Sleepy Hollow Nursery

I took my toddler to pick some blueberries at Sleepy Hollow when we were staying in Wenatchee, and it was an awesome experience!
This is not a big u-​pick operation, like you might find at some big farms. It’s a beautiful nursery that sits on a hill 10 or so minutes north of Wenatchee itself that also has a bunch of varieties of blueberries for picking.
We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who was tending the nursery soon after we arrived. He explained that they use integrated pest management practices, so the berries are safe to eat right off the bushes. I’m still a fan of washing them, but it’s nice to know they don’t have any harmful pesticides or anything on them! The berries are sold by the pint, and there’s a very nice discount for 5 or more pints. He directed us to the rows that were ready for picking, and invited us to sample the different varieties. I found the pricing to be very reasonable, especially considering the number of berries my toddler sampled! It was very cool to try the different varieties of berries — they definitely have distinct flavors and characteristics, and I quickly found my favorites.
I’d suggest going on a cooler day because it did get warm quickly in the fields, even when it was around 80 and partly cloudy on the day we went. There IS a comfy chair and kid-​sized picnic table under a big shade tree for taking breaks. Next time, we’ll go early on a cooler day and bring a lunch to enjoy after picking, as well as tons of water and sun protection. The nursery provides plastic pint «clamshell» containers, although I’d advise bringing your own container to pick into if you’re going for more than a pint or two. A smaller pitcher or something you can hang around your neck but still hold under the clusters of berries as needed might be ideal. The truly ripe berries often fall right off the stems when touched lightly. I had a quart-​sized, sturdy bag with handles that worked OK, but it was hard to transfer the berries into the pint containers, so a spout or funnel would have helped.
In short, Sleepy Hollow Nursery is a fantastic find close to Wenatchee! We can’t wait to go back to pick more delicious blueberries, and try some of the other varieties, as they ripen throughout the season!

I have tried to get ahold of these people over the phone for the last week. They do not answer their phone. I have repeatedly tried to call, they just simply have their answering machine on with their hours, and don’t even offer for you to leave a message, they just say «hope to see ya» and then they take it off the hook (you can tell because it is a busy signal, who gets those anymore?) The hours are less than desireable for daytime working people (they close at 5:00). I would not spend anymore money on their overpriced plants (albeit they are good quality) unless I absolutely could not find them anywhere else and I was desperate. BAD BUSINESS!

We recently built a house and needed a complete landscape put in from scratch. We hired a landscape designer who bailed on us in the middle of the process, which was a nightmare because we knew nothing about plants or gardening.
Sleepy Hollow was a godsend for us. They were very knowledgeable about all aspects of our landscaping project, helping with us everything from correct plant selection to suggestions on how to care for them. All of their plants were of high quality. They guaranteed all the plants they put in for us and were very supportive of the changes we wanted to make even after the plants were placed.
Now that we have had some time to appreciate our landscape, we can really see how much it has transformed our property. It is wonderful to be able to sit on the patio and enjoy all the various scents and colors, as well as the wild life that come to share our garden with us. I cannot say enough good things about this business — they definitely have my highest recommendation.
