BEST service ever! I phoned this company, spoke to the owner and within hours his crew was at my door and cleaned up every bit of leaves and clippings that were on my property. His crew was courteous, polite, fast and did a fantastic job. Better than anyone I had ever used before. I would highly recommend Trout Brook Landscaping for all your landscaping needs.

I used Trout Brook Landscaping for a few months this summer. I went on vacation in the early days of lawnmowing season and, upon returning, I had fairy high grass and a broken lawnmower. Not very lucky! After speaking to Andrew, we agreed to a mowing schedule of every 10 days or so and negotiated a pretty immediate start date. Because of the hilly landscape of my property and the fact that he wasn’t mowing any other lawns in my immediate neighborhood, he told me that he was going to be charging me a premium. Since beggars couldn’t really be choosers, the grass seemed to be growing longer by the minute, I agreed to the price and a start day. The first day that my lawn was supposed to be mowed, no one arrived. I called and was told that most people like their lawn mowed on a Friday and they weren’t going to be able to make it over to my neighborhood that day. Ok, fine. So, I waited until the next week and due to some slight rain, it took another 2 attempts to get my lawn mowed. Had that been the only problem, that would have been absolutely forgiveable, however, issues (and excuses) seemed to continue to pile up.
Upon receiving my first bill, I saw that my lawn was mowed for the 2^nd time only 4 days after the first time. There was absolutely no reason to do this and was against our original agreement of mowing every 10 days. When I called to question this, I was told that the team sometimes does this to get people on a «schedule». I shouldn’t have to worry about or pay for the landscaper getting me on an easier schedule for them. Again, this also would have been fine (accidents do happen), had it been an isolated incident, but every bill I received seemed to have some sort of error where I was being overcharged or my lawn was being mowed more often than I had requested. On a positive note, once my bill was adjusted each billing cycle, the actual process to pay was convenient and online, but I needed more than just this to stick with this guy.
When I tried to contact Andrew, I would leave a message, but never receive calls back, so I felt like I was constantly trying to track him down. I’m sorry, but hiring a lawn service should not be this hard and I shouldn’t have to feel like I am being dealt with dishonestly. Most of the time, I felt like I was dealing with a high school kid who was doing this work on the side after school. I think that Andrew has some work to do on his professionalism and customer service skills before I would ever recommend him to anyone.
I was able to find a different local company to take over my lawn at ½ the price and it looks just as nice, with no issues, so I know better options exist in West Hartford.

While I’m certain this business is happy to take your money when you live in the lily-​white portions of town, he didn’t seem terribly keen on doing anything besides insulting us once he realized we were in the part of West Hartford that isn’t walkable to Blue Back Square.
We reached out to some area companies for some light work, and their representative was very quick to respond. But after discussion of area needed for mowing/​weeding we got to the location of the home — on a quiet street in Elmwood, off New Britain Avenue.
The tone quickly shifted to his being uncertain about leaving his equipment out — in broad daylight, in a neighborhood where we have lived for over 30 years without incident, I should add — due to ‘it being the kind of place where stuff tends to walk away’.
I’ll leave it to others seeking their service to decide whether or not that constitutes a racial overtone, but given the circumstances, we were happy to inform them that we would find another company for our needs which doesn’t immediately turn up its nose when it finds out you’re in the part of town that shares a border with Hartford.

Trout Brook Landscaping, owner Andrew Bachman, is a welcome relief and reassurance that you can find a company/​small business on the Internet and have their services exceed your expectations ten-​fold. Background: our closing date got pushed out and suddenly we had to deal with property maintenance for another two months. We had moved, lawn mower had been sold. Now we have to deal with calf high grass. We went on the Internet, and wanting to stay local and hire a small business, we found Trout Brook Landscaping and of course, having had some issues hiring businesses this way, we read all of the reviews. We called Andrew and explained our situation. Andrew actually did a drive by of the property, quoted us a price (he even apologized for the price but we said Not A Problem cheerfully, because it was going to be a ‘messy job’ being calf-​high grass and overgrowth!) and then referred us to one of his subcontractors, Raymond Klinger. We talked to Ray, he came on the designated day and time (he was prompt), walked through the property and then began what was a masterful restoration of our lawn. He had to first weed whack the entire property, then he mowed it, then he edged it and then finished by using a leaf blower to remove the clippings. Our lawn went from looking like an overgrown ruin to the most perfectly manicured property on the street. We were dumbfounded and amazed at the same time that our lawn could be recovered to a showplace! Ray was professional, calming (we were a bit panicked), organized, efficient and deliberate in his steps to complete this job. Starting with the professionalism of Andrew Bachman of Trout Brook Landscaping, ending with a wowing recovery of our lawn thanks to Ray Klinger, our faith in using the Internet to hire the best of the best has been restored. We’ve hired Ray to continue mowing our lawn until the new closing date. If I was ever the most sincere about recommending people and businesses, it is this one. You need to hire Trout Brook Landscaping, Andrew Bachman, and along with Ray Klinger you will be as pleased as we were (astounded is more like it).

After finding Trout Brook Landscaping on Unilocal,I called the contact number and spoke with Andrew about some Fall Clean-​up work I needed on my home. He got my address and told me he would call me back. Within an hour, he drove to my home, walked the property and called me back with a detailed quote. Not only was I impressed by this initial level of service, but his quote was better than any of the three other landscape companies that I contacted for the same work.
When it came time to do the actual work, the level of service was even more impressive. Since the home was located out-​of-​state from where I currently live, he would do the work, then take detailed photos and send them to me, without my request. When it came to the final work for the season, he actually sent me photos of the property before doing the final work, to show that all of the leaves were indeed off of all the trees. And again, when the work was done, he sent another round of photos showing the completed work. In all cases, the work was done exactly as requested, with beautiful results.
Without question, Andrew and his team are a quality team that I would easily call again for work and also gladly refer to any of my neighbors or friends in the area.

This company is excellent. Very thorough and helpful, big jobs from trees to small jobs like lawn work and hedges. Aerating lawn and in the winter snow plowing. They really do everything, they do it well and it is reasonably priced. This company is my go-​to for many different things

Missed an appointment to provide an estimate, then wrote back to say they didn’t want to come because they don’t like to compete with other companies.
