Not sure of the food because we never were seated. Sat at the bar for over an 1 ½ hours while we watched empty tables sit. Questioned the hosts why she couldn’t sit us at the empty tables, but we’re told they were reserved. However, before we came we called ahead to request a reservation and were told they don’t take reservations. Odd. Hostess was rude and unapologetic. Decided to leave and go next door to eat.

We stopped for lunch at oceans and ale before shopping at the outlets and had a very good dining experience. I had a cheeseburger and my girlfriend had a small fillet. My cheeseburger was cooked a perfect medium and it was delicious. My side of green beans was very generous and cooked perfectly. My girlfriends fillet was very tender and cooked a perfect medium rare. Her sides of asparagus and green beans were also very generous and cooked perfectly also. Our waitress Tina was very friendly, helpful and attentive. We will definitely be back!

My family and I decided to try this local spot based off reviews we found here on Unilocal.Oceans and Ale was clean and our wait to get a seat was shorter than quoted so that was nice. We started with the white chicken chili nachos, they taste great and a half order was enough for our family of four. I had the crab cake dinner with asparagus and seafood mac and cheese for my side. I must say I was not disappointed. Other items ordered at my table were the seafood pot pie which my husband thought taste good but lacked visual appeal. Crab tacos were great and the cheesesteak was good as well. Strawberry shortcake skillet was a great choice for dessert. Unfortunately the service was slow and my husband’s drink was never refilled nor were we ever asked if we wanted a refill. It took entirely too long for our food to come out and our waitress was just not attentive and always appeared to be in a rush. I would have given Oceans and Ale at least another star if it had not been for the poor service.

Ate here for lunch(VDay) while out shopping at the outlets. Sat at the bar. Bartender was friendly, not overly talkative. Ordered a crab cake sandwich and the salmon topped with crabmeat, asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes and the seafood macaroni and cheese(really its just shrimp but it was still really good). Most places that offer mac and cheese dont taste like a good baked mac and cheese but this did. Had a little crust around it but still really gooey and moist on the inside. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was really fresh. Sides were just as good. I did not get one, but saw the Bloody Mary bar, which had all the fixins’. My only concern was all the items just sitting out in the open but I guess thats ok. Service was fast. I would definitely return.

Williamsburg as known as tourist area so I didn’t expect too much. I ordered the seafood pot pie and it was an amazing! It was crowded but It wasn’t take a long time to bring my food. In my opinion, price is pretty good for seafoods and my friend order a steak and crab cake combo was $ 22 or 23. They have an all you can eat crab legs on wed night. I will definitely come back there and order the seafood nacho. Glad my friend recommended me to go there. The place will be my favorite restaurant in Williamsburg.

We ordered seafood nachos, Asian lettuce wraps, seafood macaroni and cheese, filet Mignon and crab cakes. The food was okay. The place has a nice vibe and good drinks, our waitress was really nice as well but the food was just okay… I enjoyed my time though.

Stumbled upon this lil gem. Great selection of beers but the food was spot on. We had the crab ball appetizer which was very tasty with two spicy dipping sauces. I had grilled Mahi Mahi. It was fresh and cooked perfectly and reasonably priced. My husband always looking for a deal had a 6 oz sirloin with two sides and a salad for $ 11.00! He said it was very good and perfectly filling. A great place and a new go too for us.

Great bar& restaurant. Who would expect fajitas at an «Ocean and Ales»? Finally a place where you get the basics and the amount, thou tight fit the 3 soft tacos. Very good! Not overkill! Excellent staff!

I’ve been twice, both times getting the Mahi tacos. The food is good, but the kitchen was REALLY slow today!

This is without a shadow of a doubt Williamsburg’s best restaurant. From the food to the staff to the drinks to the atmosphere, this is always my go to place. Whenever guests from out of town, both business and family are here, this is where I take them. Unfortunately for me, I am allergic to all seafood but the menu still has a wide variety for me to choose from. My seafood loving friends always say the seafood nachos are the go to appetizer. For entrees, I usually get the buffalo chicken cheesesteak(better than some I’ve had from Philly), the hungry surfer and the Hawaiian ribeye. The restaurant also offers a special or event pretty much every night of the week. If you go on Wednesday for All You Can Eat crab legs, expect a long wait. It’s probably their most popular night because that’s where a lot of locals go on Wednesdays but the longest I’ve ever had to wait was 20 minutes so if they tell you 2 hours, it may not necessarily be that long. Definitely make O&A your go to place in town. I wish I could give it more than five stars.

This place always looked poppin, so my boyfriend and I decided to celebrate a little occasion here. We felt pretty uncomfortable around our server. She seemed sort of aggressive. She came around a lot, which was nice, but just her manner seemed to come off strong. Another thing that I felt was strange was that she couldn’t tell us the price of the draft beers. I asked how much a specific pint would cost and she said anywhere from 4 – 9 dollars… uh that’s a huge difference. If I’m going to pay more than 7 bucks for a beer then I might as well get a cocktail… and I did. I went with the Irish Mule and I enjoyed that very much. I was a big fan of the strong ginger taste. We started off with the crab dip due to the Unilocal reviews, and weren’t disappointed. The dip was cheesy but wasn’t all filler. My boyfriend got some sort of chicken wrap, which was just okay to me. It was overwhelmingly filled with some sort of orange mayo-based sauce. I got the lime chicken fajitas which came out sizzling with big hunks of chicken, so I was a fan. The veggies were a bit too oily for my taste. Both entrees were nothing to write home about, but their drinks and crab dip were spot on.

We stopped here for lunch hoping to find the a game on, and we found it and great food. First kids meal. Why can’t every restaurant do what O&A does and provide good choices(Mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, fish and chips) with a real side(veggies, fruit or fries) and a drink? It’s really not hard and it makes the adults so much happier. Now for adults. The beer selection is good and includes a great rotating tap selection. The food is mostly seafood but they had nice salads and non seafood too. He had the Key West salad a do had blackened mahi mahi tacos. Both were fantastic. We will definitely recommend and return to O&A!

Stopped at Oceans & Ale for dinner and drinks with a colleague during a business trip to Williamsburg. It was pretty crowded for a Wednesday night. The hostess told us it would be about a 40 min. wait, so we ended up sitting at the bar. Wines range between $ 8 and $ 10 a pour. Kind of pricey, but they offer a nice selection to choose from. Dinner menu offers a good variety of salads, sandwiches and other entrees. Feeling obligated to get seafood, I went with the crabcake sandwich($ 13 — one of the cheaper items on the menu) and a side of green beans. Food tasted great and filled me up. Service was OK. It took awhile for us to get the bartender’s attention to order food, and when my colleague asked her a question about one of the sides, she didn’t even attempt to answer it. Aside from the service, everything was great. Overall, a good spot for travelers or tourists looking for a nice dinner in the area.

It’s on the corner of a small shopping center next to Williamsburg«Premium Outlets.» I found it to be a little inconspicuous. And I was expecting something fancier, but not sure why. It’s extremely casual. Lots of TVs, lots of high-top tables and booths and lots of space. We went on an early Sunday afternoon. The bloody mary bar was just ending. All types of fixings. Even Slim Jim. I had no idea that could go in a bloody mary, OR okra. But I don’t drink them, so there’s that. The bar seemed like a big attraction, so if you like bloody mary’s, you should probably build your own here. I enjoyed the crab dip. Way too much. This is probably one of my favorites.

Our morning started in York River State Park… followed by a couple hours at the outlets, concluded with a trip to Oceans & Ale. We were debating between here and Pierce’s(our normal«go-to» when in Williamsburg), but decided to try something different. So happy we did! Our party included 2 adults and 3 children. The atmosphere was very laid back and the prices were exceptionally reasonable. We also lucked out with visiting on a Sunday(they had happy hour… I think $ 2 beers!).

Stopped here for lunch as we wrapped up some outlet shopping. It’s one of the few restaurants in the center, located on the end of a section near the Food Lion(note: the GPS had no clue how to get us there, as we were moving the car). Food was average and certainly nothing special. I had a burger that was slightly overcooked from the medium I ordered, but it was okay. I asked about the onion rings and our server said they were«fabulous!» Really they were frozen onion rings and kind of greasy. Meh. My husband enjoyed his fish and chips — the fish was a huge piece. Kiddo had grilled cheese. Note that the fries are round and a little different, but better than the onion rings. Slight hiccup — no milk available. They don’t serve it. None in the entire restaurant! Crazy. Service was fine; kind of slow, but okay. Friendly.

Service with a smile! Had a great time here. From the moment we walked in, the hostess and waiters were awesome(tax free shopping weekend). Very busy today but we were seated shortly after we walked in. Food: fried shrimp, fish and chips, sunrise burger, popcorn shrimp(kids) and Chicken tenders(kids) = all came out hot and delicious! Bathrooms were a bit small and not as clean as I would like!

Alright so after a volunteer event Hampton Road clean the bay day my coworkers and I went to this spot. I did not know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised when I got there. This place was clean and neat. We sat outside on the deck. The jobob brought us crab dip, seafood nachos and wings. The food was excellent wings were nice and crisp but just little spicy. The seafood nachos were outstanding. If I ever make it back that will definitely be on the menu. The crab dip did not last and they brought out about three servings. This place is a definite gem in Williamsburg. I wish it would have looked was a little bigger but it does work. if you ever in Williamsburg I want a nice place to go relax, have drinks, and have some good food this is a place you should look up.
