California Impressionism and American Scene painting. We have a large inventory of the finest examples of paintings from 1880 through 1940 and beyond. George Stern Fine Arts is involved in educating the public on the historical development of these artists and the connoisseurship of collecting. We have published books on artists such as Arthur Dominique Rozaire, Conrad Buff, Edwin Roscoe Shrader, and Robert Frame.
History
Established in 1972.
For 40 years, George Stern has operated one of the most important galleries for California and American Scene paintings dated 1880 – 1940. Following his father’s footsteps, George opened a small gallery in Encino, C.A., handling early California artists such as Guy Rose, William Wendt and Maurice Braun. With its growth, George moved the business in 1989 to its current location on Melrose Ave.

George Stern is the founding president of the Fine Art Dealers Association. He currently serves on the boards of FADA, the Art Dealers Association of California, the Board of Governors of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and the Board of Advisors of Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California.
