The dentists in our practice are Dr. Nathan S. Birnbaum, a board eligible prosthodontist, and his daughter, Dr. Heidi B. Aaronson, a general dentist. It is a restorative practice begun in 1973 and specializing in crowns, bridges, implant restorations, inlays, onlays, veneers, tooth-colored fillings, MTM and Invisalign teeth straightening, teeth whitening, and sports dentistry. The doctors are pioneers in the field of digital impression-taking, as the first office in the world to provide impressions with the Lava COS system from 3M, and the doctors have published and lectured extensively on the topic. Dr. Aaronson is certified by BiteTech to provide athletes with performance enhancing mouthwear and has done so for a number of Boston Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and New England Revolution players. We pride ourselves on our emphasis on the highest quality dentistry performed in an attractive, clean and caring environment. We are proud of our experience, love of dentistry and our work.
History
Established in 1973.
Our practice is currently in the third generation of involvement in dentistry. Jacob Birnbaum was a dental technician who survived the Holocaust, taught technicians for the ORT in Germany, and established his own lab, Progressive Dental Lab, in Boston in 1952. His son, Nathan, attended Harvard College, Northwestern Dental School, and Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry, receiving his prosthodontic specialty certificate in 1974. While a graduate student, Dr. Nate opened Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry, working alongside his father for 23 years. The practice moved to its present location in Wellesley in 1996. When Dr. Nate’s daughter, Heidi, finished her education at Northwestern and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, she joined the practice. Working together, Drs. Nate and Heidi published journal articles, a textbook chapter, and have lectured widely, but pride themselves most on the high quality of dentistry they provide patients at Next Generation Dental Center.

Dr. Nathan Birnbaum has published and lectured internationally on aesthetic dentistry and acts as a consultant to many manufacturers. He is a member of the Editorial Team of the Aesthetic Dentistry Research Group, publishers of REALITY, and has served on the Editorial Board of Current Opinion in Cosmetic Dentistry and as a dental consultant to Good Housekeeping.
Dr. Birnbaum is an Associate Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the International College of Prosthodontists, and the Academy of Osseointegration, and was elected to fellowship in both the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists, as well as membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the honorary dental fraternity. Dr. Birnbaum is a member of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity and the Academy for Sports Dentistry.
He is an Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts Dental School.
