Good grub, reasonably priced drinks and funny bartenders. My buddy lives in the neighborhood so we go there often.

After hanging out at the other spot for a bit, it was time to get some Unilocal reviews done and so I landed here at Cherry Tree where I had a table that actually had a power outlet within reach and a reasonably speedy wireless network connection. Just the one beer — a tin of Narraganset — but it was a nice spot to sit for an hour because I was too early for dinner. The place is nothing fantastic, but they had beer and the bar menu of grub looked pretty decent.

Probably the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had– granted they were packed because of the Paddy’s race-but you’d think they’d be prepared since it happens every year. Getting our food took over an hour, and only about half of the people at the table got their order. Finally the rest of the food arrived: my husband’s burger was raw, and I still hadn’t gotten my Reuben sandwich, until we stood up to leave and they threw it in a to go box. They ran out of silverware and glasses as well… If you just want a beer I guess this place would be fine, but I will not be back.

This place is okay, nothing mind-blowing or special. The prices are good and the food is decent. I came on here for one specific item: Turkey Tips. These are incredibly good and easily the best thing on the menu. I highly recommend them.

I have been coming here for almost a year great streak tips and good drinks — yesterday I had the worst experience on Sunday 8⁄2 around 10 pm — rude, impolite and unprofessional female bartender — will never comeback to this bar again — we had to go next door TOTHELOCAL —

Good food. Boneless with in house sauce rather tasty. Lil heat, not too much. Listenin to church bells playin in the background. Bartender nice, chatty but not overly annoyingly so. I’m a tourist but i’m lovin the local vibe. Great corner bar. Once you escape the madness of the city this is a nice lil spot to relax.

I love this place! I’ve only«dined in» once on trivia night and I had a blast. They have a standard beer list but I’m not much of a drinker. The food is good, I love their chicken quesadillas and my boyfriend likes their fish. I’d recommend!

Love this place, great place to grab a beer and a snack. Highly recommend the chicken tenders with the house sauce. Unlike most places these are made fresh, in house. Waffle fries crispy are the BEST! Bartenders are frindly and efficient. I love it when they have the tables out front!

Omg! Where have I been. I drive past this gem almost every day and never stopped in. My loss big time. It’s a Boston local bar in Newton. Plenty of seating at the bar with large TVs for viewing. Pricing for what 8 like to drink were very reasonable. Very very reasonable. I arrived too late in the evening to order food though the kitchen was open. I look over the menu and give it a try on my next visit.

Great neighborhood bar. Good beer selection. Stick to the bar food, don’t venture too far into the menu. Service is friendly, attentive. Nice, quiet, local vibe. Have a couple beers, chat with friends. Well priced.

This is the spot I’ve been looking for, great food, great drinks, reasonable prices… The staff was awesome too… We had the turkey tips and steak tips… Both were amazing, I would recommend the turkey tips over anything… I will defiantly be back!

It’s a bar with food. It’s really hard to come up with anything remarkable. Service is a little on the slow side, and the menu is divey… diner-like. Not great, not inedible. Basically, it’s a great place to get together with friends or watch a game.

Used to be a decent place but the last visit was awful: The food took at least 20 minutes to arrive; the French fries were slightly warmer than room temperature; my Reuben sandwich was thin and not even remotely what a Reuben should be; my friend’s cheeseburger was overcooked and hard. AND. they charged us for sweet potato fries even though we were served regular fries.

Three & a half skewing positive… I came to this townie bar with a Newton bred friend on a Monday night during a Bruins playoff game and the atmosphere and crowd instantly had this Long Island native feeling nostalgia for the townie bars I grew up frequenting and having the requisite love hate relationship with. That wouldn’t necessarily be enough to recommend it much, but fortunately I sampled the wings, which were very good, considerably above average. I tried the house special«Cherry Tree Variety» which was a creamier variation of the traditional buffalo style and quite delicious. I thought this sauce to be very unique but oddly enough the next day in Somerville at the Boston Burger Company I ordered a grilled buffalo chicken sandwich which was topped with a remarkably similar sauce, suggesting this might be a somewhat common regional variation. Whatever the case may be it would be a very good one. Beyond the good sauce the wings were perfectly crisp, which is key in judging wings in my opinion. Most all of the tables were ordering the«boneless wing» variations but I don’t usually roll like that, I guess I am a wing traditionalist. This place is certainly a solid choice if you find yourself in town and want some excellent wings and legit local flavor.

Fine place to have a beer but the food was bad. The worst part the experience was the waitress — she was curt and really unhelpful. Won’t be going back there ever again.

I love the Tree! It used to be a hole in the wall, now it’s a lot bigger which I like. Not the most amazing selection of food and drink, but everything is good. I recommend Cherry Tree wings, or a Cherry Tree sandwich. They also do a good steak and cheese roll-up. I also recommend requesting steak fries! Staff is friendly, just a great place to hang out with friends or watch a game!

This place is good, their wings are very good, the cherry tree sauce is tasty. I can’t speak to the bar since I’ve never had drinks here but take out is good and pretty fast too. Ain’t nothin wrong with that! For Newton, it’s quite bueno.
