Jersey Bagel Deli and Grill

Having spent several months watching as the location was being built out I was anxious to give it a try. On my visit I was initially concerned because when I walked in I was in the back of a large line. Luckily the process was extremely organized and the staff sensing I was a little confused was very helpful. My family had placed our order and was sitting in just a couple minutes.
I ordered a made to order very specific omelette. Not your typical off the rack item. It was prepared quickly and was one of the better omelettes ice ever had. Everything was fresh. Great bagels and coffee too!
I commented to my family as we left that in looking forward to going back and this time I’m taking my brother.

Finally a bagel joint west of Orchard Lake Road, and a GREAT one at that. I knew I was home when I asked for a coffee regular and was given a coffee with cream and sugar, just like I used to get from Al’s Deli on 6^th Avenue in NYC.
Their bagels are made the way they are supposed to be, crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The black Russian bagel is one for the books, absolutely awesome, especially toasted with their scallion cream cheese and lox!
If you are a lover of rice pudding, then you will think you died and went to heaven when you eat their house made version.

Outstanding AUTHENTIC bagels. While I enjoy New York Bagel Baking Company bagels, and used to love Detroit Bagel Factory (until they closed our local outlet), neither were just quite right. And forget about bagels from some of the more popular soup & sandwich/​baked goods/​donut shops — those are NOT bagels.
I lived in NYC and New Jersey for many years, and THESE bagels are the real deal. The boiling time seems tomato the difference prior to baking. Authentic bagels should have a nice crispy outside, with a pulling or tearing to get to the soft and chewy inner core. These remind me of the legendary H & H Bagels on the corner of B’way and W. 80^th Street — the iconic bagel place in all the world, until they closed in about 2012.
Great variety of bagels, bialys, and even a few flagels (flattened bagels). Extensive cream cheese flavors, various lox and salmon choices, as well as cold cuts, house-​made tuna, chicken and egg salads. Sandwiches look pretty good as well.

Just found this little gem and good bye NY Bagel. These bagels are insane good I bought half dozen, salt stick and marble for the wife and sesame for me. As I was cashing out that Asiago was calling my name so I added one. Could not wait till I got home to eat that one. So good. These things are huge so eating a full one in a sitting may prove to be difficult. I do have one suggestion to ownership/​MGMT, the smoke salmon that is pre-​cut should be stored in a different source other than your coated butcher paper. I bought a half pound and the entire batch took on some weird taste from the paper. I will go back and send friends and if I feel like smoked salmon, I will ask them to cut fresh.

Today was my first time in and I had the shrimp salad on a croissant. The salad features huge shrimp and they were very generous with the portion, too. My son had an Italian panini which was also perfectly done and generously sized. I can’t wait to try the bagels and various cream cheeses. We really needed something like this in the neighborhood. The staff were super accommodating and helpful, also. What a nice change of pace from New York Bagel!

As a Jersey girl, now living in Michigan for 15 years, I am very happy to have a real NJ bagel store in the area. We drove over 25 minutes to come here and we will be back! Friendly service, great food, great coffee! Wishing these guys well and hope to see one open in the Northville area!

WOW! When I was not even looking, here comes an amazing bagel in greater DETROIT that rivals the old H&H Bagels, or Esse Bagel still in New York City. These are EXACTLY the right combination of flavor, chew, crust, size, and density to send you to the nearest slab of cream cheese and a toaster. Bagels this good are hard to get ANYWHERE. This is not a chain store bagel. Or a grocery store bagel. Or an amateur bagel. This is a Lower East Side 1920’s European immigrants made em like this bagel. So one more reason to celebrate the second coming of Detroit. Head to Jersey Bagel.

I was very hopeful when I saw a bagel shop with seating was opening nearby. A place to walk to for a cup of coffee and a nosh? Perfect. Well, it’s that and much more. First of all, the bagels are phenomenal. Big, airy and chewy, the way bagels are supposed to be. The owner says they’re boiled and hand-​rolled, which keeps them from getting squished and dense. There’s a great variety of flavors and variations — flagels (flat bagels), salt sticks and delicious low-​carb bagels. I have not yet tried their breakfast and lunch items, but I’m sure they’re top notch.

I had a Marble Rye bagel, it was beautiful! The bagel was baked to perfection, it was really one of the best bagels that I have ever had. They have about 6 custom cream cheeses. I got the blueberry cream cheese but they had one mixed with lox, mixed with strawberries, veggie one (looked like confetti ice cream) and chocolate and almond or something like that. Nice place, comfortable seating, great location and they were friendly. They had an extensive offering of sandwiches. I am so excited bc there is nothing else in West Bloomfield like this — yay!

Jersey Bagel Deli and Grill is in a shopping strip at the roundabout corner of 14 Mile and Farmington Roads. It just opened and already seems to have quite a following. We were there on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and people just kept coming in. There are about 6 booths if you want to eat in instead of carrying out. And it is decorated nicely enough that eating in is certainly an option — as long as you don’t mind plastic plates & flatware.
They offer a large variety of bagels, sandwiches and salads, as well as several kinds of cream cheese. I believe they cater as well. I had a cup of chili ($ 3.25) and a cinnamon glazed bagel. The chili was hot, plentiful and had corn in it. It was not spicy at all, which I really liked. It was perfect for a cold and rainy day. The bagels are the large, kind of fluffy east coast style (as opposed to the smaller, crustier Detroit style), but it was delicious. I actually couldn’t finish it after the chili. Regular bagels are $ 1.00, and specialty bagels are $ 1.25.
My mom had a half panini and cup of broccoli soup ($ 9.50). I don’t remember the kind of panini she had (something with lots of vegetables) but she said it was very good & she took half of it home — it was actually almost a whole sandwich. Her broccoli soup was good, although I thought the broccoli itself was a bit overcooked. My sister had the egg and cheese on a bagel, and she enjoyed that as well.
Jersey Bagel Deli and Grill is a nice addition to this area (which really is down to just New York Bagel as far as bagel stores go), and, as it’s just around the corner from where my mom lives, I’m sure I’ll be back
