Pitfire Artisan Pizza

5 stars for the employees, the food, the drinks, the sparkling clean seating area and especially the happy hour menu.
My kids and I were in the area and they wanted pizza so I did a quick Unilocal search and found this little gem. It’s a place where you order, pay, sit and they bring the food to you. Everything I ordered was from the Happy Hour menu except for the Linguini Bolognese. We ordered the following:
Linguini Bolognese ($ 11): it was made with spinach linguini. Huge portion, very tasty and there was a lot of meat. I totally recommend this dish.
Baked Mac & Cheese ($ 5): it was served in a small cup but it was still really filling. My daughter said that it was the best Mac & Cheese she has ever had.
Chicken Meatballs ($ 5): OMG!!! So good!!! It came with 3 pretty decent size meatballs. Everyone needs to get this dish.
Grilled Broccolini ($ 5): Under the Happy Hour menu and regular menu it was $ 5. So don’t order this if you’re there for the happy hour prices.
Pepperoni Pizza ($ 5): It was pretty small so I ordered 2. My son liked it a lot.
Conquista Malbec ($ 5): nice red wine, went well with the meatballs.
My kids definitely want to back again so I will make time to do so.

I went to college in Boston and the only pizza that I still dream of is Regina’s on Thatcher Street in the North End! I always tell anyone going to Boston to find time to visit there.
Now living in Westlake Village, I have finally find a pizza that matches Regina’s. Pitfire is my new favorite. I’ve had it three or four times in the past two weeks and could eat it every day. Really! The crust is crisp, not burned or chewed, the pepperoni is first rate, and the prices are reasonable. There are many locations, but Pitfire is my first choice now!

We were in the area and decided to give Pitfire a try for the first time since we had heard good things about this place. We walked in late on a Sunday night and they were not very busy. Many of the staff was eating their meals at different places throughout the restaurant. A girl came up to the register and helped walk us through the process. It seem very similar to the other types of pizzas that have popped up lately, maybe closer to MidiCi then anyone else. We were told that once we ordered at the register, the rest of our visit would be full service.
That’s where my experience went downhill. My wife ordered the garlic lemon soup with a pasta dish and I ordered their sausage pizza and added mushrooms. After a few minutes someone brought out our drinks along with plates, utensils and condiments. A couple of minutes after that she came back with my wife’s soup and pasta dish. About 4 – 5 minutes after that my pizza came out. I wish her soup came out with the first visit of food and her pasta dish with my pizza. I liked the look of the crust when it came out, but was very disappointed with the lack of toppings. There were a few pieces of sausage and maybe 6 – 8 pieces of mushrooms. The pizza was cut into 4 pieces, and I wish they were smaller, since I think it would have been easier to eat. The first few bites were very soggy, but the crust was very good towards the edges of the pizza. I wish the middle was as good.
I am not sure why they stated it would be full service once we sat down, yes they brought out our meal, but that was it for the rest of our visit. We wanted refills on our drinks, and I finally walked up to the bar and waited for an employee to come up. She apologized, and stated she would bring our refills back to us.
While we were finishing our dinner I smell a strong chemical smell. One of the staff members was cleaning the tables in the dining room with a spray bottle of some solution that made the entire restaurant smell like the chemical he was using. That is one of the worst things you can do, in my opinion, while diners are eating. We sat there for a few minutes talking with our dirty plates and once we decided to get up is when someone came to clear our plates.
Yes it was late into their evening and close to them going home, but I felt we didn’t get the level of service as we would have received if we came during their rush out, but who knows. I’m not sure I would go back with so many other choices for this style of pizza.

Can’t get enough of this place. Everything I’ve had was great. Whatever you order it promise you will enjoy It. Great lemonade great beer great food

This past Tuesday, 5÷17÷16… A friend and I ate at your restaurant… Andrew took really great care of us, he is otherwise knowns as Adub we’re told.
The food was very good; although, when we added asparagus to our pizza… we expected more than one spear! Your crew quickly made that right. Thank you.

Great pastas, pizza and a small bar where you can just back and watch a game.
Great friendly service all the time we are there and also love their chocolate chip cookies!

Okay, the second time was the charm! My husband and I had dinner here and brought our dog with and the three of us had a blast. This place was very happening with a live band playing in the patio. The food and service were also excellent. We had the chicken meatballs appetizer, steak salad, and the chicken and mushroom pasta. The portions are great & each dish had great flavor. The prices are also very reasonable for the amount of quality ingredients they provide in each dish. On top of all that, our dog Bella had a fantastic time and was spoiled by the servers with lots of love and treats! We will definitely have more family outings at Pitfire!

Love love LOVE this place. My kiddos (12,6,6) love the food and the clay keeps them busy while we wait for the food. Our favorites are the kids pizzas (add sausage for one) and the Special K Mac and Cheese. We love the secret menu. Who doesn’t love a place with a secret menu, right??? The salads are the bomb… seriously everything is awesome! Love the new Seasonal Sangria too.

My honey brought home pizza and salad from Pitfire last night and it hit the spot. It’s a joint, make no mistake, this is not fine dining or fine food, but as pizza joints go, it’s on the better side with a variety of options and he really liked it. I enjoyed the kale salad, it was chopped hard like it should be. We had a pizza as well and it was extremely salty, so I might not go for their red sauce again, but other than that it was good with arugula and hazelnuts. The pasta was also salty, if they toned down the sodium, I think it would be a shoe in 4 star for me.

We shared the linguine bolognese and a pepperoni, mushroom pizza. Plenty for two people. It was delicious, the staff was super friendly and attentive. They have a cool bar and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Pets are welcome on the patio.
We are definitely going back.

5 star service. The workers here are very nice, efficient, quick, and on top of it. The second my water was finished, they were right there to refill. Various other workers came throughout the meal to check-​in and make sure everything was ok. All were very pleasant and accommodating.
The food was good. I ordered the margherita pizza. It was $ 10, or $ 10.75 after tax. The crust came slightly burnt, the sauce was adequate, and the cheese was good. Overall for the price, it may or may not be worth it. The food was good, but I’m not sure if I’ll be back.
The ambiance/​environment was good. They have a big outdoor patio that wraps around the restaurant. It was a nice place to relax and enjoy a meal. They do have beer.

Great place, friendly service from genuine people, large outdoor seating, yummy food and cold beer; what more can you ask for? You can tell by the way the staff interacts that they are a close team and truly happy being there.

I liked this place, but I didn’t love it. Pitfire is very open and spacious, and the menu looked promising. However, the food was uneven, and I’m learning that when things are titled «artisan,» no matter where they are made, flavor is often a missing commodity. Here, some of the dishes had flavor, and some didn’t. What I liked, I really liked… like the chicken meatball appetizer, but my soup and the pizza, not so much.
The chicken meatballs were big, light and packed with flavor, including a fresh tomato marinara sauce. It comes 3 to a serving, so my husband, daughter and I each took one. Definitely enjoyed it.
Then, I ordered a cup of the lemon garlic chicken soup. The title alone suggested all kinds of promise, but when I tasted it, I kid you not, I thought it was water. No flavor at all. I saw lots of wonderful, very fresh ingredients to the tune of chicken, pasta, (what appeared to be) kale that they called «braising greens,» and (allegedly) fennel herb soup broth. Sounds wonderful, and yet I tasted NO lemon, NO garlic, and no fennel… or anything else, for that matter. I added parmesan cheese and salt, which then brought the soup to life. Not sure I was able to resurrect the desired flavors, but it was good enough to consume, and then, the chicken had some flavor, along with the other ingredients. I don’t know what that was all about with the total lack of flavor. I really don’t.
My husband had their chopped salad with chicken. Everything looked fresh and appealing, decent size, but wasn’t as large as I would have liked for an entrée size salad… but he liked it and ate it, As long as he was happy with his choice, it didn’t much matter what I thought of it.
Then, we ordered the fennel sausage pizza, which had fontina and mozzarella cheeses… not sure it had 2 different cheeses to be honest, but that’s what the menu said. I just tasted «cheese,» but not enough on there for me to know if there were 2 kinds, or if just one, which one. There definitely was tomato sauce on it, but it wasn’t seasoned beyond the natural tomato flavor (at least to me), and there were maybe 8 pieces (2 to a slice) of the sausage… don’t get me started on that… let’s just say HARDLY ENOUGH for a 10.5 inch diameter worth of pizza. A bit chinsy, I’d say. The sausage had flavor, so yeah, I would have liked to have more of the flavor from it. Then the crust… the dough was made well, but I don’t know… it was the artisanal version of pizza dough, and I didn’t care for it. It had a sturdier texture, and it was way too crunchy for me (maybe overbaked, not sure to be honest… it just wasn’t my favorite, so I ate the toppings and left the dough (don’t need to be eating it anyway). My daughter ordered the chicken pesto pizza, and while I didn’t try it, she really liked it.
Lastly, I ordered a glass of their red wine sangria. I saw a huge pitcher of it sitting at the door when we first walked in, and it just looked so inviting with all the fresh fruit sitting in there. Unfortunately, it wasn’t my favorite… again, it wasn’t horrible, just not the best.
So, I’d say overall, Pitfire had some good dishes and some mediocre. I still have my concerns over these «artisan» type places; they may just not be my cup ‘o tea is all. I certainly won’t say bad… nothing was bad, just some dishes weren’t as good as they could have been… and we’ll leave it at that. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they have potential. Will I go back? Probably not on my own, but if my daughter wants to go, sure, I’ll go. I’d probably order different dishes and would definitely attempt to negotiate certain menu changes.

Nice place and good pizzas. Had a Greens, Egg and Ham pizza on gluten free crust. Very good! My wife had a pizza hand made to her taste. She liked it. Had to this a glass of mediocre red wine, ok, but too expensive for what you are getting. Still, will probably return, mainly because of the gluten-​free option and possibility to design a custom pizza.

Excellent service and the food was served very quickly.
We had the Buretta pizza, arrugala and buretta cheese with peanuts and olive oil, so good, we also had fire grilled broccoli with panko bread crumbs lemon and some olive oil delicious, also had spring green salad with Italian dressing and lemon, …also lemon chicken noodle with spinach soup with grilled sourdough bread.
everything was delicious. The waiters were delightful
we were very well taken care of! It was a great meal
Very yummy, oh and our friend had a gluten free green eggs and ham, thin two eggs and prosciutto broccolini
And burretta cheese delicious too!

I’ve been to the location in North Hollywood & excited I found out this is the closest one in the 805!
Verdict:
Baked mac & cheese: delicious! the bread crumbs go well with the topped creamy sauce.
Chicken & Mushroom Cavatappi: I love mushroom anything, just the combination of the chicken, garlic cream, arugula, & parmesan make it flavorful.
Ambience:
Casual, dine in or out, take out, deliver, & full bar. Modern-​like feel, sports bar type, but a family & friendly vibe all in one. They had a trivia game going on where one of the ladies asked questions for you to win something from the restaurant. Voluntary participation. I also like how you can watch & see the chefs at the kitchen cook your food. They’re behind a clear glass & you can visually see how they do the works.
As you enter in, they have menus on a stand for you to grab, you order up at the front, they give you a number to set on the table, & they deliver your food to you. If you ask for water, they put it in a clean glass milk bottle for you to pour in your own glass. I also ordered a red sangria & that got me good! So good that my food was too good!
Next time, I’d like to come back & try their pumpkin pizza & fire-​grilled eggplant pizza! When I wanted to try those in the North Hollywood location, it wasn’t seasonal & was told it was one of their popular dishes.

The place is kind of set up like an Italian Mendocino Farms the way you order. Very clean with lots of seating
Still suffering from Thanksgiving weekend I wanted to eat a little lighter than normal and ordered a cup of Italian lemon chicken soup and the chicken meatballs which both came with grilled bread
The soup was light and very nice with a good amount of vegetables, pasta and chicken in each spoonful
The chicken meatballs were very good. No dry but moist. Each ball was a good size and topped with a tasty red sauce
Others had pizza such as green eggs and ham and traditional ones which they all enjoyed

While I do prefer the value of all of the create your own pizza places, I do appreciate the variety here as well as the the quality of the ingredients.
The menu changes which I like and the service is great.
Prices are a bit high, but the value is there.
I really like the salads as well as the pizza here and usually get both taking some home for later.
Service was very nice and our food came out quickly, cooked perfectly and presented nicely.
Casually elegant vibe, simple but nice vibe, would return.

Came here to grab a slice of pizza with friends and was definitely impressed. It’s just a casual pizza place, but they over deliver in every aspect: food, service, and ambiance. Here’s the breakdown:
Service:
You order at the register and your food is brought to your table. Typically that kind of set up doesn’t really give the opportunity to showcase good service. Not the case here. We constantly had someone coming by to check on us and everyone had a positive and friendly attitude. They even brought my dog a bowl of water without us asking.
Ambiance:
Very casual; it is a pizza place in a strip mall after all. They up the ante with romantic market lights outside and an open floor plan indoors.
Food:
The pizza is awesome! We got the burrata and mushroom and both were so good that I couldn’t stop eating way after being super full. Both also passed my test of a good pizza, being just as delicious the next morning for breakfast!
Surprisingly, what stood out to me just as much as their pizza was their veggies! They have a huge selection of salads and roasted veggies. We got the house salad (super big for a house salad and topped with yummy cheese), broccolini, cauliflower, and farmers market plate. The farmers market plate was awesome!!! It’s always different based on what’s in season, but I got cabbage, pumpkin, and brussel sprouts in mine. Each veggie was so flavorful, fresh, and delicious. I’d actually go back just for that plate!!! And I ate way less pizza than usual thanks to those amazing roasted veggies. I really could get addicted that pumpkin…
Oh and they have a full bar. Really what more could you want from your neighborhood pizza place?

Great thin and bubbly crust. As I often do for pizza, I order veggie pizza and add pepperoni (can’t help it, gotta do it). Pitfire has plenty of great veggie toppings if you want to build your own, a lot of special pizzas of the day with great summer squash or seasonal items, and several delicious gourmet, high-​quality, meats.
What I’ve found (and I’ve been to other Pitfire locations, and I’ve tried a half dozen types), the Mushroom pizza and add sausage, is in my opinion, the best they’ve got. The size is about 10−12″ (a medium), slightly more than one can eat, cut into 4 pieces, but perhaps, too small to share. And, best yet, priced right at around $ 11.
This place is very hip. This artisian-​type thing is way cool, and I like the vibe at this location. Open and colorful and industrial inside, and the L-​shape patio is great outside. Hipster, and very Portland-​esque. I like the open kitchen.
It’s one of the three great pizzas in the area, the other two: Barone’s and Al Mulino’s. Counter service gal was terrific.
I’ll definitely be back for some more.
