It’s a Great day care, really good teachers but sadly no one could afford it if they aren’t wealthy. It’s way too expensive for average working people. It’s a shame.

My oldest son has been here since he was eight weeks old and he is now five years; he’s gone through infant, wobbler, toddler, transition, preschool, and now pre-kindergarten. My youngest is now in the transition room. The staff I have dealt with have ranged from good to excellent, and are very good at diverting, entertaining, redirecting, and teaching the kids. We are spoiled and I know it: they care about these kids, as well as caring for them, and to see how my children benefit from having caring adults in their lives throughout the day is wonderful. My two boys have very different personalities and ways of interacting with people, and they have been dealt with as individuals, their strengths and weaknesses both, as have other kids(in the interactions I have seen). Each room has a range of age-appropriate toys and activities, and other than infants/wobblers, each gets some time in the gym each day(there’s a big indoor room, and an outdoor space with playground equipment when weather permits). The toys in the gym are great for all the ages at the center. When my oldest son was on a limited diet, they were great about adhering to that — in the infant room he got only what we sent in at first, then at one year he switched to their foods as the restrictions were dropped to just nuts(which aren’t allowed in the center anyway). The meals they get are definitely kid-friendly and therefore not perfectly ideal(although frankly, they’re better than some of what I serve at home!). There is usually, over the course of both snacks and lunch, an appropriate balance of the food groups, and I would say the food is good nutritionally overall. I don’t know if they are fresh-made or from packaged; my guess would be packaged, given the likely logistics of on-site preparing everything fresh. They were very accommodating of us cloth diapering — and once out of infants/wobblers, they work on potty training if appropriate(in toddlers, if the kid is leading it; in transition they encourage it gently — my son was pleased, not upset, so I’m guessing they handled it well for him). The younger kids also get to go for outside«walks»(rides in a buggy, for most of the younger ones, though I pre-K gets to go on actual walks to the library and such) when the weather is good, so they get some air and some exposure to the rest of the world, which I think is a bonus. When there have been behavior challenges, they have also been really good about communicating with me so we could come to a common approach on helping the kid in question learn better behavior in that regard. I’m so grateful for the YMCA, and for all the amazing people who work at this center. They have been really good for my boys’ learning and development, as well as «just» taking care of them.(If you’ve ever taken care of small kids, you know why I put quotes on «just»!)
