King’s Kastle

There is a photo on their page here on Unilocal that shows a dog with what looks like blue tape around its muzzle. It’s not one of the photos here that I’m allowed to rate as helpful or not. And for some reason, although ive posted photos before, I don’t have that option here to post the screenshot of that picture…(odd!)

I have such respect for the Greyhounds Friends for Life Rescue group a Kings Kastle! The staff are friendly, and very supportive to new Greyhound owners, like myself. Thanks to them we have been able to add two loving Greyhounds to our family.

Our dog Jackson would never be happy in a Kennel type situation so he is boarded at Kings Kastle when we go away or for some day care/​socialization. Since we live in Cloverdale he doesn’t get to socialize as often as he would like. Always happy when he arrives and seems to enjoy his vacation there.

I love the staff at Kings Kastle! They truly care about the pets they take care of and are extremely well trained.
I wouldn’t trust anyone else with our babies.

I should have written this review a long time ago… I had a VERY bad experience with Kings Castle a few years ago & tried to work out my issue with the board of directors but, although they spoke to me on the phone, never got back to me about what was done after the board meeting (as they promised).
I took my dog, who had been violently attacking my other dog, Molly, to Kings Kastle because they assured me they could rehabilitate her. I was at my wits end because I had taken my dog to trainers, behaviorists & even put the dog on an anti-​seizure med as a last ditch effort because my vet was recommending me to have the dog put down. 95% of the time she was a sweet dog. I took Molly there several times a week & even left her there for over a week when I went on vacation. Once we had another attack, I had to make the heartbreaking decision to give her to Greendog rescue or put her down.
I met with Colleen in the front office bawling my eyes out because I was heartbroken & didn’t know what to do. She assured me they would evaluate my dog & if she could be rehabilitated she would, otherwise they would put her down. It was the best chance my dog had so I trusted them.
A few weeks later I saw my dog on Greendog Rescues Adoption page stating that «due to human neglect» this dog had issues because it had «never been socialized» or trained… and that they were sure with the proper home she would become a great pet. They did not mention that the owner (me) did train it and the dog was indeed being socialized AT THEIR FACILITY!!! In other words… they lied to get this dog a home!
Don’t get me wrong… I wanted Molly to find a home but I needed to know my dog was safe & wouldn’t attack a person or a CHILD. I thought it was irresponsible to let someone take Molly home not knowing her history. Instead of going public with this, I gave them a chance to explain themselves & discuss this with me personally… it took several phone calls. Colleen NEVER spoke to me. I had to notify the board of directors & as far as I know that never went anywhere.
The reason I am writing this review now is because a friend of mine just told me today her dog was bitten above the eye at Kings Kastle day care… and the staff there tried to glue the cut back together themselves!!! My friend took her dog to the vet & they said if they accidentally got glue in his eye, it might have blinded him. The dog needed stitches. I doubt Kings Kastle will offer any kind of financial assistance.
Maybe these people mean well, but they have no boundaries & they are not honest. Beware… they are very charming & will act like they know everything but they are practicing beyond their scope…

I wanted to like this place. However, BOTH my dogs have come away with bites. The first time cost 600.00 and nope, they don’t help with that. They even suggested my other dog was the offender… because they play together a lot. Funny, has never happened at home. Stupidly, I stuck with it, but after my second dog was bit (in 2 places same day) I’m done. It is not unusual for them to have 100+ dogs together in a day. There is not enough supervision clearly. Please DO NOT take your pet there, they may be tired at the end of the day but they are not safe.

I waited a few months to write a review to see how I felt about Kings Kastle. After 2 months I can say I am very very impressed. My corgi mix, Butters, was completely fearful of men, other dogs and had some fear aggression. I had previously taken him and his brother, Mr Winks, to a different daycare and Butters was terrified to even get out of the car. I don’t know what went on there, but my once happy dog became fearful and aggressive.
I called Kings Kastle after reading some reviews and knew we needed to get this under control. I spoke to Amber who was very knowledgeable and had a plan to get my sweet boy back. On the first day, she took them for their evaluation, as I figured Mr Winks could learn a thing or two as well. We were able to watch them through a one way mirror, and I was really surprised to see my fearful dog was actually playing among big dogs, small dogs, various breeds! However I could tell he was terrified of the men working there, which was one of his issues.
I have been taking them 2x a week, to Kings Kastle and I can honestly say, that the change in just 2 months has been amazing. They are no longer barking at men, or anyone for that matter. Butters still has anxiety around them but it’s not as bad as it used to be, which is nice. He doesn’t cower in the back of my car when we pull up to Kings Kastle, like he did the other place. He’s happy when I pick them up, heck both of them are! We even got my dads dog to come to Kings Kastle to get help with her fear aggression as well. They also have kennel free boarding, which is awesome for people who don’t like their dogs kennel! My dogs will be staying if we ever go on any overnight trips.
The pack mentality is something I have never seen before at a doggie daycare, and I will never take them anywhere else as long as I live here. The entire staff is remarkably knowledgeable, kind and help in any way they can regardless of the issue, dog or person. I appreciate the care they provide for my boys, and know they are in safe hands!

We have a Bull Terrier mix pup (Stella) who is a little over a year now. We have been taking her to Kings Kastle since she was 6 months old. She had a LOT to learn about dog manners and KK definitely helped us with that! She has a ton of energy so this place is perfect for her. After a day at KK, she literally walks in the door, goes to her bed, and sleeps for the rest of the night. I know how much energy she has, and I know she can be a little brat but she picks her playmates. Sure she has come home with bumps and scratches, but to us we know our dog, she plays a lot. And frankly… shes a dog who plays with other dogs! Kings Kastle has been a savior for us and Stella. If not for them, we might go a little crazy trying to wear down our dogs energy. In reading the other posts, sure Kings Kastle may not be for everyone, or every dog. For us and Stella, this place is awesome…

Do NOT use King’s Kastle in Windsor, CA for boarding! We had our two very social and affectionate dogs stay there while we were on vacation and when we picked them up they were traumatized! Neither dog knew what to do when they walked out to us, they were clearly scared… whereas every other kennel we’ve taken them to they were always so excited to see us. Part of the trauma was they were not cared for, BOTH dogs had wounds on their faces. One had two scratches under his eye, and the other had a perfectly round wound on his nose… we are suspicious that it’s a cigarette burn. They also now have fearful behaviors that they didn’t have before going there. If that’s not enough, the one dog has medical needs and has to take several pills each day, I had it all portioned out in to respective pill boxes and clearly marked, there shouldn’t have been any doses left when we picked them up and one of his pills had several days left!!! Lastly, the day we picked them up they wouldn’t allow us to go back with them to get the dogs because they said they had 100 dogs there at that point… how can you adequately care for 100 dogs in a free kennel environment? It’s really sad, I’ve never had a bad experience with a kennel, but this one just breaks my heart… I can’t imagine what they did to my dogs, but they will never see them again!!!

This place is a wonderful place for day care or long term stay for your dog or DOGS. Its kennel free all the dogs play together. There is someone supervising them 24 hours. My dogs are so happy after their stay.
