Specialties
We are a beautiful historic inn, that is off the beaten path, in a peaceful and tranquil setting that allows you to unwind. We do have Wi-Fi, but no TV’s and the vibe here is very relaxing. Our other specialty is our food! The owner/chef has cooked at many acclaimed restaurants in Manhattan in the 70’s and 80’s including the Four Seasons and Rockefeller Center, and continues to produce top-quality gourmet meals. Our remote location also offers us the space to grow most of our produce, including fun forgotten veggies like nettles, cardoons, salsify and lovage that you just can’t find anymore, but create amazing unique foods! We also have about 60 chickens that provide ample eggs for our indulgent breakfasts! While we are off the main drag, we are still within reasonable driving distances from most of the local attractions including lighthouses, antiques, museums, shopping, and beaches, of course you can just lounge around here all day, go for a nice walk, and relax with a good book, some of the games we have here, or sit and watch for wildlife, including about 40 species of birds fox, coyotes and maybe more!
History
Established in 1980.
The inn has been a boarding house since the 50’s and an inn since the 80’s. Current owners, Roni & Mario DePietro took over in 2002 with extensive backgrounds in food and hospitality. They have since infused the inn with their European heritage and charm, including the Swiss cow bells and meals from Mario’s home country, and many souvenirs from her travels through Europe as a flight attendant for Pan Am and Delta.
Meet the Business Owner
Mario and Roni D.
Business Owner
Mario was trained as a chef in Switzerland in the #1 apprenticeship in the country. Roni went to hotel school England to train in hospitality. In 1969, they both decided to resettle together in New York City where Roni began working for Pan Am, and Mario was coveted by The Four Seasons hotel, where he worked. He continued his career with the same parent company working for restaurants such as Tavern On The Green and Rockefeller Center. They raised their children on Long Island, but once they left the nest, they decided to do something different, and began looking for an inn. They have been here now for 14 years and truly enjoy sharing their lovely piece of paradise with their guests, and feeding them as much of the amazing food they have here, as possible!
