Wells Beach Resort Campground

Spent a week there in August, overall a very good experience. This is a very clean, well kept place with a friendly and informative staff and the location is central to everything you would want to do in the Wells area.
Be prepared for them to let you know about the ‘rules’ there as you will surely be questioned about something during your stay… why do you have so many people in your car when you registered for 3 (had friends from next site with us)…why do you have so many people on your site (same reason!)…you must clear the grass of everything on ‘mowing day’ and don’t even think about having a campfire burning past 11:30 or they’ll douse it for you.
These aren’t the reasons for the 4-​star rating as we get that they need rules or the place won’t be good to stay at. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that the sites are on the small side, the immediate area is commercial (McD’s on one side and Drug Store on the other) and it can be quite a chore getting in and out of there at peak times due to the traffic on Rt. 1. Just a trip to the grocery store was a very slow process, we would have walked if we hadn’t had such a long list including bags of ice to haul back.
In any case, if you can put up with the cons, the pros are well worth a stay.

Not loyal to repeat customers. Treat you like criminals. Many other campgrounds to choose from.

Very nice place… super clean… excellent location. However, this place has a lot of rules and they ride around on their golf carts and remind you of said rules constantly… it was very annoying… it was difficult to relax in that environment

Great for families with small children. Very quiet. Bathrooms were pretty clean. Pool clean. Great location. Skip the mini golf not worth even $ 5 and they charge $ 8 cash only. Go down the street. Trolley stop right out front. Wasn’t crowded when we were there many spots open. Internet access is wireless, but you can only hook up one computer.
