Dig Right In Landscaping Inc

I was excited at the possibility of working with this company after reading the great reviews. I contacted them and heard back quickly saying they’d love to help. After giving my address however, they backtracked and said they couldn’t help because they only do bigger projects. I Wish they had mentioned this on their website. It’s hard to find organic Lawn care and so this was a big disappointment.

We hired them to do our lawn service this past season. Our lawn looked great. I love their organic approach. Thus two stars instead of one. But there is much I didn’t like. They would not tell us ahead of time when they were coming out to do some of the bigger jobs, like core aeration, and thus our gate was locked. When I called to complain, first the office manager insisted they had done it. When I sent photos to show it obviously hadn’t been done in the back due to the visibly compacted condition of the soil, she told me that wasn’t proof. When I asked how they could have done it if our gate was locked, She huffily told me that if customers keep their gate locked, they are not to blame! I guess that means it is a customer’s job to either have ESP or keep your gate unlocked all season. Then I said if they had done it, they did a horrible job. At that point she said we wouldn’t be charged if I wasn’t satisfied. A plus in their favor. Other issues: they almost never left stickers on the door indicating they had been there to do some work, even though they had said this was their policy; although our contract was for the front and back lawn, I gave up on having them do the back, since our gate was kept locked and who knew when they were coming. But our price was never adjusted for their doing only half the work. When I paid our last bill over the phone with my credit card, I was charged a fee, though I hadn’t been told this would happen. When I called to cancel and said I’d pay by check instead, the office manager said she «didn’t know» if she could cancel (it had been less than an hour since the transaction) and would notify me later in the day about the result. She never got back to me. Final insult, although I never asked for a fall cleanup and even called to let them know I didn’t want that, we were just billed $ 350 for one.

This is the first time I’ve used Unilocal to right a review, normally I can go with the flow with most things but I’ve been really disappointed with Dig Right In. We had landscaping done with them about 4 years ago when we had a friend who was a landscape designer and worked for them at the time. I love the work that they originally did while my friend was involved with the design. Unfortunately, over the years I have found them incredibly difficult to schedule seasonal clean-​ups. I thought I would try yet again this year. I began asking about quotes from them for a spring clean in April. After getting an initial quote, I needed to follow up to get additional information to include mulch in the quote. It took over a full week to get a response and, even then, it was me reaching out to them to find out what the status was on the request. Recently, I’ve had to ask (twice) to see where we were at with trying to schedule the actual clean-​up. When I asked to get a date I was told that I needed to sign the contract first before they would give me a date (or even a date RANGE) and then was advised that my date would be «pushed out further» because other customers had signed their contracts. I told them I didn’t want to sign a contract for service when I had no clue when that service would take place. Sure enough, when I asked to find out how much it would be «pushed out» I was told that there were 58 other customers ahead of me and that they are able to do about 10 – 15 cleanings a week. So… it would be about 4 – 5 weeks out for a «spring» clean up. At that point I might as well just schedule my Fall clean up. I feel like if they had responded to me in a more timely fashion about the quotes I could have both made a decision faster and signed their contract. Instead, I was made to feel like I had to constantly follow up with them to see if they even wanted my business and, at the end of the day, they made it pretty clear that they didn’t.

Incredibly helpful. We worked with Jeff and Freyja to address drainage issues in our backyard. They installed a rain garden and did additional landscaping around the yard and it looks beautiful. They listened to our concerns and were and still are very responsive. Worth the money for incredibly competent, professional and talented landscapers.

I had my front and back yard professionally landscaped a while ago, but over the last several years neglected the upkeep and ended up with a hot mess. I needed heavy weeding (more like attack with a machete), mulch and some sod replacement.
I called Dig Right In based on their high Unilocal rating. Jeff Swano was prompt, courteous and gave me a dollar estimate that actually ended up being lower on the final bill. Needless to say, I’m extremely pleased. And their prices on regular upkeep are so good that I’m actually considering getting weekly lawn service again. Let’s put it this way, when fall and spring roll around, I’ll be handing them the machete instead of doing it myself.

Fantastic service! I worked with Freyja on designing the space in our backyard. She was very knowledgeable, punctual, nice, and just a real pleasure to work with! We had flower landscaping, a rain barrel and 3 raised vegetable garden beds installed. The workers were efficient and very clean (I didn’t have to pick up anything after they finished the job!). Freyja is always willing to answer my questions as I’m getting more comfortable with tending to the plants and flowers.
I HIGHLY recommend Dig Right In. They are a great company to work for and they do an incredible job at landscaping!
