Milwaukee Map Service, Inc. specializes in a wide range of geography-​related products, including the following: folded maps, street atlases, laminated wall maps, desk-​top globes, floor globes, navagational charts, topographical maps, aerial photos, framed decorative antique reproductions and guide books to cities and countries around the world. We are the Midwest’s largest retail store with over 5000 geography-​related products in stock. We are happy to customize a specific area with the boundaries of the customer’s choice and print it in the size that will work best for them.

History

Established in 1937.

Clarence and Bessie Swain started The Map Store our of their living room at 3921 N 21^st Street in Milwaukee in 1937. Clarence wanted to start a business and recognized the need for maps of Milwaukee and WI. When Clarence died in 1954, his wife took over with the help of three sons: Charles, Quentin and Jan. In 1967, the company moved to a bldg at 4519 W North Ave and expanded twice before moving to its present location at 959 N Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa in 1991.

Meet the Manager

Anthony S.

Manager

Anthony grew up in the Swain family as one of three sons of Jan Swain – Vice-​President of Milwaukee Map Service, Inc. He worked during the summers when school was not in session, folding maps, doing assembly and assisting with deliveries. After a 4 yr period of teaching following graduation from college, he returned to the business in 1996 and has served as a manager at the business since about that time. He supervises the showroom staff, coordinates inventory review, assists with hiring new personnel, delivers wall maps and manages the framing/​mounting/​laminating departments.
