Loved my first lasko tower heater so when it blew after 5 years I purchased another one just like it. It never woked like the previous it doesnt heat the room and makes a humming noise along with a burning smell when I shut it off. So I contacted customer service to inquire about the warranty. After sitting on hold for 58 minutes the woman said to try and buy one of those air blow cans to make sure that there was no dust stuck inside causing it to malfunction. She said if that does not work then call back and they will put through the warranty claim. I made it clear that I do not have a receipt and she said that should not be a problem as there is a way to track the warranty from the numbers on the model. So I went and bought a $ 12 can of air and it still does not work. So I called today and the woman asked to put the phone up to the heater to see if she can hear the noise, and she agreed there is something wrong. however since I do not have a receipt I am shit out of luck. Although, I can go to Walmart and see if they can give me a copy of my receipt from October and then the warranty will work. Oh but wait! After expressing my concern they will do a one time courtesy of looking at my heater after I PAY to have it shipped to them. Then they will have someone look at it, then if they can find the reason for the defect they will replace it, So at this point by the time I would get a heater for my family room it will be warm out. BUT the new one will not be covered under any warranty. Even if it comes to my house with the same humming, not heating burning smell problem as this one. I never ask for free things however if you are going to sell me a defective product then you should own up to it Lasko!
