I have been a customer for a few years using Excel several times. Each time they were prompt in showing for the appointment. However, when it comes to fixing things, they seem to only want to fix the easy and fast money makers. I have Kohler fixtures which seem to be a bit more complicated and Excel doesn’t seem to have any parts for them. So, they tell me, they will order the parts and get back to me. One months later, I call them because I didn’t hear from them. The receptionist tells me she is going to ask the plumber who worked on our home and get back to me. Another month goes by, I call again. The receptionist, Natalya, tells me that she heard them talking about ordering the Kohler parts, so, she knows they’ve been working on it
(she must think I’m a moron). But, she will find out and call me back at the end of the day. Good thing I wasn’t holding my breath! I actually told her that if they couldn’t do the job, let me know and I will find someone else. She reassured me that that was not the case. One would think that this was an oversight or bad organization but this has now happened for two different situations. I will have to now say that this is the way Excel does business. I’ll be looking for another plumber. I didn’t think Kohler products were so unusual that a plumbing company couldn’t handle fixing it.

We came home from vacation and discovered our sump pump had failed, no damage luckily. I found Excel Plumbing on Unilocal and gave them a call this morning. A helpful operator walked through the situation and promised a plumber would be here between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
Like clockwork the Excel called a little after 1:00 to let us know the plumber was one the way. When Mark, the plumber, arrived he was courteous and well spoken. He analyzed the problem gave me options and a written quote. I approved the work and he was done in a little over an hour and a half. He did good quality work, cleaned everything up, emailed me photos of the repair and a receipt.
The work was top notch. I highly recommend Excel Plumbing.

I had 2 plumbers from Excel come out:
The first plumber was not friendly and did not bother to introduce himself. I introduced myself and explained what the plumbing issue was and what I had done in attempt to resolve the issue myself. After the plumber gave me an estimate and blamed me for the plumbing issue I said «no thanks» to the offer of him staying to work on it. I called Excel to let them know I was unhappy with the plumber that was sent out and they were very very apologetic and set up another appointment.
The second plumber was much more friendly. Unfortunately he was not able to resolve the plumbing issue as it was larger than just rodding the line (which he made several strong attempts to do) but he did take the time to explain to me what was going on and provided a quote before leaving.

My husband and I hired Excel Plumbing through a deal on Angie’s List for a full house inspection. Our water bills were getting rather high and we suspected there was a leak somewhere. The plumber arrived on time and looked at the hot water tank, faucets, tubs/​showers, dishwasher, washing machine, and flushed the toilets. After he completed his inspection he informed us that there was not any leaks in our house and to contact the village because it sounded like there was something wrong with our meter. So the next day we contacted our village water department and they were very nice and did a graph for us showing that our water is constantly running somewhere in the house and they felt 95% positive it was from our toilets. They advised us to go get some food coloring and drop it in the tanks and if it runs down into the bowl you have a leak. So my husband went to Jewel and bought food coloring and we did our dye test… sure enough 2 out of our 3 toilets were leaking.
I called my dad and all he had to do was replace the stoppers on the toilets (something my licensed plumber should have found on the original visit).
Thanks dad… wish I called him first and saved $ 75.

Since buying my home I have been having a problem with not having enough hot water, I had numerous plumbing companies come out and all told me it was related to water heater (which was relatively new and I wasn’t going to replace it!). Eventually Excel came out and determined that the lines were crossed inside the wall. They were able to quickly rectify the problem with minimum damage to the drywall and even had a contractor come out to patch up the wall at no extra charge.
Their plumbers were always on time, clean, courteous, knowledgeable and fairly priced.
I recommend Excel Plumbing to everyone I know, and will continue to use them myself.

What an amazing reputable company. I had a very nice man come to my home over three months ago to fix a problem. He did an great job but, for some reason it happened again. This issue could have been my fault or just wear and tear. I called them to come out again because I really like their service. The plumber they sent me was a man named John. He was amazing!!! He took the time to really look into the problem and to make sure it will never happen again. I was a few weeks out of my warranty but they still honor that. That tells me a lot about the company, they clearly are there for their customers. I recommend this company 1000% I have had nothing but The most positive experiences with them. This will be the only plumber I use and recommend to anyone and everyone!!!

Last Year I had an RPZ installed in my home for sprinkler system and it broke because I forgot to properly winterize it. I called them and explained the situation and wanted to get a quote for new RPZ, but instead of installing a brand new unit, Excel guys sent a repair guy who was able to repair it with needed parts for ¼th the cost of new unit. I was amazed at the professionalism and desire to save me money on a repair. Highly recommend.

OK, the good news; they came out to my home and did a free evaluation of my water softener which was clearly kaput.
The bad news: recommended a top of the line salt free unit at $ 3K. They also claimed, without any evidence that the water heater was ruined by crap that the water softener MAY have been outputting. Recommended replacing it with a $ 2.3K unit.
Me: flushed the water heater to find there was nothing but clear water in it. No crude or crap. Then, I replaced the existing salt based water softener with a new 40 000 grain salt based unit for $ 500. Sure, I have to put salt in it once and a while but come on!
Lots of people below had great experiences but the team I dealt with made no effort to make a comparable technology offer. They went for the gold ring trying to pitch me a $ 5300 solution. I’m sure it would have worked but I really felt they were trying to pull a fast one.

I called to set up an appointment for an estimate on a complicated plumbing project. I explained exactly what this would involve (new plumbing related to moving a washer/​dryer from one part of the house to another, etc.). Someone came to our house at the scheduled appointment time. However, this person was unable to provide any sort of estimate as he only does repairs. I was told that someone would call me right away and they would send someone over who could provide the estimate. I waited and no one called.
I had taken the morning off from work to get this estimate and wound up totally wasting my time. Three days later I still haven’t heard from anyone. I had called Excel based on the Unilocal reviews. This is really not a great way to muster up new business.

Vlad is probably one of the best true project managers I’ve met. What I was amazed at is their ability to think ahead and prevent possible problems. Strategic Project Panning. We had called Excel in for what appeared to be a simple laundry tub faucet assembly replacement. Then while checking connections, the serviceman, David, noticed extremely advanced electrolysis at an ancient connection in the furnace room that also was leaking and would have burst had it gone on too much longer. So we ended up with a much bigger project, including replacement of corroded pipes plus a new laundry tub. But a crisis was averted. Throughout, David was helpful and informative, a true professional. A big job at a reasonable price.

George was the tech and he was also extremely professional and efficient throughout the entire process. fast, affordable service!
We used Excel Plumbing for an issue with our water heater leaking. The plumber (George) came quickly (within a few hours), talked through the problem and possible solutions and provided an estimate of the cost. The low end of the estimate was the service fee ($ 90), which is higher than some but is not automatically charged just for providing an estimate (see my other reviews…)
Once I authorized him to start working, he had the problem diagnosed and fixed within 15 – 20 minutes, including cleaning up the excess water.
George was professional, courteous and his work was high quality, including tightening up a bolt that the water heater installer had not tightened.
We were very happy with Excel Plumbing and would highly recommend them!
