Weinstein – Piser Funeral Home

I just left a one hour funeral here. Very large group. Must have been over 200 guests. Looks like they connected 2 or 3 rooms.
The microphone stopped working. Unbelievable. The family’s heartfelt comments were not being heard. I was so upset I got up in the middle and walked out to find someone. A woman standing outside the room said they knew and were sending someone in to fix it. No one came in. Almost an hour of the family talking and only the front rows could hear. At their most tender moments the words of tribute to the deceased were not heard.
The single most disrespectful thing I have ever seen at a funeral. Just horrible. Horrible. I would refuse to pay them, I would never use them and Weinstein should give a huge donation to the family’s charity. And then they should close!

$ 12,000 for the most basic service at the gravesite. The most basic service.
How did this become a profit making industry? TWELVE THOUSAND Dollars.
THat is $ 12,000 less in the college fund. That is the price of a car .
Think about this.
I will find some alternative when I die. Shop around. When some one dies you are just so upset, it is difficult to think clearly

It’s not every day that one gets to review a funeral home. I would imagine under most circumstances you would be too grief-​stricken to notice the service and surroundings at such an occasion
However, since the deceased was an uncle-​in law who had many good qualities but was a bit of a boor, I was able to take in the lovely, comforting touches available at this Jewish funeral home in (where else?) Skokie.
The main lobby has stained glass panels of the 12 tribes of Israel, and lots of those free calendars that they print to keep death on our minds all year long. The room where the funeral service was held was a little chilly (perhaps to keep the guest of honor from decomposing too much?) but otherwise very nice, with soft lighting and comfortable seats. Off to one side is a family lounge with sofas, a place to hang coats, restrooms and a hotel-​like bar with coffee, tea and small wrapped snacks. Oh, and little packets of tissues, which were kind of rough and scratchy.
The staff were of course very deferential and polite, and ably steered us out of the parking lot with those little «funeral» flags on to follow the hearse to the cemetery. I never rode in one of those processionals before. It was kind of fun to blow through the red lights.
