Dr. Joseph E. Kizior received his doctor of dental surgery with honors from Loyola University Dental School — Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Kizior also completed an advanced specialty program at Loyola University receiving a Master of Science degree in oral biology and a certificate of specialty in orthodontics. The research program Dr. Kizior worked on concentrated on the sensory (pain) receptors in the ligament that surrounds the roots of the teeth. The findings were published in the journal of Dental Research, titled, «The Sensory Receptors of the Periodontal Ligament», and they have clinical orthodontic applications to this day.

After receiving this specialty license, Dr. Kizior started his private practice. Shortly after that, he received an appointment as clinical professor in orthodontics at Loyola University. This enabled him to be familiar with the latest research and treatment techniques in orthodontics.
