McGrath Acura of Westmont

Tried to do business with this dealership. I sent them a very detailed email on a specific vehicle I was interested in. I receive a canned response that «Angel» would be assisting me. I waited for someone to contact me regarding the inquiry but I did not hear back (just a series of canned automatic email responses). I can’t comment on how they treat their customers after the sale, since I won’t be purchasing anything here, but the lack of communication in the pre-​sale process was poor.
Sort the Unilocal review by date (newest ones on top) and take a look at the comments regarding the purchasing process. Don’t waste you time here. There’s a host of more customer-​focused Acura dealers in the area.

Horrible experience. I called and said I wanted to come look at a car they had and test drive it. Immediately after the test drive the salesman had paperwork for me to do a credit check. I was bringing a trade in which was valued at $ 1400 in its current condition. They told me they could only give me 700 because they would have to pay to detail it etc, but the value for the condition was clearly stated at 1400. After I didn’t budge the salesman got the finance manager, and said he would give me 1500 for the trade in. The car I was interested in they listed at $ 9900. Of course they asked what I wanted my monthly payment to be, which doesn’t matter, what matters is the total cost of the car minus the down payment and my trade in. Eventually he offered me the car for $ 9000, I was getting $ 1500 for trade in, and going to put down $ 2000 cash. So simple math, $ 9000, minus $ 3500 in cash and trade in equals $ 5500 left to finance. Even at a 4% interest rate over 6 years that payment would be about $ 75 a month. He told me he could get my payments to $ 120 a month over 6 years. That would mean I would be financing over $ 7500, which makes no sense. Basically they were trying to sell me the car for over $ 12,000. They will try to rip you off. Do not do business here!

I’ve had some small issues that needed to be taken care of as well as a TSB. Devin was the mechanic that worked on it and let me tell you this… He knows his stuff. I will never consider taking my MDX to another dealer. McGrath is the BEST. Thank you for everything. One Happy Customer

McGrath Acura of Westmont probably has the best service I have ever seen from a dealership. In the past 3 years, I’ve interacted with 5 dealerships and McGrath of Westmont absolutely blows the competition away. Lauri Cavin (Salesperson), Tom Sinno (Director of Sales), Nick Samhan (Finance Manager) and Ryan Pearl (Service) worked great as a team to take care of me throughout the deal of my two new Acura’s. They made sure everything was taken care of even though I stayed an hour past their closing time. Highly recommend this dealership over a lot that are out here in the neighboring towns.

Don’t bother coming here. Wasted 2 hours with a drive for a car they said they had and then just sold before getting there. Tried to sell other vehicles and then gave me a ridiculous quote for my trade in 3500 less than what I already had offered at 2 other dealerships

Called the service dept at 3:58 to ask a simple question about an MDX I had purchased a few months ago. Was told that they close at 4:00 and that they had all gone home. I can see why they have so many single star reviews.

We were close to getting a good deal but they ultimately ripped us off. The managers are aggressive and rude but the salesperson we had was nice. Leased a car at a price I shouldn’t have paid, won’t do business here again.

I’ve been to most dealerships on Ogden and this was by far the worst experience. I don’t want to give away the sales managers name, but wow they just expect you to seal the deal after test driving the car for 10 minutes! He was trying soooo hard to make it seem like he was doing us a huge favor, by taking $ 10 off monthly payment. We literally were there for 2 hours and he kept pushing and pushing. Towards the end he goes once you walk out that door you’ll never get the deal again and was sooo rude about it. Like damn he’s doing me the favor if anything he wanted the favor of getting our business. I’m still paying for the car and I have the right to choose not to make the decision right then and there. It’s the end of the month so obviously he was trying so hard to make a sale but there is a limit of how far you should go. Honestly I’ve never felt so uncomfortable at a dealership before, you should never make a customer feel that way. SOO glad we didn’t end up getting a car from them. All these negative reviews are accurate. Will never be coming back to them or giving them my business no matter what.

I’ve had two back to back disappointing interactions with this dealership within a week time period. I’m an out-​of-​town buyer (internet/​phone) and wanted to purchase a certified pre-​owned 2014 Acura MDX. I first got a salesperson named Angel who initially took my call and told me that he would get back to me the next day on information on the current inventory. I didn’t hear anything back for a week until the manager checked in to see if I got what I needed. I requested another sales person and got Erik N. who at least helped me understand the current cars that fit my need. We got to the point where I sent Erik my trade information and he was going to get back to me «right away» with final pricing and what they would do for my trade. I never heard back from him at all and at that point had given up. Apparently no one at this dealership wants my money.
I have seen several varied experiences from others’ reviews but I would say that my customer experience has been FAR BELOW professional and quite simply disrespectful to me as a customer. I’ve owned and purchased Acuras for over 15 years and never have remotely been treated the way I have from this dealership. To make sure I’m clear, it’s only the Westmont location. You (McGrath Wesmont) may want to take tips from your sister McGrath dealerships in the Chicago area who have treated me far better than you have. To the readers of my review thinking of buying a car in Chicago, if you stay with McGrath go to the other locations for your next Acura.

This review is for my experience with Ed from the service department. He’s great at helping me get the repairs I requested done on my car. He’s never tried to over sell me on things, like most people I’ve run into at dealerships and was a pleasure to deal with.

I regret my decision to go to McGrath. I was told on the phone a specific vehicle was on the lot, but the salesperson lied. They proceeded to show a more expensive vehicle. The vehicle had mechanical defects. Try a different dealership.

Thirteen years ago I was a dedicated McGrath Acura customer — ready for another Acura now and automatically thought my next purchase would be with this dealer… BUT… go to Naperville and don’t waste your time with this dealer… read on…
Recently my 2003 Acura TL-​S was part of the Takata recall — finally called this dealer, as it’s where I purchased the vehicle brand new Memorial Day weekend 2002. So almost 13 years and 168K miles later had faith that the great dealer I worked with 13 years previously would take care of this recall work.
I called service department — got onto the air bag recall list and made sure all of my contact information was up to date and accurate. They said when the parts come in, they would call me and then we’d schedule the work… sounded reasonable
Now fast forward almost 3 months… I’m starting to consider purchasing another Acura, this time a used 2012 MDX with low miles. Originally thought, I’d work with these guys as their inventory online looks like a lot of options.
NOW — really digging into the details of the certified pre-​owned options they have, most of those which fall into this category at this dealer are being purchased by this dealer at auction all over the states and then they bring them in to sell as certified pre-​owned. Seems ok… BUT then after reviewing a Naperville Acura dealer, ALL of their certified pre-​owned are vehicles they originally sold and/​or setup as lease. What does this mean? They know these vehicles and the Naperville dealer has an awesome service department maintaining these vehicles which then allows so many certified pre-​owned to be offered.
Needless to say — I purchased from the Naperville dealer and guess what? The very next day they were doing the recall work on my 2003 Acura airbags! REALLY! I’m keeping the 2003, so it needs to be safe.
Still no call from this dealer 3 months after getting on the airbag recall list.
Guess they are still waiting to get the parts in?
Go to Naperville!

Very disappointed in salesmen at this Acura Dealership. I worked with Angel. No good. Such shady people at that dealership. I have had a few other bad experiences there, but they have the most selection so I went back.
Angel was very arrogant and acted like he was doing me a favor. It was a very odd experience for me, almost laughable. I mean they are selling me a car not saving lives! Haha.
I was such an easy deal to make too! I knew what I wanted… looked for 2 days and bought one. Maybe he’s new and hasn’t figured out how to treat people and make an easy deal.
I ended up buying a car from another dealer (in Elmhurst) had a great experience with them. They were very respectful and wanted my business. Only took one day with me to buy… man what an easy sale I was :)
Angel and the guys there seemed to care less. So I gave them less… and walked out :) Loving my new Acura 2015 from Ed Napleton Elmhurst.
Oh and I called the manager to let him know how his guys are treating customers. No return call… I guess that apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Stay away — go to Naperville or Elmhurst. Really nice people there!

To get hold of parts guys is imposible. First day I called them it took 20 min to answer the phone. After week or so called them again — no answer. Called four times — no answer. Called to the main line, lady picked up the phone and transfer me to the parts department, been on hold for about 25 min no answer. I don’t know what is going on over here, but that kind of thing keeps me out of them. Maby you will get better luck.

If I could I’ll give 10 stars! our car buying experience went so smooth I can’t tell you enough. We were looking for SUV for us as my lovely Volkswagen jetta died on us about few weeks ago I was devastated but I guess it was the time to let it go. Back to my experience with McGrath westmont we went just to have a look at preowned Acura RDX as we didn’t wana to spend that much on new car we bumped into Dean Wareh he told us that they are closed for the day but would love to help us on Monday there was something about him that even though we went to few more Acura dealership but we had to come back to him I guess it’s his hearty Aura, amazing guy I wish him well as people around him would want the same. We went for a test drive with Spiro Kontaris. He was welcoming polite and explained everything nicely it was a treat and than I was contacted by Lauri while we were waiting on funds transfer talking to her was easy I never felt that she is pushing us into buying a car though we needed a car and they wana sell it. She was friendly, and walked us through everything we needed to get our process rolling. These three worked as a great team and I would suggest anybody who is looking for Acura car give this team a call they do everything possible to make things work for a customer. As we have brought our new Acura RDX home yesterday now it comes down to service and I am looking forward for the same experience for the service from them. And if any body goes to Dean and Lauri after reading this review say hello from Gurpreet please… Wish you guys luck in your car search

My wife and I didn’t end up buying from McGrath Acura in Westmont, as we didn’t end up going with an Acura. But even considering that, McGrath was the best dealership we dealt in with the long process of buying a small-​midsize SUV.
From just walking into the place we were immediately pleased with the level of customer service. We were offered immediate assistance, refreshments, and advice. We worked with Adam, who was outstanding. The space was clean and modern, which is a very simple win, but many other dealerships seemed to miss the most basic of things like keeping a clean showroom!
I consider myself to be a VERY educated car buyer; doing hours of research on all our candidate vehicles, and Adam was the ONLY person out of all the salespeople we worked with, at many many different dealerships who knew more about the vehicles than I did. He knew the car from top to bottom, and was able to get creative in order to place us in our desired vehicle at our price point that was lower than typical for an Acura.
He was not pushy, never did the old «What will it take to get you into this car today» line, and was very prompt, polite, and courteous with his follow-​up calls and e-​mails. I never felt spammed or pressed by him; it was truly an example of professionalism and exceptional business practices.
I was actually disappointed to not give him my business; but at the end of the day the Acura was just not the right car for us; which is certainly not a knock against Acura, Adam, or McGrath Acura. This will absolutely be our first stop when we are ready to buy again.
If you are in the market for an Acura, check this place out, and meet Adam; you wont be disappointed!

I have no stars to give, but I was not able to post the review without providing any star. However, this dealership doesnt deserve my single star as well. The worst customer experience that I ever received from a car dealer and that too ACURA. Its really a shame that a quality car like an ACURA is being sold by very very pathetic dealership.

BUYER BEWARE: Worst dealer ever, the experience almost made me go lease a new lexus.
I was in the market for a certified pre-​owned and had found an amazing price for a 2011 Acura TL Tech package at McGrath Acura of Westmont, so I took my mom with me on an hour drive out to Westmont to test drive it. I had called for that vehicle w/​the stock number before I left and they said it was on the lot.
Upon arriving at McGrath Westmont, it doesn’t look like a car dealership. It’s dark/​dim, low ceilings. And you know that weird creepy feeling you get when you feel like you’re being watched? That’s what it felt like being there, you just get those hair-​raising vibes that something is not right as soon as you walk in. Like the car salesman sleaze ball feeling? Yeah, you get that right away.
I asked for the vehicle that I saw online only to find out after 15 minutes of «searching» that the vehicle had been «sold» and they said the website hasn’t updated. They didn’t give me a direct answer as to when it was sold but that same car sat on their website for 2 weeks after this encounter. Talk about a bait and switch, I don’t think they even had it to be honest because I think they use it to lure customers in.
Then the salesman continued to walk me around the lot to show me a couple that I didn’t I want to look at (non-​tech). Of the TL models that he showed me had dents and dings that were very visible, some were really bad, they also had scratched rims, chipped paint in noticeable amounts, one vehicle had mismatching paint on the bumper and body (accident). Another vehicle had the yellow paint ALL over the wheel wells, (that paint you see on the road that separates lanes). The break calipers were completely rusted. Rust on rotors are okay cause of the environment (rain & humidity) but rust on calipers is a big red flag. One of the cars I started for a test drive, the engine sounded like the pistons or something were clanking against something another red flag. I don’t know how that even passed the Certified pre-​owned vehicle inspection.
Another big stickler is that their employees are driving the remaining TL vehicles that I wanted to see, that’s great that the employees drive them as their «Work Cars» but who knows how badly they’re beating the crap out of them, a legit perk of car salesmen. Acura has known this issue with their transmission since the first generation TL and they do not want to fix it. It doesn’t help that the employees are driving them around. It would have been nice that they had those couple extra cars on the lot that day.
At the end of the day, they’re friendly, but I won’t ever recommend anyone going to a dealership that doesn’t clean up the cars and fix some of that stuff. I don’t think they buy quality vehicles at the auction and they don’t update their website quick enough.
What a waste of time. Stay away from all dealerships off around Odgen (Skid Row). Go out to Woodfield, highland park, McGrath Morton Grove or elsewhere, I had amazing experiences everywhere else. I don’t like writing bad reviews but I had such an awful experience there, it sat at the back of my head for 3 weeks thinking that feeling would go away.
Update your website daily. Otherwise the next person this happens to and reads this, please file a complaint with the BBB for bait and switch practices.

It’s a shame that a quality car like an Acura can be sold by such a poor dealership. My interaction started with an inquiry on 3 used cars that I saw on their website. I provided 3 stock numbers directly from their website and asked if they were available. It took 3 emails to get a straight answer that they, in fact, were no longer available. Interestingly enough, even 2 weeks later, 2 of the 3 still show as available on the website — can you say «bait and switch» These of course were the lowest mileage cars in the specific model year.
I also found it amusing that I received an email allegedly from the sales manager asking about my experience. When I hit the reply button, I found that the return email address was the Internet sales manager that provided the poor customer service in the first place.
And with what looks like a track record of poor service and questionable sales tactics, you would think they would respond to the negative feedback.
Please join me in taking your business elsewhere.

I am in the market for a new car and had narrowed my selections down to an Acura RDX and another vehicle. So, on Saturday, September 21, 2013 we stopped in here. I will say that we were greeted rather quickly and taken indoors to a salesperson. Kelly was very nice, but the problems started when we tried to take a test drive.
The vehicle was brought to the front and parked near several sales people just standing and chatting AND surrounded by cars parked in various directions. As soon as I sat in the car I started to wheeze. I am extremely sensitive to smoke and someone had been smoking in the car. Even Kelly commented that she could smell it, too. So, I had to leave the door open, start the car, and open all the windows to try to get some fresh air. Then, no matter which way I turned, I did not feel comfortable trying to get the car out of that spot. I was afraid of hitting a person or another vehicle. Sorry, Kelly.
Then, walking back to our car, we passed the side door where an employee was leaning on the railing smoking a cigar. Seriously? What would a person’s car smell like after being here for service?
While test driving the other car we drove past and the car was still sitting in the same spot with all the windows open. Someone better have lost their job that day.
