Thank you, Jessica, but we did mention it 2 times to the hostess who sat us and she stated«most of our tables are full» and I stated«with people who had reservations like us?» I then pointed out a lot of tables that were not occupied. She sat us in the cirner anyway. The piano player stopped just before noon and other music was put on. I wish things were different but everyone dud not appear to be on the same page at your restaurant.

Dined at Opus 9 for Father’s Day brunch and have to say everything was perfect. Food piping hot and delicious, attentive service, and good value. Not much of a review person but came to Unilocal after dining here for the first time and felt like an honest assessment was warranted after reading the most recent review from a morning bourbon enthusiast who doesn’t understand musicians do take breaks, or the difference between music coming from a player piano and the radio. Go to Opus 9, you’ll have as much fun as you deserve to.

Me and my wife went to this establishment for her birthday… We have been there numerous times separately and together but this is the first time I am actually writing a review. Everything was five star from the hostess down to walking out the door. I am a big man and the 16 ounce ribeye with a side of potatoes and Mac and cheese was more than I could handle. The food was cooked to perfection!

I am a meat and potatoes guy… I’m reasonably certain that it is rooted somewhere in my DNA… so needless to say, I always have my radar up for a good steakhouse. I passed several good steakhouses on my way to Opus 9(literally and metaphorically), my #1 go-to steakhouse in VA. Opus 9 is the sister restaurant to a local RVA steak staple, Hondo’s, so I stumbled upon Opus 9 almost by accident. That said, so glad that I did as Opus 9 is now a staple in our birthday/anniversary/romantic night away rotation. The wine list is extensive, and runs the gamut of less expensive bottles that you can have a few of over a nice long dinner and not bat an eye, to several that you may need a Black AmEx to partake of. Haven’t had the pleasure of much on that end of the spectrum, but I can say that several of the reds in the midrange are quite tasty. The highlight of the appetizer is the Jumbo Lump Crabcakes, a virtual miracle of modern science as to how they hold that much pure crab meat together with what looks like not much more than a little mustard seed. Sweet, light, and delicious. They are served with field greens and roasted red pepper aioli and are divine. In terms of entrees, I have flirted several times with the Oscar 9(a.k.a. Steak Oscar; Filet Mignon, served on a grilled Portabella Mushroom with lump crabmeat, asparagus, and béarnaise), but I keep coming back to the old stand-by: the 8 oz Filet Mignon, straight up, medium rare, served on a sizzling plate of drawn butter. Lean, buttery and tender, this steak is consistently top notch and among the best that I’ve ever had. The steak knife that they provide is almost optional, as the steak can almost be cut with a fork. For sides, I recommend the Red Bliss Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Three Cheese Macaroni & Cheese and the Creamed Corn Au Gratin. Both are tasty, and I recommend getting all and sharing. Be sure to save room for dessert, as both the Chocolate Concerto(molten chocolate cake with caramel sauce & vanilla ice cream) and Bananas Foster Cheesecake(New York style cheesecake with bananas foster sauce, flambeed tableside) are extraordinary!!! Top to bottom, Opus 9 is delicious with outstanding service and ambiance. A+

Above average price, average food, and below average server. Don’t waist your money. I have had better steaks at chain steak houses for a third the price. Wife and I wanted a special evening for our anniversary. Made reservations and requested a quiet table– they sat us in a booth next to the kitchen. It seems the golden oldies love the place but the rest of us should pass. $ 200 without drinks and before tip– no thanks!!!

We enjoyed the Opus9 Sunday brunch. It was an outstanding experience. They had a good mix of breakfast and lunch items and an omelet chef right at the front door. The service was also very good. A reservation is a must. Good food, good service, good price!

It was the full steakhouse experience and more. Food, décor and service rivaled any other place I have been to. From the greeting in to the greeting back out it was a perfect experience. Janesse, our server was knowledgeable and professional. The only strange thing was the flashlight, but I will let you discover that for yourselves, it was very practical. Martini shaken at the table and the squeezed butter are all nice touches to the experience. The rare here really is rare so keep that in mind. This is not Outback and is not priced like Outback. This is not food, it is a meal with presentation.

We had a truly 5 star experience at Opus 9. Our server, Dylan, was so attentive and courteous. He continually made sure we had enough bread, water, and that we were content with everything. We had the calamari and although we have had better, it was very light and tasty. My husband and I split the Cowboy Steak and it was done to perfection, no seasoning was needed. It came with seasonal vegetables that were sautéed in sherry and garlic, heavenly. We also shared the Three Cheese Macaroni and Cheese, you must order it(but share). Our table was in ear shot of the kitchen so when we return(and we plan to) we will ask for a table in the Beethoven or Mozart rooms.

Visited Opus 9 with a party of eight to celebrate a family member’s Law School graduation. I truly felt that everything was exceptional; from the décor, to the staff, to the the great food. While I have read some complaints regarding pricing, my father once told me that«you get what you paid for» and I thought the quality of food was excellent. Don’t know if I will ever be back in bucolic Williamsburg, but will make a point to return to Opus 9 for dinner if I am.

We came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday during our trip to Williamsburg. The food was fantastic — he got the filet & lobster tail and I got the filet. We both got mashed potatoes for our side, and then shared the cream of corn side. It was an expensive meal, but the food was worth it for us. The service was a bit slow(we were there for 1.5 hours), and it wasn’t terribly busy … but we weren’t in a rush, so it wasn’t a huge bother. The other off-putting thing was when they asked us to cut into the middle of our steaks to check the temperature. We have been to a lot of higher end steakhouses and have never been asked to do this. Overall great experience and we definitely would come back.

Went here for dinner over Easter weekend. As soon as we were seated, our waiter, Dylan, was very attentive and very pleasant. We ordered the porterhouse steak, cooked medium rare and it came out lovely. We ordered the caramelized onions and mushrooms demi-glaze which was thick and savory and a great accompaniment. The only thing that we didn’t really enjoy was the side of broccoli which was steamed to the point of being overcooked and the mound of butter that was slathered on was too excessive. All in all, a good place to go to celebrate a holiday or special occasion.

So I was raised in a family that loved steak and the steakhouse experience. Initially I was impressed by the décor, the staff’s professionalism, and the wine list, but that quickly declined when I tasted my steak(which was undercooked and had to be sent back– my idea of medium means heat needs to be applied). The steak literally had no taste. I’m not sure how one does this? And no, I wasn’t sick that night and other things tasted just fine. It didn’t taste of seasons, char, nor salt. Perhaps you are paying such prices for the ambiance, but lets be honest, this is Williamsburg, not Orange County. The food is the most important thing. Needless to say I will not be going back.

A five star review requires numerous facets of your dining experience coming together to make a great evening. Our five star dinner last evening began with a very polite and professional server, Dillon. He knew his menu and his wine and was always attentive to our needs. Martinis shaken at the table were ice cold and delicious. The food was excellent with sizzling steaks and crisp cold salads. The wine by the glass selection was priced fairly and quite good. They offer flights of wine so you can taste what you like. And they pour a generous 8 oz. glass of wine. The manager, Simone, came to our table to insure everything was to our satisfaction. I rarely deliver a five star review but Opus9 deserved it last night. Thank you Dillon

Opus 9 oh how I love your steak, when I’m in the mood for a true steak house! White table cloths, wait staff with a flourish, dim lighting galore. It’s that kind of place, and guess what, it’s…GASP…expensive. So please don’t give this place fewer stars because it’s that, you can preview the menu online so you don’t end up with sticker shock. Opus 9 is a date night, anniversary, rekindle the romance, take your mom/dad/college kid out to celebrate kind of place. It’s not the Outback. We don’t have too many babysitter nights, and we took advantage of one of them to enjoy Opus 9. I started my meal with the Hearts of Iceberg salad, as close to a traditional Wedge as I could get, that’s what I prefer with my steak, and yum, it was cold and crisp and what I was looking for. For entrees, the hubs ordered the twin Lump Crab Cakes, he doesn’t care for steak. He said they were very good, but he prefers the crab cakes at Dudleys when they are featuring them. I had a Petite Filet with a baked potato. My steak was served exactly as I requested it. Our server was very attentive, he took care of us without being intrusive and had quite the flourish. I think he might have broken out in song at one point. For lunch I’ve enjoyed the chicken tacos, the burgers are amazing, and the club sandwich is YUMMY! Opus 9 is very, very good, but I don’t think it’s one of the best in Williamsburg, I think Prime46 Forty and Dudleys both give Opus a run for their money. Still, I would definitely return. It’s especially nice for a date night. Opus 9 also has a $ 10 lunch menu that is VERY popular with locals M-F so get there at 1130. I’ve heard their brunch is fantastic too, if you want to take out that special someone. Happy hour is also fantastic!

Where do I begin. Bar none the BEST place I have dined in a while. Our server Michael was amazingly attentive but not over attentive. Had great recommendations for us and really explained the menu well. My Opus 9 filet was cooked to perfection and the flavor a where amazing. Everything comes together in such harmony but also stands alone with such flavor. My husband had the Rib Eye and I had a bite and it was perfectly seared and seasoned. We had ordered the Tiramisu to go and couldn’t be happier. Thank you Opus 9 for a dinner we will talk about to our friends and family till our next visit.

I took my son to Opus 9 because he made good grades. We were also celebrating my birthday. My son and I ordered filets. We both ordered them medium rare. Mine came bloody — my son’s came rare. Needless to say, we sent them back. When they came back, the grease splattering on the plate sprayed all over my $ 70 dress shirt. To make it worse, the filets were overcooked and dry. Opus 9 is overrated. The steaks at Texas Roadhouse are far better… and for half the price. I guess you can say we were quite disappointed in paying $ 100 for overcooked filets – I would think the cooks would be «spot-on» when charging this much for a steak. I also didn’t appreciate my shirt being ruined Will have a hard time going back… will stick with Texas Roadhouse and Longhorns where they know how to cook a steak.

Their all you can eat brunch is amazing. They have a made to order omelet station, the best waffles and syrup I’ve had and many many other brunch options. The buffet was $ 25.95 but well worth it! I know where I am taking my mom for brunch this year for her birthday! Today, I went for lunch and the list ch service was just as nice. They have a menu with ten items that are $ 10 in addition to their regular lunch menu. I had the Pulled Pork BBQ sandwich with fries from the $ 10 menu. The portion was definitely filling. The remainder of my party was impressed with their meals also.

Food was excellent. Drinks are expensive. Food was pricey as well but worth it. The atmosphere is cozy. Wait staff was very friendly. Cook & manager visited our table to make sure food & everything was up to par. Nice date restaurant, we just happened to come on Monday which is Ladies Night.

My family came to Opus 9 to celebrate my college graduation, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled with the ambiance, food, and service we received. The restaurant’s atmosphere is warm and relaxing. There are several private dining rooms that break up the restaurant. Our server James was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the menu to our party and made sure we each found an entrée that was exactly what we wanted. The entire staff was excellent and the manager took time to come to our table and ensure that we were enjoying our meals. The menu is rather pricey, but you can be at ease knowing the meal and dining experience will be well worth it! To start, I had the french onion soup. It was cheesy, delicious, and not heavily salted. I ordered the cold water lobster tail and 8 oz filet mignon dinner. It was absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and the cut of meat was fantastic. The lobster tail was much bigger than I was expecting and was extremely fresh. For dessert I had the tiramisu, and you could tell the whipped cream was handmade. Going to Opus 9 was the perfect way to celebrate and if in town we will definitely be back. If you are going to be in Williamsburg you must try Opus 9! You will not be disappointed.
