Fiancée and I usually hit this place up once a week! Every sandwich we’ve ever received has been fantastic; off the top of my head we’ve had the reuben, chicken salad, panko chicken, shrimp po boy, and the lamb pita(gyro). All have been wonderful! It does take a little time to make your order if you just show up, but like the sign in the place says, «good food takes time,» or something similar! Fries are great. Onion rings are great. I myself didn’t care for their potato salad but that’s just me. If you say«bite me» you’ll get a free taste of one of their cheesecake bites, which are delicious! It’s a gem in the wall that you would never expect, so give it a try!

Haven’t been here in a while but the ruben sandwich was not as good as the first few times I’ve had it. It was a lot saltier than I remember. The cook was nice and took care of our orders, so satisfied with that. I may or may not be back. Perhaps the next time I’m craving a pastrami sandwich, which is when I’m willing to give it a try again.

Tried both the shrimp po boy and the walleye. BOTHAREAMAZING!!! Portions are huge. The shrimp po boy has deliciously crisp flavorful shrimp with a crab and lobster spread on a fresh bun. The walleye was very fresh and tasty. So big it hung off the bun! The hand cut fries arefresh, crisp, and delicious!

This was one of my bookmarks that I’ve been wanting to try for some time. Well folks I finally did it. It’s in a non-descriptive strip mall and their sign doesn’t do them any good as we drove right on by because we couldn’t make out their sign. Ugh. We were the only ones when we walked in and were not initially greeted but rather stood there feeling awkward because no one was there. I made the usual throat sounds and finally someone said they’d be with us shortly. We were then greeted by the owner and he was very perfunctual with us. However I ordered the Italian sub and my hubby ordered the Ham and cheese. We both chose to share the fresh cut fries. This is a small Mom and Pop operation so if you’re in a hurry this isn’t for you. They make everything fresh and made to order soooo peeps avoid this place if you don’t have time to enjoy the experience. They make all their meats and sauces themselves and it shows in the quality of the product they deliver. I can’t speak to the naysayers in the reviews but my experience with the quality of their meats definitely were not fatty IMO they must be haters because everything was top notch. Yup we will be back and we will tell everyone we know what this little hole in the wall offers!

As a big fan of the Reuben sandwich, I was genuinely excited to try this place. Having tried Katzinger’s and Brown Bag Deli, I was really hoping to find a new Columbus gem that would save me from taking the trip downtown. Unfortunately, my experience was very average. The owner seemed to run all the operations, and while he wasn’t mean. he wasn’t exactly very warm either. The sandwich was solid(bit overpriced/not worth $ 10), and I could not taste the house sauce. After eating it, I could only really describe the taste as bland. I also tried the cheesecake bites, which were OK(tried the Reese’s and raspberry). For the price and quality, I will definitely stick with my Downtown Columbus staples.

Surely the best sandwiches in Columbus. Chicken salad and Ruben were awesome. Don’t forget to say bite me for special treat.

Food was AWFUL… shrimp po’ boy flavorless, Reubens fatty and gave my husband and his mom very upset digestive systems. Potato salad dull, chicken wings very greasy. The man running the place was very nice, but the food was horrible and we will never return… quite a disappointment after reading nice Unilocal reviews.

Service: Please take off your oily gloves when you handle my credit card so that I don’t need to wipe it. Food: I’ve tried pastrami and reuben sandwich, and they are both as good as Katzinger’s. No reason to drive all the way down to German village any more for a good sandwich. Price: $ 9.50 for a sandwich? It used to be $ 7.50; more than 25% price increase in a year while my salary increase was 2.5%. Overall: Expensive-and-tasty is not special at all. I would give 5 stars and go this place more often if pastrami and reuben sandwich were priced $ 7.50 even though my credit card got oily every time.

My fiancée and I came here based on the reviews from the sandwich email. I would say they certainly make a good sandwich. Not the best I’ve ever had but worth coming. We split the Italian and a Meatball sub. The wait time is likely because I think they slice their meat fresh, which was apparent by the quality of the meat on the sandwich. Overall it’s a nice place with plenty of indoor seating and two tables outside. I’m not a fan of places with canned drinks especially since $ 1 for a can is a little pricey. The sandwiches come with pasta salad, coleslaw, or potato salad. The pasta salad just tasted like olive oil but my fiancée liked the coleslaw. The other sides seemed a little pricey, $ 3.50 for fries, but we didn’t try so can’t comment if they would be worth it.

Really Unilocal? This was recommended in your sandwich email!!! My friend & I just dumped over half our meals in the trash. First, from a sanitation point, the guy had on a pair of gloves, wrote down our order, made our food, sneezed twice, took another order, finished making our food, checked someone out at the register & then went back to making the next order, all wearing the same gloves. The meat slicer, conveniently located by counter where you order had old dried meat remenants laying all over the cutter & needs a good scrubbing to come up to health code standards. The trash must not have been emptied for a day or 2 because gnats came flying out when we threw away our lunch. Crumbs on most tables. As for service, we were the only 2 people in the restaurant when we ordered. We sat down & waited. After 10 minutes, 2 more people came in & ordered. They received their order within minutes while we still waited. The were finished and were leaving when we finally received our order. Not good customer service practice. For the food, the Italian subs we ordered were bland and the meat was riddled with fatty, chewy strands all the way throughout. I think there was fennel on the subs but not sure since it was the tough, base root of the bulb that turned Brown. The potato salad was nothing but tasteless potatoes, mayo, shredded cheese & Dill. Dill was the only thing I tasted. My friend had the pasta salad, no better with olive oil as the only flavor and of course topped with dill. I would NOT recommend this place. Based upon my first experience, I will not be back and honestly don’t know how this place has received so many 5 star ratings.

At long last I’ve found my perfect Reuben in Central Ohio. Since moving to this part of town this place has been on the top of my «to try’ list from all the great things I’ve read on Unilocal and elsewhere. Just as others have said this is a owner operated deli but where most delis serve up everything from Sysco/Food Service bags this place is truly the exception. Almost everything is made in-house, from the wonderfully rich pastrami to the pungent sauerkraut and so much more. This place is dominated by a huge kitchen/grill/deli counter. You place your order at the counter, grab your own bottled/canned drinks and await the sammich of your dreams. I got here after the lunch hour crowd and didn’t have to wait long for my order to be brought out to my table. The Reuben, served with a Dill pickle spear was hot, fresh and massively meaty, grilled on spiral rye with the house sauce, it will now be my fortnightly addiction. A huge ½ order of the house cut shoestring fries served with malt vinegar topped off this lunch like a Boss. Paid for my order on the way out and got a chance to talk to the owner who was friendly, outgoing and in one trip made this one my new favourites close to my new home. Just don’t be expecting white cloth table service, while the food is outstanding you won’t be going here for ambiance. If you are looking for delicious, made from scratch eats you won’t go wrong here and I for one, look forward to working my way through the menu.

Unfortunately it seems my family(four adults) visited on an off day. Considering the multitude of positive reviews, we will probably return, but I think it is fair to share our experience. On a rainy Saturday full of running erronds we decide a pick-me up was in order and drove over to Cataland Kizina. The woman working the counter was so very friendly and clearly eager to do right, but she was also new. This point is only of note because she wrote our ticket in such a way that our order along with others became confused. Drinks included water bottles for $ 1 and cans of pop. The fridge in which they were stored was currently not cold. I do not mind room temperature water, but cups of ice were offered to those who requested. It seems the owner was the only one prepping and cooking so the two were a bit in the weeds. We admired his head-down, one step at a time, get the food out attitude. And to the new server he called this her«baptism by fire.» But we watched at least three take out orders being made when the individuals arrived. And thus our own wait grew to an hour. When the turkey breast, meatball and steak sandwiches arrived my fish tacos were missing as was our order of fries to share. Not to worry, he quickly fired the fish and brought it out with the fries rather than the requestd potato salad. Ticket confusion happens, but my family had pretty much devoured their meals while I waited so I ate these deliciously hot fair style fries myself. As for the food, we were all pretty happy. The two fish tacos had a definite kick with a good amount of fish and slaw. Maybe it was the wait, the cold meatball, and the uncold pop, but prices seemed a tad high considering sides are al la carte. But it is a local family owned establishment that cares about quality so I mind less. Overall, a place we would recommend and try again with hope of raising the star.

Very nice little place in sort if an odd location. Owner was super helpful & very personable. Food was great(Chicken Salad sandwich, Italian sub & Turkey sandwich) can’t wait to come on a Friday for seafood items. Mini cheesecake bites offered as we paid were amazing! Will definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place after using Unilocal to find a nearby restaurant when we were housesitting. The average rating impressed us so we stopped by. We ordered at 2:00 pm on a Saturday and were the only ones in the store: 1) chicken salad sandwich with pasta salad 2) Breaded chicken breast sandwich with pasta salad 3) Order of hand cut French fries 4) 8″ pepperoni with ½ banana peppers pizza to go Our sandwiches arrived at 2:09, really fast! I can understand it taking a while at other times because the staff is small(only 1 guy when we went) so I think calling ahead is the best bet if you want the fastest service during busy times. But anyway, my chicken salad sandwich was fresh, tasted like good quality meat, had so much on the sandwich that it was falling out the back every bite I took(this is a good thing, it was like a second meal after I finished my sandwich!). My only complaint is it was a little bland for my taste(I usually like it with grapes or extra seasoning), but after I added salt it was much tastier. My boyfriends breaded chicken breast sandwich came out so hot and fresh. I took a bite and it was also delicious. The piece of chicken was large, the bread was toasted perfectly and the cheese melted nicely. Our fries didn’t show up(I think he forgot?) so I asked him if he could put them in the to go box with the pizza, which was fine. But if we weren’t ordering some food to go, it would have been poor service to never get our fries. The prices here are awesome for the serving size. I like that it’s a small family owned business and that the ingredients are so fresh and cooked with love! We will definitely be back to try other things in the future.

I would give them 5 stars because they work really hard at this mom and pop shop, and also because they serve fresh-cut fries. I knocked off a star only because I didn’t love my meal that I paid $ 12 and drove out of the way for. That being said, if I lived or worked closer, I would absolutely return to get a fish sandwich that I’m sure I would love more than the shrimp po boy sandwich I ordered thanks to the reviews and pictures on Unilocal. They did nothing wrong, but my taste buds didn’t jive with the sandwich today. I’d like to emphasize they do a really good job here and are super nice. :-)

There is nothing bad I can say about this place. Nothing. It’s soooooo worth the drive from Clintonville. This place is a bit deceiving. It’s in a strip mall – who would have guessed. It’s totally unassuming – but I’ll be darned – it’s serving some of the best sandwiches in Columbus. They are closed Monday’s and Tuesday’s – it’s their weekend. They take these days to make their own in-house corned beef, pastrami, and other meats. So if you want to take ½ lb of deli meat home with you, be sure to call a week in advance. I have yet to remember to do this, but it is on my to-do list for the next time I head that direction. The 1st time I was there I loved my fried oyster Po’ Boy sandwich. Every bite was deliciousness-lots of oysters. A few minutes after I got my sandwich the chef dropped by the table and asked how we liked everything and asked if I wanted to try«The Rockefeller Sauce.» I was intrigued so I said, «sure!» This magical little sauce rocketed my sandwich onto a whole new level of greatness. I would for sure order it again. The 2nd time I went I had a pastrami Reuben. It’s a Reuben sandwich with all the features of a Reuben but instead of being decked out with corned beef I subbed pastrami instead. Oh my – I took a picture and posted it on Unilocal.Yes, it was as wonderful as it looked and then some. The sides are okay, the sandwiches are the real stars. This place is super casual, they don’t offer fountain sodas and I wish they did. You can grab a can out of the fridge if you’d like. Like other’s have said be sure to say«bite me» at some point during your visit for a mini sized cheesecake bite. They really are delicious and I prefer to have it for dessert after my meal than before, but to each their own. All this to say, this place has great food and it’s worth the drive. First time here, I’d start with the Pastrami Reuben-it is so darn good.

Ok, we were back again the next night. Our pizza was made with the wrong topping. The owners could not have been more apologetic. How could I be upset when they squeezed in my order to be ready in 15min, during a big dinner rush. They asked me to wait for a corrected free pizza. I offered to just take the mistake pizza for free. It had the cracker crust I requested. The sauce had great fresh taste, but I always want more sauce. The cheese was stretchy and REAL. I’ll get it again with extra sauce.

The owner is very nice and friendly. I went late in the evening. I live in New Albany and it was only 5 minutes away. There wasn’t a line or wait. He gave me a free sample of the cheesecake bites. They were delicious and I bought four more. I ordered the pastrami on marble rye with mustard and pasta salad to go. It was delicious. The pastrami was flavorful and not too salty. I was told everything was made in house.

I went to this place on a whim last night, and it was pretty frickin’ awesome! After being dragged along to shoe shop at Easton with the girlfriend, I was trying to think of a place nearby that I hadn’t checked out. Luckily, it was Wednesday and Cataland Kuzina was open until 10 pm. It’s in New Albany, but it turned out to only be 10 minutes away from the mall, so it was perfect. We lucked out when we got there, because no one else was in the place. After talking with the owner and another employee, it seems like we lucked out, and it’s usually packed Thursday-Sunday. Both of them were so nice, and let us try the pastrami and even gave us each a cheesecake bite to sample! We had the caramel macchiato and a peanut butter and chocolate, and I probably could have eaten the whole tray, but I needed I wanted some meat. We decided to split a pastrami Reuben and an Italian sub with potato salad on the side, and they came out rather quickly. The reuben was piping hot, so I had the potato salad first, and it was amazing. It had quite a bit of dill in it, and anything with dill is great in my book. The Italian was pretty darn good. The bread was fantastic. Not the greatest Italian sub I’ve ever had, but I would still order it again. The reuben, on the other hand, was fantastic. Just like everyone else has said before me, the bread was great, the sauce was flavorful, and the hot pastrami was amazing. I could probably just eat it by itself and be happy. The staff was so friendly and talkative, and the food was so good, so I’ll definitely be stopping back. I just wish I was closer!
