treated like friends and family. I left smiling with my futures in hand. Bravo!

It was my partner’s first time to wine country, so I was looking for a place that would provide a one-stop-shop in terms of tastings and tours, and we completely lucked out with Windsor Oaks. Since it has(thankfully) remained off the radar and out of the guidebooks, I’m not quite sure how I came across it, but I’m so happy I did. I worked with Laura P. to coordinate our extensive winemaking tour, tour of the vineyards, private lunch, and tasting. At the last minute, I decided that I wanted to propose during our lunch, and Laura was helpful with suggestions and providing me with the perfect spot to do so. Our experience was fantastic! After about a 45 minute talk and hands-on winemaking tour with winemaker Julie, we set out with Laura to tour the vineyards in their pickup truck. She was very knowledgeable, friendly, and stopped frequently to let us look at the different varietals of grapes, and generally explore the gorgeous and spacious grounds. She then dropped us off for a 20min walk to our lunch spot(under Lover’s Oak), where we had a private tasting and catered lunch(and a successful proposal). Plus, the wines were fantastic and we each bought several bottles. The entire 3-hour experience was above and beyond what I ever could have imagined, and incredibly reasonable($ 75 each for tour, tasting, and lunch). Julie and Laura were pleasures to get to know, and with fantastic wine to back everything up, we were incredibly pleased. I would definitely go back again and Windsor Oaks will soon become my first wine club.

This place is not only beautiful but so delightfully delicious as well! I have been to this vineyard 3times, and plan to come back as soon as I can. They are, in every sense of the word, wonderful! More friendly than you can imagine, and so very helpful as well! Their wine… ahhhh… impressive! Not super expensive, but certainly not cheap… however worth more than what you will pay for any bottle you buy here. They have good prices, and your taste buds will love you for it. I have done many tastings here and my biggest problem I’m faced with is which bottles to limit myself to. They are family friendly during their special events. The ambiance, the taste, the friendly staff, the wine-maker, the property itself, and the knowledge you will get from visiting here will blow you away!

We are members at Windsor Oaks winery and every time we go we have a great time. Quite often we ask friends to join us when we go, quite often they join the wine club too;) We are always impressed with the wines and love the variety they have. Julie is a great winemaker with a passion for wines, together with her husband Doug, they make a great team. I am not sure what to say as to the prices, we always feel that the quality of the wines justify their prices. Thus we feel that they are moderately prices, especially when you compare them with other wines of that quality. They are open for the public about 10 weekend every year, check out the website when they are, it’s worth your trip!

Let me start out by saying Windsor Oaks has absolutely wonderful wine! I first visited this winery at the Barrel Tasting event in 2008, purchased futures and soon became a club member. I just visited today for Barrel Tasting and from the barrels to the finished wine everything I tasted was wonderful! The barrel wines while not finished are amazing! Between the barrels and finished wines, there is a very nice Rose of Pinot Noir, great Pinots, Zins, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and the Super Tuscan. To top off the great wine, the staff there are extremely friendly and organized. Julie the Winemaker mingles with the winetasters and clearly loves what she does, enjoys talking with the visitors and knows what she’s doing. All in all this winery is worth a visit! Enjoy!

I was looking for a place to take my girlfriend for her birthday and this place was wonderful. We had a private tour of the Vineyard, followed by lunch and a private tasting on top of a hill overlooking the vineyard. Not only was the wine fantastic, so were the people that worked there. they helped make this one of the highlight of our trip. I highly recommend the tour and we hope to go back again someday.

Take the fabulous tour and tasting of this really great property. Sit in the back(if you want) of their pickup truck and learn about the wines and property. You’ll need an appointment to visit so plan ahead. Cost $ 50 pp for customized tour and tasting on the hilltop Also, consider ordering the gourmet boxed lunch for $ 20 more for the most memorable picnic ever.

Don’t be discouraged by the long, unpaved road to Windsor Oaks. As long as the ground is somewhat dry, it will be worth the very bumpy ride to visit here. I came here recently for barrel tasting. It was just after 11 am and the place was already packed! I can see why; I really enjoyed their Pinot Gris, and they have a nice Rose, too. You don’t see so much Rose these days, since most folks got scared off after the White Zinfandel craze. Anyway, this one was much better than any White Zin!

This GEM is not to be missed! It is out of the way, but the best things always are! The beauty of the Vineyards is astounding, but when you get your first taste of their award winning wines, you are hooked! The Estate Reserve Zinfandel, 5 stars, Estate Pinot Noir, 5 stars!, They make a killer Malbec, 5 stars.(futures) we tasted from the barrel For those of you who like me, like the less known, but wonderful fruity, Red wine which is generally an Argentinian Table Wine. We didn’t taste a single thing from bottle or barrel that we didn’t do back flips over. What is even a bigger bonus, is that the husband and wife team at this winery are so very nice! If you see that sign, be sure to go out of your way as we did, it is well worth it!
