While Carl has been attentive to my dogs for years, the orchestration of the business is handled by Margaret. She is cold and callus and dictates terms of service. She does not accommodate the client by any means. I always tipped Carl heavily for his care. However, if you ever need to deviate from Margaret’s schedule, she does not accommodate at all. In fact, she is demeaning on the phone and outright rude. She feels as though the client doesn’t deserve to be put first. This is evidenced by no return calls or being hung up on. When you digest this review, understand it is furnished by a physician who has been in practice for 25 years servicing over thirty thousand patients with five offices in the tri county area. I have firm understanding of customer care and retention. Margaret does not care about retention of clients. When attempting to modify the mobile grooming schedule, she refused to provide services without a 100.00 fee, despite having a 10+ year history with her business When I disputed this fee, she abruptly hung up on me and refused to answer multiple attempts to call her back. Her business model is a Rhetorical fallacy. Post hoc ergo propter hoc. Just because something comes after another event does not mean they are related. Broke my leg. No more bringing pup to groomer — she’s too big and stubborn. What a lifesaver these folks were — and no more expensive than the others.
She came back to me an hour later — smelling great, all clean — and happy! That’s the best part.

I recently made an appointment with The Pooch Caboose for the first time to have my 2 dogs groomed. They are older dogs and have a bit of separation anxiety when I have to leave them at the groomer all day. The groomer arrived on time, was extremely friendly, and he was very sweet to my dogs. When they were done they both looked amazing and smelled great. Best of all, they weren’t stressed at all because they didn’t have to go in my car. This is an excellent service, and I will definitely be using them from now on!

We highly recommend Pooch Caboose. We used them for the first time after having numerous bad experiences at local groomers. Scheduling the appointment was easy and the Pooch Caboose rolled into the driveway at the promised time. Carl got to know our golden retriever before loading him into the nicely sized R/​V. When he was finished, the dog looked awesome. Nicely trimmed, cleaned and dried. The best part is, we achieved this result without traumatizing the dog. We will certainly use Pooch Caboose in the future!

I’m so surprised there isn’t a review that hasn’t been established for this business but happy to write the first review… Good dog groomers are difficult to find but Carl is wonderful! We have a sweet dog named Luce who is about 15 years old now.
We’ve been using Pooch Caboose for the last 10 – 12 years. My mum vacations in Canada and Luce really misses Carl when he’s here. When they first got Luce, she would take him to an expensive groomer in Wilmette. After bringing him home with a badly bruised leg it was enough and she wanted to try something else. We had seen Carl’s Pooch Caboose van parked at a neighbor’s house and tried and gave him a ring and she’s been a loyal customer ever since.
It’s so convenient they come to your house and Carl just connects a long extension cord to get power. Carl is so gentle with our skittish dog, he knows perfectly how to style is hair and his hair is left smelling delightful!
Margaret (Carl’s sister) usually coordinates appointments. It took a while for us to get added as well since their business is quite booked (a good sign since there are many happy customers like us) but we could never imagine turning to another groomer. Carl is really a gentle soul and godsend!
