The Den on Sunset

The Den is my favorite; I don’t know why it has taken me so long to write a review! Great staff and service, good vibes, and the food is good too. If you are ordering food the wings, bacon wrapped dates, hummus plate, or flat breads are all great options. Decent tequila selection as well.

Great Spot on Sunset across from the pink taco and down the street from many other good bars in the Hollywood scene. Definitely worth coming and checking out. Great friendly staff and heavy pours from the bartenders.

So I decided to go to the den last night (10÷10÷15) with a few of my friends. I hadn’t been there in a couple of years so I was excited to see if it was as good as I had remembered. The crowd was about the same, the music was decent, but I had a horrible customer service experience. I go to the bar and raise my hand to get a bartenders attention (literally just raised it as if I was raising my hand in class) as I typically do since I am always hidden between tall surrounding men. Then the bartender (blonde tattoo’d lady looking between 30 – 40 yro) screams, «don’t wave your fucking hand at me!!» I was so shocked at her rude & unprofessional attitude, I just left the bar. She ruined my night. I did nothing to deserve that. Even if I did, you don’t scream and curse at your paying customers. And if you don’t like your job, FIND ANOTHER. Bar goers don’t deserve to have their nights ruined because of miserable bartenders. Ugh never again.

Came here for a drink and was not disappointed. Very casual atmosphere with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It’s great for groups as well. My boyfriend and I just got 2 drinks and edamame, but we’re not disappointed. Our waitress was very nice as well.

Update: after now coming back a few times over the last few months I’d like to pull my original positive review. Its been 3 months… it exceeds my original review. Good service should be expected… but what the staff at the Den has done here is hard to explain. Dive/​club/​family/​romper room… well done. Begins with staff like Travis, Conner, Steven, Michael, Elliot, Jeremy… get my point? Very impressed… you will be too. …just moved to LA… have friends in the Den staff.

Love this place. Dark and romantic good for a quick drink. Very chill environment and nice place to hideaway.

Always great service and clean! I’ve come here several times and tried most of the menu, food is great and they have healthy options! Fun spot to go when you need to unwind!

Came here on a Weds night with two girlfriends for some dinner and karaōke. Food was decent, great location, great atmosphere, drinks were good. I sent my Moscow Mule back a couple times and they were always sweet about trying again. Turns out I just don’t care for the ginger beer they use, so they let me order something else. We received top class service from our waitress and the bartenders. Speaking of the bartenders, these guys were so much fun. They get into karaōke more than the crowd. Loved watching them perform while working the bar at the same time. The crowd we encountered was super friendly and encouraging. Can’t comment on parking as we walked. We will definitely be back to this little gem on Sunset.

This is pretty cool spot. Located on sunset blvd in the heart of (west) Hollywood, I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Came here on a Friday night with a few friends, and it did not disappoint. 4.5 stars, I had a blast.
With an indoor-​outdoor setting, this place has great ambiance and a top notch atmosphere. The people here were all friendly, and I really enjoyed the clientele. Easy to make friends and big enough to roam around and find yourself a good time.
The drinks prices were appropriate for this kind of an upscale, trendy bar. I’m unsure of the parking situation, as I ubered here, though I could imagine it might be difficult. Traffic on this street gets HORRIBLE at times, so plan accordingly if meeting up with friends. Liquor store across the way, perfect for going to right as last call starts before 2 am to stock up for the after party.
All in all, I will be back. I recommend it to all looking for a great time on a weekend night.

This is a cute little bar with outside patio seating as well as inside cozy booths. We called to see about getting a table to watch the Oscars and they were great about taking care of us. Front and center. The food was actually pretty good for bar food — Exceeded my usual bar food expectations by a long shot and the service was great. We ordered the wings (which our kids actually loved and they don’t usually like wings), flat bread, hummus and truffle mac n cheese. All very good. Would come back with friends for adult beverages on the patio for sure.

This is one of the better spots in the West Hollywood nightlife scene, but encompasses a generally cool, preppy, trendy, hipster, and entertainment vibe. There are two bars in different areas of the establishment, with a dance floor and seating in between. There is also an outside area with chairs that is smoking accessible.
I like this place because it’s so easy to talk to people. If you come alone, it may seem like a stuck up crowd at first. But talk to two or three people, and I guarantee you will have a great time, I have actually not met a crowd as friendly as the Den. Great staff, good drinks, and plenty of pretty people. The only downside is you do not get the preppy vibe on Santa Monica, and the smoking area outside which seeps into the rest of the bar.
But overall, I would give this place a 7.5 for a good night out. And there’s always Bar Marmont across the street, but it would only have you coming back here

This was my first time going there over the weekend, and it’s definitely different from most bars i been. It’s really nice has two bars located in them. They have a long fire pit in the bar. This is a nice place to go with a group of friends that just want to grab a drink nd socialize with each other.

I’ve been here once before years ago and it was cool but didn’t really move me either way. I’m a neighbor and dine out often and when my friend told me she had a show there I was on the fence but that was soon changed by the bartender Michael, an employee that understands business and customer service. I was blown away at the level of service and entertainment I received. I do not drink alcohol and but sat at the bar to wait until my friends show started.
Since I needed to eat dinner, I ordered the chicken club sandwich with the truffle fries. the sandwhich was above my expectations, very flavorful and the fries, THE BEST IN CALIFORNIA!!! they were the perfect size and had a hint of truffle that didn’t cause my tummy to feel like I had an army of ninja’s inside. Truly blown away at the food and of course, the service.
I also got to meet Jeremy, one of the servers I believe that puts on the comedy show. I have to be honest, had he not had the genius idea of having a comedy show at this joint, I wouldn’t have been able to experience the amazing food and service I did last night. I just simply wrote this place off my list after a so/​so experience in the past.
So, I can proudly say I am a fan of this place and I absolutely LOVE the food here and i WILL be back!

Good food, dark setting, people can smoke outdoors and they have indoor seating as well. It’s really well put together, it almost seems like it has a New York feel even though it’s not a New York bar, obviously.
I had Truffle Mac and Cheese, I’ve had the wings, the burger, and… probably other stuff too. They have acceptable beer, the service is always really good, they’re open late, it’s in a cool part of town, everyone is nice to me there and I have no problem whatsoever with this place.

I LOVE this place. The food and drinks are great and the atmosphere is awesome. There is a cool outdoor area and fire pit and the indoor area has couches!

Fun place to grab a drink! If you go during the week or slower times they have giant jenga you can play while you sip your cocktails and beer. It does get REALLY busy on the usual going out nights, but it’s a good crowd of friendly people who are all just looking to have fun. They play a good mix of music too, so you’re not hearing the same sounding tunes the entire night. Bar team is pretty quick and attentive, so you’re not stuck waiting around for 20 minutes until they help you. The patio, if you can snag a spot is beautiful too! Fire pit runs down the middle of it and keeps you nice and warm on cold nights. but again even though its fun if you’re not trying to be bumped into I’d say go earlier in the night or on weekdays!

I came in for the first time in over a year and the place was packed! I forgot to make a reservation and there were no tables open, but the red headed manager was super nice and made sure we felt welcome while we waited for a table. we enjoyed a round of drinks while we waited then were seated after only 5 – 10 minutes. Our server was prompt and attentive, the food was fantastic, and the patio is so magical! I will definitely not wait another year before I come back!

This place is awesome! Super nice bartenders and super cool atmosphere. It’s a great lounge area to just relax and hang out. I got the chicken sandwich as well which was delicious! I’ll be getting it again sometime. The lighting is great and you can either sit at the bar and watch the game, there are a couple different bars throughout the establishment, or sit at a regular table or the lounge, couch areas to relax and enjoy an adult beverage. It’s parking might be difficult, so either find street parking or take your favorite ride share company. I really enjoyed my evening here and can’t wait to come back!

If you want to go out, but don’t feel like going all out and buying table service, suited up, and deal with abnoxious doormen, The Den is a good alternative!
At night the vibe is there, music and dancing. It gets packed so be prepared to rub elbows and bump into a lot of people. It’ll get stuffy but there’s an outside area! The crowd isn’t your typical club crowd, (you can either love that or hate it) the crowd seems and feels like a group of friends going out, not totally dressed up but enough to hint that, hey, I’m ready to have a fun night. College feel rather than grown up lounge feel. Which ISN’T A BAD THING, I’m just painting a picture :)
I hear in the day, the mimosas are great ;)

I never write reviews… so this must mean something…
I went here with my friends about a week ago to enjoy a drink on Sunday Funday and celebrate my friend’s birthday. When we entered the bar, there were not many customers and everyone was a little sleepy… including the staff. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday and were very excited to be spending time together. One of our friends in particular was very excited and perhaps a little loud, but he was not being rude. It rubbed the owner the wrong way. I think its because we weren’t apathetic like the rest of them… you know– «too cool for school?» We just didn’t mesh with their vibe because we are a vibrant and fun-​loving group.
The owner (wearing a tank top that said «I hate everyone») told us they would not serve us anymore and to leave after we finish our drinks. She would not hear us out. We explained that we were being responsible and taking ubers everywhere if that was her concern. She would not have it, got frustrated and eventually forced us to leave immediately. She was impatient and very rude. And it was also quite surprising because we would have brought her a lot of business with a group our size. I guess her cool kid vibe was more important to her.
Oh well! I guess she is staying true to her tank top… So if you are an upbeat, fun person that could be mistaken for «uncool» due to your enthusiasm, I would suggest staying away from this not-​so-​friendly bar.

The food was good, even if the bacon wrapped dates were a little burned. I’ve been here 2x. Once for lunch and once for dinner. I’m writing about the second time for dinner.
We ordered, and appetizers came out, and ALL BUT ONE order came out. We were told it would be right out, but by the time everyone who had gotten food finished IT STILL WASN’T OUT.
We constantly had to flag down wait staff for drink refills, or to tell them «Yo! We’re STILL missing food!»
When we went for lunch the service was much better, and they didn’t burn our dates.

Pretty awful costumer service. Went here for a friends birthday and got confronted by the owner and told us to go to another bar and yelled at us while the other employees looked shocked and sad. She told my friend your not welcome here and when I asked what was wrong she turned to me and told me your not allowed here either? Never going again!

What caught our attention to this place (after driving by for over 8 YEARS mind you!) was a Unilocal review. (Thank YOU Miss A & Thank you Unilocal!!!)

I was about to get my drunk on. On a Sunday. Before noon. For shame.
One mimosa would do the trick… but I went for two. Oh Boy. I was blasted.
The patio allows doggies (super plus plus!) and we sat here and greeted all the doggies that walked by. Drunk. Drunk Dog Petting. It could be a new pastime drink game, Like while one is watching «Scandal» and everyone has to start doing a shot every time you hear the words «It’s Handled» and «Gladiator in a Suit».
The staff is great and the owners are very sweet.

Love the drinks and the relaxed vibe here. Also, don’t bother valeting anywhere else, they have a great valet parking deal for $ 10!
My favorite by far was the Tall Ginger drink! It was kind of funny, the last time I went, I brought my other redhead friend, and we of course had to order the Tall Gingers despite hating the term «ginger.» Despite the unfortunate name for our kind, it was by far my favorite drink on their menu!

I don’t mind The Den. My guy friends are literally ALWAYS down to go here so the place has sorta grown on me. Drinks are whatever. Prices are whatever. Music is whatever. Ambiance is on point though. Their outdoor area is beautifully lit and there’s a cool fireplace in center. Very cozy vibes. I’d recommend going to maybe start off the night or to wind it down since you’re already blacked out anyway.

This place is always a good time and great location. During the day or afterhours. On this recent trip, I had a couple of beers and a sandwich with a friend. The food was better than expected for bar food. The quality of the meats and bread were great. The ambiance is nice, I like the feel of going down to the «den». The service was also great. We were there mid day, so not a lot of customers, however we were taken care of quite well.

Love the cozy patio, the central location, and the laid back vibe. Yes, super casual. Our service has always been great. The fact actually receiving the food or drinks is a bit slow is not the waitress’s fault I believe. And I loved the snacks/​apps and cocktails. As I recall the prices were quite reasonable as well, especially for this area. Cheers!

Not sure if this review should really ‘count’, considering I basically did a walk-​through but hey, it was an A-​OK one at that.
I drive by The Den on Sunset constantly, and even though I work down the way from there, I never set foot until recently. All I knew about it was from TMZ when that trashy Jason-​whomever-​the-​heck-​redneck was caught cheating on his wife. Hey, don’t blame the place, although I guess I was thinking ‘his type’ might be trolling around here. Thankfully, this was not the case.
First impression was a good one: bouncer was really nice, had a southern drawl and I made my way in, bypassing the patio area and going straight inside the bar… to the bathroom in the back. These were decent bathrooms by the way with plenty of standing room in case you’re trying to avoid the drunk girl leaning on you for support.
The inside was empty once you were past the bar saved for two guys hanging out at a booth. Outside was packed to the gills, and a bit smokey, so I obviously wasn’t going to cut back that way. Go figure my co-​workers were right there in that bunch and I happened to have missed them. I deal with them during the day, so I guess it was better off, otherwise I would have felt as though I was still at work… not getting paid.
My main reason of stopping by was to say hi to a guy my other co-​workers told me worked here named Bret (t?) and he wasn’t even there; one of the bartenders informed me ‘he comes and goes as he pleases.’ So, I’ll say hi here. Hi!
From my brief experience tonight, I would return for sure, especially for the food, and to update my review accordingly. See you then–

Came to the Den before going to see a comedy show at Laugh Factory. The Den was OK, but nothing memorable. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, but none of them were very memorable. Most of the selections were «bar food» items that came deep fried and tasted mediocre. I had a couple drinks, but nothing looked too great on that front either. I just stuck with a couple whiskeys.
Theo only appetizer that I remember being good was the «mac and cheese balls.» However, I go back to the fact that they were also deep fried bar food, and something that I could have also just bought at Trader Joes. I think that the Den is a great place to go to if you want to meet up with friends and have a couple drinks. Just depends what you are looking for.
