Hill Country Wine Shoppe

We did the tasting and left there with 6 bottles. The ladies were very knowledgeable and helped us find what we like. I must say, I really enjoyed the Choco Noir. Pinot Noir and chocolate… amazing. Need I say, I enjoyed my Sunday morning coffee/​hot chocolate. Thanks ladies. Loved the experience!!!

Stopped in with my family while on vacation. Great wines and good conversation with the man working at the time. It’s worth your time to stop by!

Disappointed. Not greeted when entering and helped the person who came in after my girlfriend and I. I can’t rank the wine because I was never served any.
No southern charm in this swanky.

Had an amazing experience today at the Wine Shoppe. The wines are fantastic and the customer service is amazing. The two short hair blonde ladies go above and beyond for customer service. I learned a ton about Texas wines and how they are made.

I was not impressed at all by the wine tasting here. I would recommend this place for the wine merchandise over the wine tasting/​wines. (I purchased a candle). It is a very small place with a bar that has no seating. They hand you a menu with with 3 lists of wine (Red, White &Sweet) and tell you to pick one and they go down the list and give you a sample of each one off the list you chose. There was only 1 gentleman working at the time we myself and 2 friends went and he was too busy to even acknowledge us. We waited while he finished up with other customers then started the tasting. The man told us what we were drinking, which we read from the list, but other than that, seemed to have no other wine knowledge. A few times he told us about the wine maker who was featured in a magazine, or gave us facts about the prizes a wine had won, but no true wine knowledge about what we were drinking. I had to even ask for water to rinse my glass between tastings. He was just pouring wine after wine in my friends’ glasses, even a white after a red! This was the strangest wine tasting I have ever done and to be honest, not something I would ever pay for. We had a gift certificate for a free tasting.
Bottom line, if you know anything about wine, I don’t recommend it. If not, and you’re just looking for a casual experience with a little wine involved, go for it.

We regularly go wine tasting here. They only stock wines from Texas wineries that make batches too small to distribute to stores, plus one red and one white wine from Italy for the Italian restaurant goers across the street. It’s like visiting half a dozen wineries in one stop. The wine lists change minimally throughout the year, though, and sometimes they can’t get a particular winery’s top products (ex. Sistercreek won’t sell them their best blends). Wine tasting is $ 7 per wine list (red, white or sweet), and each list includes ~8 wines. Purchase 3 bottles and the tasting is free. Purchase 6 bottles and 1 tasting is free + 10% off. My husband and I usually taste both the red and white lists and walk away with 3 – 4 bottles of wine. Each bottle is only a few dollars more than if bought at the wineries. If you want to taste more than 1 – 2 types of wine, please be respectful and purchase a wine tasting. They get a lot of foot traffic and can’t give all their wine away.

I have shopped and bought wine and unique merchandise from this wonderful shop since they have come into existence in Wimberley! I love the uniqueness and always friendly atmosphere along with the merchandise. Thank you Wine Shoppe Gals for your refreshing style! I will be back in soon!,

Stopped by, last night. The woman I was with asked for a sample of the Christmas Wine and was given a plastic goblet that held about an ounce, or more, of wine. She ended up buying a bottle. I asked about the blueberry wine and was asked if I’d like a sample. I was given an ultra-​mini, paper soufflé cup to drink from. I then asked for a sample of the mead. Again, I got a mini-​cup and, inexplicably, an extremely rude, «That’s the last sample I can give you» from the owner. Keep in mind that my friend got a sample, in a plastic goblet, that was five times the amount I received in the paper mini-​cup. She also bought a friggin’ bottle of wine. There was no excuse, ZERO, for the owner’s rude way of treating me. As I sipped the mead, groups of women came in and the owner was all over herself to serve them and strike up animated conversation. I was amazed and angry. Maybe there’s more, here, than meets the eye, but that’s not the point. I should have been treated as well as the women customers. I certainly wasn’t. I will never go back to this place. You can count on that. The reason I gave the two stars: The owner was extremely knowledgeable about wines. She did give me good information about sulfite content of the sweeter wines, comparing sulfite addition in wine to oatmeal addition in meatloaf. Mitigating factor?: She did tell my friend that her store had been flooded by a broken refrigerator while she was visiting her husband in another state. She struggled to reopen her store once she got back to town, just a day ago. Even so, her rude behavior cannot be excused. FWIW, my friend told me that if this woman had responded to me, in the manner she did, before she, my friend, had purchased the bottle of Christmas Wine, she would not have completed the purchase.
