Route 21 Auto Wash & Detail

I love this car wash. It does a very thorough job of cleaning my car and the prices a very reasonable. The customer service is great too!

Been here enough times that I just earned my second premium wash through receipts this past weekend, and I normally only use the $ 3-​$ 6 washes.
Fantastic wash for the price and free vacuums too.
Have I ever been asked if I wanted an upgrade … yes every time, but I never felt pressure to do so. Can’t blame a person for trying to up the sale, when I decline (vast majority I do say no) I just move along with the wash I chosen, again with no pressure.
Now I have never had detailing work done here, fact is I probably never will. For that I prefer the hand wash sites.
But for a quick, cheap, drive by wash and vacuum and with the best dryers I’ve seen in any mechanical wash. They’re the best.

Wish I could also give this place a zero star rating!!! Damaged my brand new truck and then told me it was physically impossible after talking to the alleged owner David Leiberman who was condescending and rude! Won’t go there period… Looking for their insurance carrier and might even have to hire an Atty since this place has the tendency to not take care of these issues! Call BBB also! Good luck with that damaged vehicle when you get through here!

Went to this place several times until the car wash defaulted last week and stated smacking into the side of my truck over and over causing damage! David Lieberman (owner or manager) would not even discuss the damage right after it happened, nor would he let me retrieve the parts of my truck that were broken off in his car wash. Had to calm the police, filed with BBB, and contacting his insurance now. City of Wheeling stated they have had numerous calls about damage to people’s vehicles from this car wash, and after filing a complaint with the Attorney Generals office, it was also noted that others have filed the same damage reports with this business/​car wash.

Excellent service. Thanks for taking great care of my Acura! I did spend more than what I intended, but I wasn’t surprised. My car had scrapes that needed to be buffed out. I had no idea that Route 21 could take care of those scrapes. My car looks new again! Great wax job too. I will be back.

This place doesn’t deserve any stars, I would go there from time to time to get a car wash if I was in the neighborhood. On December 5, I decide to get a wash. I was convinced to pay for a detail, Paid for It but, then I find out they had no time so they asked me to come back the next day. Overnight I change my mind and decided not to do it I went in the next day I informed the gentleman that I decided not to do it he said no problem we will give me a refund. Two weeks went by I called the place spoke to the same guy said oh I’m sorry there’s a delay in the refund you’ll get it no problem it is now January 6 and I didn’t get anything so I went to the car wash and I spoke to a junior (Who is the the manager according to his shirt). He is the most condescending person that I’ve ever dealt with in customer service of any kind weather be at a store or carwash anywhere that has to do with customer interaction. At that time I was told that all I cant get back a refund but ONLY a $ 150 gift card. And to take it or leave W/​any refund of any kind. Which is not what I wanted I wanted a full refund on my credit card when I spoke to the other gentleman that sold me the detail he said that there would be no problem to get a refund. This manager Junior, which was such a rude person, I have never dealt with any one like him. If somebody asked me recommend a place for a carwash, I tell you to get a bucket & a hose & do it yourself I would give this place another dime. NO ONE SHOULD!!! Steer clear of this place.

I always get a good car wash here and the value is by far the best than pretty much anywhere. I like that they don’t have people wiping off your car as you leave shaming you into a tip. A secret… they’ll give you the six dollar car wash for five dollars if you ask for the three dollar wash.

Best car wash ever!!! My car was in desperate need of a bath and for $ 10 my car came out sparkling! I have never had my wheels come out so clean from a drive through car wash! It’s great that they also had free vacuums which was fantastic because there’s plenty of room to clean out your car. The staff was very friendly and I will definitely come back again!

Very, very mediocre wash. They think their prices are good, but what you get for the money defines the value.
No human will touch your vehicle unless you spend for the more expensive options.
Your car will leave wet and will get streaks and sun spots.
I went by just now. The car in front of me and I sat there for almost 5 minutes because no one was manning the booth. You can’t sell washes if you won’t take my money. I left and headed elsewhere.
There is better out there for the same or less money.

Slow service. Talking on the phone instead of taking care of the customers. Argggh poor customer service.

Told them we were coming next day for Complete Detail. Only to get there with no availability because we didn’t give them money to hold our spot. Not very professional. Have tried normal wash/​dry and while they do a nice job, they only have enough people working there to do it every third time I’ve gone. I give up!

I don’t know what’s up with all these negative reviews but who can beat a $ 3 car wash? For an extra couple bucks, they even clean under the car and it’s the cheapest form of entertainment around for the kids. They love driving through he car wash with me.

I wasn’t expecting much since I think the $ 3 wash on Lake Cook and Rand doesn’t clean my car so well, but I figured I’d give this place a shot since it’s close to work. I was actually kinda impressed by it.
I used to come to this car wash when it was America’s Best and I thought it was the best in the area. Unfortunately, the old owners retired and sold off the car wash. They’ve remodeled the wash to make it more automated and put in a ton of new free vacuums and made the wash tunnel a bit longer. I usually go for the deluxe wash which is $ 10 and my car comes out nice and clean and almost perfectly dried with the air blowers. They don’t have people drying your car like America’s Best used to, but honestly, I didn’t see a need since the blow dryers did so well.
so for a cheap and quick wash, I’d definitely come back here again and I have.

Unless you want poor customer service or your car damaged, don’t spend a penny here. Your $ 3 wash can soon turn into a $ 100 or more on car damage. Unfortunately, mine ended up turning into a $ 650 bill for the damage done to my BRAND NEW 2015 car in which I have purchased 4 months ago. If I could rate this place to zero, I would. But I can’t…and the only good thing about this place are the free use of vacuums.
I like to keep my car clean inside and out and since this is my first new car, I plan to keep it this way. Recently I had a complete inspection on my car and the car is running beautifully. No excuses as to why they ruined my vehicle.
For customers:
You will literally question your rights as a customer here. I feel like my car was vandalized and it’s pretty much legal for this place to not do a thing because their sign says so. So to save you the trip, money, and hassle, it’s better to try elsewhere for a wash. The vacuums are good, but if you want to go here for a wash… enter at your own risk!
Route 21, you lost yourself a potentially loyal customer and I will share my personal experience with others.

I must say I was skeptical when it first opened, but I have been there over a half dozen times with 3 different cars (Ford Explorer, convertible and a sedan) and am well pleased. Love the fact that you can get in and out quickly — the longest wait is at the pay station. Automated dryers allow for a quick trip through the wash and you are done. Free vacuums work well and are numerous so no waiting for them. $ 3 wash is actually pretty good. And yes, they always try to get you to upgrade to the next level which during winter time is worth it.

I have been here a few times. But just for a quick wash. No big deal. So cam in for a full detail. Guy gave me a great price and did an amazing job. My truck looks new. And after all the salt in the seats and floor. I cant believe it… Thank u david! Great job

Wow! I came back yesterday and the woman gave me a dirty look because I didn’t want to spend more than $ 3.
This is the same lady who said the $ 3 wash wouldn’t take off the grime and salt off of my brand new truck. Calm yourself Woman!

I give them zero but I cant. If any of you were involved in the 6 car accident there that happened today I was also involved. They didnt help or do anything. Than they said they could buff and fix my moms car which was also in that accident. Instead it like blistered the paint making it worse. They than told my mom to leave the premises. Rude HORRIBLE place. Cant believe there was a hit and run alone but than they tried to fix my moms car and make it worse. Plus my car is damaged from that accident. Disgusting business.

Terrible and rude customer service! After going through the wash, it broke my side mirror off. Then when I went to speak to the manager, instead of getting an apology, I was accused of gluing it together before going there. They also asked if I was the orginal owner. Are you joking me? Rude!!! Granted they have a sign about them not being responsible for things being broken, it would have been nice if the guy that was standing there pushed in my side mirrors like other places do. It will cost me over 400 dollars to get it fixed. On top of that my car was not clean! Don’t go there!!!

What a great job redoing this old car wash. They put in all new machinery and advertise it as a $ 3 car wash which if you read closely is for only lightly soiled cars. It’s really an exterior only car wash but for $ 6 you get a great wash with a really long heated drying section and free vacuums.
The $ 3 car washes have been popping up everywhere but this is by far the best with the longest heated drying section and the car comes out almost completely dry. I washed my car when it was 10 degrees outside and my car was steaming when it got outside because it was so warm from the hot water and air.
They usually have $ 2 coupons off for the $ 10 and $ 14 washes but I would skip the $ 14 wash as the tire shine treatment really does not work. They get you in quickly and I’ve never had to wait for more than 5 minutes.
It’s between Lake Cook and Dundee on Milwaukee!
