Good Lord, I have no idea how this place continues to stay in business. Extremely mediocre fast food at outlandish prices. And they only accept cash. So unless you have $ 100 in your pocket you’re going to fork over an extra $ 3 at the ATM machine strategically located next to the dirty picnic tables. You have now been WARNED. For roadside ice cream, nearby Pizzi Farm in Waltham is a much better option.

We only come here for the ice cream. In my opinion they should stop serving food and just go the ice cream route. The soft serve is creamy and rich and the perfect treat on a summer night. The seating area is nice(watch out for ice cream drips!)

Horribly overpriced given the quality of food. Really not worth going at all. Had the cheeseburger with fries and soda and ended up paying 13 bucks after asking for standard fixings. Avoid.

Weston prices, Lilliputian portions, but, hey, when the weather warms up the yellow jackets are free!

Amazing food so good except SO expensive. Prices are ridiculous. But I think like it’s worth it as a treat

They really have to charge this much for ice cream? Very disappointing. I’ll drive a little further to go elsewhere. Shame.

We stopped for ice cream for the kids and while the ice cream was pretty good, the price was high — $ 3.85 for a single scoop for an average sized scoop, at best. The real disappointment was they only took cash and had an atm machine next to the store where I had the privilege to pay $ 3 to withdraw money for my overpriced ice cream — so 3 single scoops of ice cream cost me ~$ 15 — high in my book.

There’s very little difference in flavor among ice cream«flavors» except chocolate.(2) 22 bucks for a plate of fried clams???(3) I ordered a banana split. Staff debated, in front of me, whether the bananas they had were good enough to give me.

It’s ok. Pros: outdoor seating and chocolate dipped soft-serve on a sunny summer day. Cons: Price and quality. The food is just not that good. But if you want to grab lunch on picnic tables after a morning at Drumlin Farm or hiking at Mt. Misery, it’s a fun place to stop for burgers and ice cream.

I really wish I could give more than three stars, since I absolutely love their java berry soft serve. However, the prices are high, it is super crowded, and the tables are always a mess. The ice cream gets 5 stars, but everything else, not so much.

We were not feeling the joy yesterday and found our food pretty disappointing. This was not my first visit to Dairy Joy and I feel the quality of the food continues to decline while menu prices steadily climb. This cute little drive-up restaurant has so much potential and it is frustrating to see such a lack of effort from the management. My parents and I discovered this cute little spot a few years back and it became one of our favorite destinations for a quick road trip and lunch on a summer Saturday afternoon. The building is a charming little shack with take out windows and outdoor seating nestled on a peaceful, wooded setting. The food here is definitely overpriced! Although it is a very casual takeout, be prepared to drop a lot of cash here. My parents each had a cheeseburger yesterday and I ordered the fish sandwich. A few years ago I thought their burgers had a better char-grilled type of flavor to them, but they are now just a very average frozen beef patty. The fish sandwich was extremely dry, but it was a decent sized portion of fish — if only it tasted better. If you want fries with your sandwich you need to order the«Cheeseburger Special» or «Fish Sandwich Special” — this is how they refer to their combo meals. The menu is a little bit confusing until you get used to it. After lunch I went back up for ice cream which was delicious. Of course it’s hard to go wrong with soft serve chocolate vanilla twist with sprinkles. I love the country setting at Dairy Joy and enjoy sitting out on the picnic benches. The only problem is there is not enough shade. There is one table that seems to be in full shade while the others are in direct sunlight. Across the parking lot you will also find a couple tables near the woods as another shaded option if the sun is too much. I think a few umbrellas on the tables would be helpful. Dairy Joy is probably best for ice cream only since the food is definitely lacking. I would love to see management make some improvements because this little take out could really be such a gem.

This is just for the ice cream. It’s good, a bit on the expensive side, but where else are you going to go for soft serve in the area?

My husband really didn’t want to go here and I pushed him to go and boy do I regret it. Started off with not enough seating in shade, the tables were nasty! I’m not sure they’ve been wiped down since last summer. We’re not big germaphobes and don’t frequently come to Unilocal but last night’s experience and the post dinner haranguing I rec’d from the family made this review a priority. Servings/Portions were markedly small. Cheeseburgers were tiny and thin while the bun was big and bready. Bad combo. Small clam plate was about 10 clams and were a lunder-done, the outside breading was just about raw. My chicken salad sandwich had bones in it… gross. The amount of chicken salad in the sandwich was far less than an ice-cream scoop… Very disappointing. All this for prices out of this world. 80 dollars for dinner at a window? No Way! Don’t go… I’m pissed. I have to listen to my husband and kids complain about it and tell me «I told you we should have gone ANYWHEREELSE!» kids said ice cream was bland. Employees were not super helpful with the confusing and busy menu, they really wanted us to just hurry up and order. Miserable experience. Won’t go back and happy to share my experience with anyone who’ll listen. Also, there is no cell service or wifi available. So if you’re meeting someone, don’t plan on having ANY connection. In Mid 2015, the food is not good enough to hang out there without connections or refills on soda. OK there. Feel much better… on to better places! /SL

What a rip off. Took my son and a buddy for clams. They SHARED a clam plate, I had a clam roll, 3 drinks, 3 ice creams. OVEREIGHTY dollars. Are you kidding me? Next time… Legal Sea Food. \

Bottom line: way too expensive for what you get. Quality seems to have eroded, too. Went to Dairy Joy for dinner and ice cream and ordered veggie burgers(for hubs and me) and a grilled cheese for the little one to keep costs a bit under control. Yes, we know it’s an expensive joint. But hey, the food is great, right? Spoiler alert: not so much anymore. And their prices aren’t totally obscene, right? Nope. Two veggie burgers, one grilled cheese, two small fries, and a soda(which was watery) set us back $ 29. Seriously, how and why should a couple of veggie burgers and a grilled cheese cost so much? Probably would have kept my cool if they then didn’t give us the most microscopic ice cream cones on the planet. We ordered two smalls and a kiddie, but they were all the same size. Tiny. And yet they cost extra large prices. Hubs’ javaberry was good. My vanilla was totally tasteless. Don’t think we’ll be going back anytime soon. If Dairy Joy is going to charge over the top prices, I think they should deliver a product that is at least in the same league.

Overpriced and measly portions. For a $ 5 small ice cream, I basically got a kiddie cone.

Came here with my dog a few weeks ago now that the weather is nice. Lots of available parking and outdoor seating and my dipped cone was a very generous serving, but they could use more umbrellas as during the summer your ice cream won’t last 5 minutes out in the sun. CASHONLY, but they have an ATM out front. Main issue with this place is the bees. There are a ton flying around the seating area, they need to spray or work on this as I was constantly having to move around to get rid of them.

This place is gross. Both of us had queasy stomachs after eating ice cream there yesterday. The cones were stale as were the jimmies(leftover from 2014?). I took a bite and tossed it and still felt sick. Even better is watching the kid manning the shack pick up your ice cream(that has toppled in jimmies) with her bare fingers and put it back on cone. Yechhhhh

Went here last night and at first I was going to go solely for the ice cream because a friend of mine posted a picture on Facebook and it looked delicious. We ended up getting dinner first which consisted of a shrimp plate, scallop plate, fish and chips and 3 small sodas. While our dinner was good it was expensive for three people($ 70+ for what I listed above!!!) and the portions were not very large at all. The girls working the front were nice enough. They were fairly new –they told us so– but they didn’t even know what came in the scallop/shrimp plates. There’s not much on the menu so I’m not sure why they haven’t learned what’s on the menu yet. The only thing I’d go back here for is the java berry ice cream. That was delicious and I can see it being very refreshing on a hot summer day!!!

Dairy Joy is like that good looking girl that you meet that smiles and turns out she has yellow teeth and a huge gap between her two front teeth. Dairy Joy is a picturesque little ice cream/snack shack in a quiet part of Weston. You roll up and its exact what you would picture if someone described it to you; a bunch of picnic tables, a little hut they cook everything out of, surrounded by forest. And it gets better; you get to the line, you see about a billion things you want to try, everyone at the picnic table seems to be enjoying their food and you realize you need to make a ginormous decision; fried clams, a burger or the lobster roll? A creamsicle or a Java berry? A slush or a Raspberry-Line rickey?! So you splurge and get everything, right? How bad could it be? It’s just a little ice cream shack? This is where previous mentioned good looking girl smiles and you see her nasty chompers. $ 17 for a small portion of fried clams!!! $ 5 for a ricky?! $ 3-$ 4 for a creamsicle or marble twist??? Hello!!! Now, now let’s get a few things clear before I lose you folks. The fried clams are really, really, really good. Fresh, perfectly seasoned and tossed with just the right amount of breadcrumbs. BUT $ 17FOR A SMALLAND $ 39(!!!) FOR A LARGEPORTION? Am I at Peter Luger steakhouse? Where did the charming ice cream shack go? $ 8 for a burger, no sides?! $ 5 for a raspberry lime ricky?! Hell, they better but a shot or two of premium tequila in that bad boy! And the creamsicle, which is easily some of the best soft serve I’ve ever had — $ 4 a cone!!! I mean all the stuff I had was so, so good but sooooooooo expensive. I mean if you’re a big family, you come here and get everyone a decent dinner, drinks, some sides and ice cream, you might as well hand Dairy Joy your pay check or just go to a fancy restaurant. A place like this would get an easy… EASY5 stars from me, but the prices here are highway robbery. I’d come by and definitely try out the goods, but I can’t see how you can come here on a regular basis.
