Employees regularly decide to close the store up to an hour early — there is no way to predict whether they are open or not after dinner. Many times I have arrived with orders from my family and knocked at the door, only to find the employee has just locked the door and is cleaning up, even though it is still 30 or even 45 minutes prior to closing. No way to run a business.

Cups and Cones is my go-to summer refreshment joint. Nothing beats their Richardson’s Ice Cream and Richie’s Slush on a hot humid day. There isn’t much seating inside but there are some benches to sit on across the street by the pond and some more benches by the Starbucks. I recommend the vanilla ice cream with the strawberry sauce and the watermelon slush.

The ice cream is delicious and it’s a cute place, but one evening I was here the(one) person working behind the counter was wrapping up stuff about 30 minutes prior to closing time. That’s much too early to be doing that. Second the other poster regarding the paucity of tables(2 or 4?) and the sticky floor.

Cups and Cones serves fantastic Richardson’s ice cream, but the prices are steep(over $ 3 for a kiddie size cone or cup) and the housekeeping at the store leaves a lot to be desired(eternally sticky floor). I also wish the store staff would clean up the outside seating area across the street that is clearly used by their customers based on the cups, spoons and napkins on the ground and in the bushes.

Outstanding service and huge portions make this place better than average. It helps that Richardson’s is among my favorite ice creams! Note that it’s cash only here. Small shop with only a couple of tables, so it’s better to walk around town in nicer weather with your ice cream.
