Mac and Lil make great wine. Each vintage has a story to tell and Mac is the storyteller! I enjoyed seeing them in Eureka and I am looking forward to sipping the bottles I bought. Gary’s Vineyard Pinot Noir is my favorite.

Great wine with a vintner who has history to share. Vision Cellars is a boutique winery featuring Pinot Noir. Know that as you enjoy your first, it won’t be your last glass of Vision Cellars wine. Sipping with Mac, is where it’s at!

A group from work planned a winery trip to Sonoma. I’ve been in California for a while now, but this would be my first winery trip. Sure, I’ve had my fair share of wine and on the many trips to Ad Hoc, I’ve passed by numerous wineries, but I’ve only seen the tasting rooms from a distance. So you can imagine my excitement to learn that I would be going on trip to 2 wineries in Sonoma and not only would I be tasting the wines, I would be meeting the owners and the wine makers and taking a tour of the facility. After 1.5 hours of driving, we arrive at Vision Cellars. Down this winding road we go. Small country road where large parts had eroded. We turn into a driveway through a farm gate and park in front of a barn. To the left is a house. To the right is another barn and a newer living quarters. Behind all of that are rows of vines. Um, where’s the paved road leading to the fountain in front of a lavish tasting room? Not here. No sir. We are greeted by Lil. Brought over to a patio table outside under a huge shady oak tree. Wine glasses are presented with bottles of wine to follow. The first glass poured was a white wine. Similar to Riesling. It was great. Proved to be my favorite out of all the others that were poured. But don’t get me wrong, the other two Pinot Noir’s that were poured were great. Everything that you’d want to taste in a good Pinot. The best part of this whole experience was just sitting around this table with lovers of the industry, chatting under that shaded oak tree on a cool Sonoma morning. The owner and wine maker, Mac has an amazing story and he tells it well. Growing up in Texas, he was the son of a moonshine maker. After tasting his first bottle of fine Italian wine at the age of 12, he vowed to become a wine maker. And that’s exactly what he did. He became a great one. I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience with California wine tasting. Thanks Mac and Lil for a wonderful time.
