Specialties

Art with Sara is an art school for kids and adults specializing in teaching our students how to draw and paint. We offer:

1. Regular Ongoing Classes for Kids ages 5 – 13, and Teens & Adults ages 14 and up. Here is where students learn the in-depth foundation of art. Classes are ongoing and meet once a week. Students will start with simple, fun drawings and be guided through to realistic drawings that they never thought possible!

2. Art & Wine Night events for adults 21 and up. You bring the wine and we provide the rest. No experience necessary!

3. Art Camps during school breaks: Summer, Winter, and Spring. Our current session starts June 4 and ends August 9. Camps are Tuesday-Friday 11am-2pm. You can register for one day or multiple days.

4. Art Parties of various packages and age groups. This is a fun and unique way to celebrate your special event.

History

Established in 2010.

Though Art with Sara is a new company, we have gained a faithful following of students eager to learn the secrets of creating successful works of art. Thanks to Whittier’s Antique Fair in 2010, where 15 minute free art lessons were given all day long at our booth, Art with Sara gained 20 students in it’s first month. Without any advertisement, our classes grew quickly just by word of mouth. Art with Sara moved into a spacious art studio on Bailey Street, where student art work is proudly displayed in the window. This has attracted much attention from the local community, who are hungry for artistic knowledge. Our students are consistent winners of art contests, and some of our students even sell their work. We have now become a proud staple in our community and we thank all of our loyal students for this!

Meet the Business Owner

Sara M.

Business Owner

I started my business thanks to a few blessings in disguise. I worked as a secretary for 16 years but yearned for a more creative career. I had no idea how to start and it was just a far off dream. Then the big economy crash of 2008 happened. I was laid off from 2 jobs at the same time. I lost everything except my car and my clothes. Luckily, I had some friends willing to let me «couch-surf» and during the next 2 years, I saved up every unemployment check I could gather. To make a very long story short, the state of the economy worked in my favor and I was able to negotiate an affordable lease in a huge space. With the unemployment money I had saved, I was able to marry my artistic sense with my business sense… and it worked! I am now one of the lucky few who has a fulfilling career doing what I love. I’m forever grateful to my loyal students and staff. I’ve had a faithful following since the day I opened and our classes have grown steadily and successfully ever since!
