Cutting Edge Karate has been offering instruction and training in Tang Soo Do since 2003. We offer many different programs for all ages. Located in West Hills, CA, Cutting Edge Karate has produced champions in life as well as in the martial arts. We offer a number of programs for physical fitness and instruction in Tang Soo Do.

Meet the Business Owner

Brandon Kemmer L.

Business Owner

Mr. K. (as he’s known here at the studio) is the owner/​chief instructor at Cutting Edge. He started training in Tang Soo Do in 1990 at the age of 6. He received his Black Belt in November of 1994. In June of 2004, Mr. K. received his 2nd Dan Black Belt and in June of 2007 he received his 3rd degree black belt. He will be getting his 4th Dan Masters Black Belt in July 2011.

I am very impressed with the professionalism here. The studio is clean, the teacher is developmentally appropriate, and the fees are more than reasonable. This is my son’s first Martial Arts class, and the teacher made him feel comfortable, yet motivated him to perform the evaluation tasks. I wanted a place where my son can develop coordination, greater self efficacy, increase physical activity, and develop simple lifelong skills. Cutting Edge does so much more than that. They teach safety, manners and everyday skills that are necessary in order to survive in life. My son is excited to be a member now and is feeling more confident and motivated. I am very grateful for this opportunity!

Couldn’t be happier with Cutting Edge Karate!!! I started my five year old son at a near by school and saw the love my son built for karate. I knew he had petantioal so I looked around for a better place and came across Cutting Edge. The trainer is amazing and my son loved the school. They also practice stranger danger which the other school didn’t. My five year old now knows our phone number and how to help himself if his lost! Not only is he learning karate but life skills as well! :) like I said we couldn’t be happier with Master Kemmer and what his school offers our son.

I love this place! My son was 4 years old when I first brought him in, he went into their little dragon program, and he has flourished under their guidance! They are so patient and really care. My son loves his instructors, they are firm, but encourage him. I see how happy he is when he gets praised for doing the right moves for the right commands. I live in Burbank, but I’m glad to drive an hour out of my way, this studio and all it’s staff are worth it when I see how much my son enjoys it. He will be 6 this year and will be getting ready to join their Beginning Juniors program. Thank you Brandon and everyone that is a part of Cutting Edge Karate! You’ve given my son confidence and a constant challenge to keep him focused and constantly working towards improvement!!!

I was looking for a class where I could get in better shape and learn self defense. I heard about this place from a friend and decided to check it out. I signed up for the adult class and all of the instructors are extremely helpful. Master K is very patient with us new comers. I’m definitely staying here from now on. The price is pretty good compared to everywhere else and he seems to actually focus on making us better rather than just getting paid.

My kids joined Cutting Edge Karate in 2002, when they were 7 and 10 years old… and they are still at it! Learning under Mr. Kemmer and the other teachers there has been a total blessing for our family.
They’ve learned not only karate but self-​control, self-​defense, respect, and perseverance.
I highly recommend this studio to everyone.

This review is purely based on their new «Fit to Fight» (adult) bootcamp classes. I had my first session with Daniel this morning at 6am. I’ve never been a morning person, and definitely not a high-​impact exerciser. But… so far so good! He was extremely encouraging, and helped me find the extra «umph» I needed to do those last few reps…
Best of all, he seemed pretty knowledgeable about how to exercise with injuries (of which I have THREE), so he made sure to modify when necessary, and didn’t make feel me like a burden on the class.
UPDATE: Fall 2011: I’m not sure if these boot camp classes are still happening, but Daniel is available for personal sessions and I highly recommend him!
