Safelite AutoGlass

Needed a full windshield replacement for my 2014 4Runner. Scheduled a mobile appt, the tech that arrived realized he had been given the wrong windshield– the one he had would not have matched the factory feature of heated defrost. He apologized and we rescheduled for another day. Came 2 days later, on time, told me what to expect and was done an hour later. Went over do’s & don’t, etc. Thomas was super nice, very professional. Very pleased. **The true test will be when it rains, etc. If I have zero issues going fwd, will bump up to 5 stars!

DON’T GO TO SAFELITE WEST NEWTON. I had a terrible experience. You will waste your time, your money, and risk losing resale value on your vehicle. I developed a crack in my windshield and was referred to them by GEICO. You DO NOT have to use Safelite. Within a few hours of the replacement, I was hearing wind whistling on/​thru the glass, and then the black molding started flapping around and was clearly not attached properly. And actually when I looked up close it looked like they had selected a molding that was the wrong size for my vehicle — a 2011 Nissan Rogue. I spoke with Don at Village Glassmith in Needham, who has stellar reviews — and I wish I had gone to him. He is so helpful and customer friendly. It’s likely that my car needs original molding specifically designed for the Rogue. Safelite seems to use cheap, after-​market stuff and they don’t check to make sure it’s the correct product for your vehicle.
Not only will I never use Safelite again, I will be canceling my policy with Geico. They’re both cheap, and couldn’t give a damn if customers get the service they deserve. Not to mention the lost income for the hours I spent out of the office.

All around poor experience… I had my appointment scheduled for which I took work off only to arrive and find out the wrong glass was ordered. I then re scheduled to have them come to my home. They told me about a week for glass to arrive. 3 weeks passed and nobody called me. When I finally called to see what was happening they said it just arrived and so they made me an appointment. Upon arrival to my home the technicians installed the glass, only to find out wrong glass again. Yes the second time they ordered the wrong glass. This is a glass company right? A couple weeks later the correct glass was finally ordered and installed. The following day it began to rain very badly and my wipers didn’t work. So I had to make an appointment at the car dealer and take work off again. They said the wipers were put back on incorrectly with the glass replacement. I can’t make this stuff up. Glass professionals? No way. They said I would receive a survey — never did! So I went to their website and filed a complaint. Nobody ever got back to me. It couldn’t have been a worst experience. I won’t be using them again.

I had a small chip, about the size of a nickel, in the lower corner of my windshield caused from a rock hitting it. Although the chip was not in my line of site what-​so-​ever I knew I should have it repaired so it wouldn’t spread. I called my insurance company and they set up an appointment for me with safelight. Safelight was scheduled to come to my place of work to repair it between 8am-​12pm. I received a message early in my time window that the technician was running late and would be there between 12 – 2. Then at 3:30 he showed up and repaired my windshield and that was that. Two days later I got into my vehicle and noticed I now have a crack about 14 inches long! I called my insurance company and they conferenced in a safelight customer service person. I explained that I understood there was no guarantee on the repair but only lasting 2 days is a little ridiculous. I would have been better off not repairing it and taking my chances. They apologized and stated again that there was no guarantee and quoted me for a new windshield of $ 499 and change. No thank you! I called Portland Glass and set up to have my windshield replaced for $ 357.

My windshield had cracked when a pebble hit it on the highway. I was hesitant for multiple reasons 1) never had to replace a windshield before 2) this was a company that was recommended by my insurance company. All things made me wary.
They offer in-​shop or mobile replacement, but I live in an apartment and they do not do mobile replacements on the street. My in-​shop experience was excellent. I arrived and was unsure of whether to pull in or park in their lot. They said they would move my car for me and directed me to the waiting area. The facility was clean and the staff was welcoming. Windshield replacements are 90 minute appointments because they need the seal to set for 45 minutes. They were right on time, and I was surprised to notice that when they brought me to my car that they had cleaned the windows, dashboard and vacuumed it! Thanks Safelite!

Came here after a got a crack in my windshield. My insurance covered the replacement, so I paid nothing for the actual installation (my insurance has Safelite handle all the windshield claims).
I had quick service, but I realized quick meant a poor job done. My windshield was leaking and soaked my car’s paneling inside. I was pissed, but I understand that it happens. So I go to get it fixed, they realize how the mistake was made, great.
Two weeks later, a huge rainstorm comes in, water is pouring down near my gas/​brake pedals. I was extremely pissed and annoyed considering now I have to waste my time yet again to get this problem fixed. Also, my car will now probably suffer water damage because all the wiring in my car was soaked and water was spilling out of my car’s dashboard buttons. I will never go to this place again.
Luckily I have great insurance who called Safelite on behalf of me, and literally screamed at how awful the service was. I will be getting this next leaky windshield fixed at a different Safelite location.

My windshield was hit by a rock and had a 12″ crack; it needed to be replaced. Geico «conveniently» set up an appointment for me with Safelite, which at the time seemed so fantastic that I didn’t have to call another company and coordinate date/​time/​install. My service window for the mobile (aka. at home) install was from 3−5pm, estimated to take 90m-​2h.
I received an email the morning of the installation explaining that «Michael» was my service technician and that I would receive a phone call before his arrival. Nope. No call, no text, no explanation and no f***ing consideration for someone who takes the day off work to get their windshield fixed.

I wish I asked for the name of the man who helped me when I got there but he was average height with short brown hair and a little bit of a beard. He was very nice and quickly told me how long it would take and where their waiting room was. The appointment only took 1 hour (I think it was a slow day for them) and I was quickly on my way. He also let me know that they had vacuumed the inside of my car when finished and had remounted my GPS on my new windshield AND he gave me velcro adhesives for my EAZY-​pass. Simple things but it was very nice of him.

So fast and friendly! I had Catherine, Tech ID# 1851 – 997, repair my windshield and she did an awesome job. Vacuumed and cleaned my windows as well! So awesome.

I had two small chips in my windshield that I wanted fixed. My insurance company set me up with Safelite, and since I was going to be out of the country the following day, I arranged for them to come to my home to fix the chips. They showed up, they left, and then sent me a satisfaction survey in my email. When I got back to the US a couple months later, I picked up my car and the cracks were still there. So basically, they did nothing during the appointment. I didn’t even bother calling them up and asking about it because it’s so ridiculous, so I just went somewhere else.

My experience with Safelite was great. I had a cracked windshield, so I scheduled an appointment here through my insurance. I found out when I got there that it was bigger than I thought, and we’d need to do a replacement. They rescheduled for me and I just got back from the second appointment. The windshield looks great, they cleaned my windows and interior, and they gave me a discount.
Nice people and efficient work.

Amazing help all the way through. An incredibly spacious and accommodating waiting room (probably the nicest I’ve ever seen) helps time fly, with a window overlooking the garage bay so you can watch your progress. Every single colleague was personable and went in great detail about the process of replacing my windshield. I usually hate mechanics or anything remotely related to car repairs, but I would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat in need of window repairs. No BS – just quality work and service. And it’s as simple as that.

They did a good job quickly. They even charged my insurance company directly so I wouldn’t have to pay up front.

I had a cracked windshield, a huge crack at that, so I filed my claim and my insurance company suggested this place. I’m very glad they did at that. I made an appointment right away for 8am on a Friday and from the moment I got there to the moment I left everyone was extremely nice, professional and efficient.
They have a nice waiting room with free Wifi and coffee/​tea and TV, and they got the work done in an hour when the estimated time they quoted me was 90 minutes to 2.5 hours.
I’d definitely go back should, God forbid, anything else happen to my windshield.

Great experience, from handling the claim paperwork to the glass installation. I guess it’s their busy season so they were open on Sunday and that was very convenient.
They were ready for me at the assigned time and I was in and out in about an hour. Garage and waiting room was clean and staff was friendly.

This place was great! I went via my insurance because of a crack in my windshield. They fixed it and cleaned all the windows and vacuumed my entire car!
They noticed my drivers side window wasnt working and asked if I wanted to fix it. I mentioned I couldn’t afford it at the time. They said they were concerned the window would fall into the door and break and asked if they could take a look for free. They said it would be an hour so I grabbed a bite and when I came back they said it was a simple fix and they fixed it for free! Saved me a ton of money!
The place was clean, they have a HUGE TV with cable that you can control which is nice for waiting, and an incredible staff! Thank you guys!

This place was incredible they were on time quick professional vacuumed my car washed all the windows and I was only there for a windshield replacement I would recommend anyone go here

This was the worst customer service experience in my life I took my vehicle windshield to be replaced they failed to put the clips on my 2003 Range Rover. It’s makes a loud sound like wind blowing due to to clips it’s been 2 weeks they’ve been telling me couple days I’ve made 3 trips to Newton with no resolution. I’ve called & was told the manager would call back he has not returned my call I will never go back nor refer anyone I know in the future

These guys are great. I got an unfortunate crack in my windshield yesterday and called Safelite right away. They were so accommodating and fit me in for a next day at-​home appointment, despite an impending snow storm. The following day, I saw the snow coming down hard and was nervous that the technician was going to cancel. It was imperative that my windshield had to be fixed because I was traveling to NY the next day. Anyway, as I sat nervously expecting the technician to call and reschedule, he actually called and asked if I could meet him at the garage (10 minutes away). He reassured me that my car was 100% going to be worked on that day. I was very impressed and very happy with how reliable this company is. If I ever (hopefully not) have anymore auto glass drama, I’ll definitely be heading back to Safelite.

Do NOT use Safelite of Watertown. Just don’t. First off — they don’t even answer their phone at the shop 75% of the time. Second off — when they do, they tell you that they will call you back in X amount of time. This is false. They will never call you back.
Totally incompetent. I was told that these dudes would call me within 24 – 48 hours to let me know if they had the parts for my car in their national warehouse. They never called me. Looked up their reviews on Unilocal and the myriad voices of the people of Unilocal cried out to me. I told them to throw out my claim because I’m not working with them.
Switched to Village Glassmith of Needham, which so far is going 100X better, but more on that later.
