Specialties
Calico. Where everyone is a «local». Delicious food and excellent service since 1967. Chef Cody Allen creates really tasty menu items from locally sourced products and our own summer gardens. Much of the food is cooked in our fruitwood burning oven. Summer outside deck dining overlooking our 1 ½ acres lawn and play area is very popular as is our «Bar» menu. Whether it is a hand tossed pizza, a great steak or really good salads, the Calico will be a favorite dinner stop for you and your family.
History
Established in 1966.
Calico, built in 1905, was originally erected as a church serving the Mormon homestead community that settled and thrived along Mormon Row just north of the town of Jackson. Sixty-one years later, two partners purchased and moved the then abandoned church to Teton Village Road, naming it Calico Pizza after a California ghost town. Changing ownership in 1995, proprietor Jeff Davies rebuilt and remodeled the old building while preserving the original church structure. Jeff and co-owner David Yoder remodeled the interior and added a wood burning stove in 2013 — thus creating today’s Calico Restaurant and Bar. Thanks to their foresight, Calico remains an important part of Jackson Hole history.
The name Jackson Hole is credited to early surveyor Davy Jackson. Valleys ringed by high mountains were often called «holes». Jackson Hole was originally called, «Jackson’s Hole». The towns of Jackson, Teton Village, Wilson and Kelly are all located in Jackson Hole.
